I repurposed a spiral-bound desk calendar one year to use for the Mixability challenges. It was back when they first began (I numbered each page according to the challenge). I made it to about 18, I think, before I had to lay all paper crafting aside for quite awhile. I still have that book, so perhaps I can add another this Friday. I remember being so excited each Friday for the newest challenge! I do not like getting my hands messy (probably why DH does all the yard work! I know I could wear gloves but my hands still get dirty and I just don't like it!) and I did these to get me to relax about it. I highly recommend the Mixability challenges.

I did 9 of the 10 tutorials and I loved them! I had a group over to stamp this morning and we made Dawn O's Two Tier Fold card and they oohed and aahed over it. They also loved Frenchie's Triangular Luminary. I am so glad I did them, even though they were not required.

When our group meets next month, we are making today's tutorial, for the quilt cards.

Thank you to and hurray for tutorial authors, who dream up projects I never could, and then generously put time into teaching us how to make them!

I've done every falliday fest tutorial, this year and last. Today's, I'd done a few years ago.

I there a extra thread to post a link to the YETI STATUS Challenge or should we post it in the daily challenge threads ?

Ohhh, i thought the tutorials are a MUST to have the Chance to become a Yeti **lol** Glad to hear it´s not required although i only 3 missing. However, I try to continue working on it.

I checked out the daily challenges but mostly no time to join. But now i give it a try and 2 are done already, YEAH ! THANKS for the daily inspriation.

Paula, what kind of a phone do you have? the edit button is usually where the crop feature hides in the basic camera things?
(if you go to the phones gallery and open the photo and just tap the photo do you see a row of other things you can do under the photo? like a share button etc. do you have a edit?)

I use my android for picture taking and cropping and uploading. Once I take the picture, I go to the gallery, open the picture and then there is an icon at the bottom that looks like three lines. I touch that and get a menu that allows me to rotate, crop and a few other things. It saves the cropped picture as well as the original.

Okay does the tutorial for today count as a Wednesday daily thing? ( in place of the sketch?) just curious, we just watched the video in my office and 100% of the viewers were excited about this one

I did it plus them sketch challenge. The tutorial is cool because I got five Christmas cards done in a short amount off time. Its not listed on the home page so I don't think you can count it for the yeti challenge. Lydia said it had to be one of the daily challenges from the home page.

I love the Mixability Challenge too. Don't be afraid of the words Mixed Media, I bet you all make mixed media pieces without realizing it. Any time that you use more than one medium on a card, say ink and colored pencils or paint and ink, you've made a mixed media piece. And....mixed media doesn’t have to be messy!

Stack four or five sheets of dp, cut them while stacked, then swap the pieces around. One to the back, two to the back, three to the back, and so on.

Yes, I quilt, and I'd seen this technique at a local quilt show. Much easier to do with paper than with fabric! No seam allowances.

I sketched a star on a piece of scrap paper first, so I’d know where to cut.

Yeah, that's true for almost all of the challenges. There will occasionally be an item for a technique or a theme for which I have no images or a color that I don't own. Sometimes I can make it work and sometimes I just can't. I just feel.like the term mixed media brings a certain style to mind for many people and scares them off. And of course, there's a reason they're called challenges! Some are going to be more challenging to us than others....for example fun folds are not fun to me!

Snapseed is a Google photo editing app for Android with loads of functionality. You can even add text, so you could "watermark" it with your name. I love it when people do that - makes it easy to ID their work when you come across it . It offers different font styles, and you can size it and move it round on the photo.

Yea!!! HIp Hip Hurrah! I did it...30 challenges and 10 tutorials. Now onward trying for Yeti Status....but first an hour break...the guy is coming to see if my ice maker is just AWOL or completely broke down (in a not that old of a refrigerator).

this was my second year to try the Falliday Fest activities. I stumbled across it last year and had so much fun trying to do everything that I had my calendar marked by August to watch for it this year. Such a load of work for those who plan, host, comment and do all the verifying. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all of you...I would send you cards ---but hey.....you can make your own much better than I can. LOL! Do know that your work is appreciated, and if I could like bake cookies for you to eat during this time I would. I am pretty good at baking cookies...

Faye, a few years ago I loved computers and all my friends called me for help with them.(They still call and I can still help) But the older I get the more fear has taken over. Ask Lydia how long it took to talk me into downloading chrome and dumping IE! My husband knows very very little about computers so if something needs done, I have to do it. His open enrollment starts next week, all done online and I get such anxiety just thinking about it! And my next move will be a new laptop early next year. Talk about anxiety! That will be rough for me! I hate change. That's why my smartphone is 6 years old and I'm still running xp on my PC!

My kids get excited over new technology but I get filled with dread. They can't wait for phone upgrades and I put it off as long as possible. I was either on a challenge design team or hostessing for Hope You Can Cling To, but right smack in the middle my laptop died followed closely by my phone. Talk about a pressure situation for a learning curve. All I asked for on the new laptop was the same photo editing program but of course that didn't happen!

I hadn't intended to try for Yeti status, but after a kinda crappy work day I decided craft therapy was in order. Made yesterday and today's challenges. Who knows what the rest of the week will bring.

I finished the last tutorial I am doing, for a total of 9. I need to today's sketch challenge now. I need to make it a birthday card for my sis. I had made her one, but realized it is her 65th, so I need to make a special one.

Sure enjoying everyone's creations. I have been commenting here and there, but need to do more.

Oh shoot - just saw you need to do 7 days of daily challenges to get Yeti Status and deadline is 10/31 - I'm going away Sunday - Tuesday - so I won't be able to participate.... That's a bit disappointing as I'm so competitive!! and I got all the challenges and tutorials done.

That is beautiful! Thank you!

I wonder if the deadline could be extended to compensate for situations like yours?

I love the challenges, but my heart sank when I saw I needed to make 7 more cards....glad I came to this thread, as I did not realize the tutorials we optional.......for Yeti..... deep breath. I think I can do it now...and will complete the tutorials too IF I have time : )

I so appreciate the time and trouble you ladies put into this- I have been having a blast, using many(unused) stamps and supplies, and getting out some older ones as well!

Thanks again
Shelly

I also count it a blessing that I stretched myself to try new things (and there's always a few things that I end up LOVING and use over and over again) that I got to make a good bunch of cards, and that I had the opportunity to support new organizations. I can only imagine how cool to be the non profit that is the recipient of all these gorgeous cards! Oh, and of course, I love hanging out with you guys too!

I'll make cards and donate them, that makes me content and happy both!
I was an accounting and computer major in college and I neither know much about technology, nor am I interested in learning it. My husband works heavily in the computer field and I quit working just two years out of college when we had our first child, so I have not really had a reason to learn new technology. Using SCS and preparing our taxes online is as fancy as I get. I much prefer paper and pencil for everything. My family teases me with what an old soul I am - Luddite is a more accurate description!

I learned a new word today! “Luddite: a person opposed to new technology”.
Thank you. I had never heard that.
