Bible Art Journaling 2018

Happy New Year!! So thrilled that you found our Bible Art Journaling Challenge forum for 2018!

Instead of having a separate thread for each month, we will have just this one forum to post, chat and share our Bible Art Journaling (BAJ) https://images.splitcoaststampers.co...icon_smile.gif

If you are new to BAJ, please remember that there is no right or wrong way to journal in your Bible. Not everyone feels comfortable journaling in their Bible and prefer to use an art journal or notebook, or even a scrapbook.other book. Just please remember, BAJ is not about how great your artwork looks but it is a creative worship time between you and the Lord.

So let's grab our art supplies (gelatos, colored pencils, acrylic paints, markers, plain pencils, watercolors, inks, crayons- whatever your heart desires) and worship the Lord with our creativity!!

Just a reminder, if you are unable to actually journal at this time, we would love for you to join in and "chat" so we can encourage each other, share ideas as well as see your art in the gallery when you are able to create.

Also, please do not forget:

We have our own gallery to load our journal pages-
Once you enter the "Upload A Card" click on the arrows next to the windows under "Select Galleries"- in the first window select "Anything BUT a Card", in the second window choose "Books, Handmade Albums and Journals" , in the third window choose "Art Journal Pages" and then a 4th window should appear and choose "Bible Art Journal Pages" .

Also, please use these keywords when you post to the gallery- BAJ18, Bible Art Journaling (remember to separate each with a comma) and if you have time, link your gallery upload in this forum so we can be inspired by your work and encourage you with some "love" ...

I am looking forward to spending time in God's Word creatively this year and hope you will join me! Hugs and I hope you have a blessed 20178!

Julie Gearinger 01-01-2018 05:39 PM

Hi Bible Art Journalers!! Welcome to the New Year!!
Our theme for January will be "Abide" and this year the optional techniques will be "Anything Goes" for art mediums, etc.

There are so many verses that have the word "Abide" and "Abide in Me".

I am looking forward to seeing which ones you decide to use in your Bible Art Journaling this month!

Hugs and God Bless!!

Scrapacat 01-01-2018 05:51 PM

Thanks for the new thread and theme. I'm trying to adjust to a new schedule. My goal is to work on things like it is my job, keep regular hours, have plans and goals, etc.

One thing I've noticed, Julie, is that when I'm running several days of card making and I need to switch into BAJ mode, it isn't easy. Does anyone else find that a struggle? Gotta work on transitioning!

smadson 01-01-2018 07:34 PM

Thank you for doing this again, Julie!

Forest Ranger 01-02-2018 03:44 AM

Hello Julie, I'm late. I didn't realize you'd opened a new thread. But now I'm here. Love the January theme! Thank you!

Hello Ky... yes, sometimes I struggle with switching to BAJ when I've been making cards, and vice versa. I also find when I've been on a trip and haven't been creative in a few days, I struggle with making something i like when I get back home. I usually have to get in the creative mode again slowly. LOL!

Hello Sharon, it's going to be a great year, isn't it?

byHelenG 01-02-2018 09:26 AM

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all, my Bible Art Journal sisters... I pray that God will bless your life richly with the knowledge of Him and
He will fill your hearts and minds with peace that is only come from Him alone.

Thank you so much, Julie @Julie Gearinger for the 2018 thread. I also stepped down from couple of designing team due to my commitment in doing translations for women Bible study ministry. And I also reduce my designing time with other companies, and thankfully they accepted my proposal and keep me in their teams :D

God is good!

HUGS!

Ky, oh yes I totally can relate to your struggle. I pray God will give you creative ideas to do the transition.

What I have been doing is that I do the BAJ first thing first, then work on the next projects :) But distractions are always there and I did not always success to say not to the distractions in the past. One of my goal this year is be more intentional, including more intentional to do devotion and journaling first thing first in the morning, then jump to next one on my to do list.

HUGS!

How are you all doing? I'm soooo cold. We got cold air but no snow in my part of Texas. It's affecting my studio time! Brrrr! Buns and kits are fighting for my lap.

nwilliams6 01-17-2018 05:58 PM

We are super cold in Central Alabama. We even have snow. In fact, I got a snow day from work and did some BAJ today.

Here is my Abide page:

I did some others this past week I am going to post in a minute too.

Many hugz to you all.

nwilliams6 01-17-2018 06:16 PM

Here is another page I did - it fits abide too if you look at what Christ is instructing us in John 15: 9-17.

I saw these friends on Art de Olivia. That place is amazing!!!

Scrapacat 01-17-2018 08:02 PM

We're back in the deep freeze with snow this time. This morning's low was 9 degrees. In Texas. I haven't had much success in journaling thus far. I don't know why. Even cards are a struggle and I have so many new things that need to be shared. So. Here's to praying for inspiration! Anyone have any prayer needs?

Forest Ranger 01-18-2018 03:45 AM

Good Morning Fellow Bible Journalers... it's been a while since I've checked in. Trips, trips, and more trips... plus down for the count with an awful virus (took me a week to recover from that one) have been my life.

AND... I'm leaving again in the morning for a week-long trip (actually 3 trips in one). I'll go north to see some fellow SCS'ers and go to a stamping event. Then I'll spend a couple of days with my son who doesn't live too far from there. Then I drive to our state again and a midwest meeting that lasts three days. My DH and Brock will meet me there.

When we all get home the end of next week, I'll quickly do the laundry and then help my DH pack for his mission trip to the Dominican.

Go, go, GO is the story of our lives, or so it seems.

Nancy, I love your BAJ pages!

Ky, I have done one , maybe two BIble journaling pages in the two years Julie has done this challenge. I struggle with it too. But I keep admiring the others pages, and hope that some day I can do it! When I hear a sermon, I think I can journal this, but then canít translate that into a page. I even bought a special Bible for this specific purpose! And I am slow on cards and scrap pages since the first of the year. I guess my prayer request is to have some energy, and for my daily walk with the Lord. (Need energy for that, too!). I am just lethargic, maybe this cold weather? Or all my energy used in month of December?

I am tireder reading what all Jeanette does!
:) have a great day!

Scrapacat 01-18-2018 11:23 AM

Lots of prayers for all your travels, Jeanette! And especially that you would stay healthy through it all.

Sharon - it's sometimes hard to transition from the audible to the visible. I'm getting ready to start my classes up again. I'm hoping (praying) I can get videos made. I got a new phone but haven't been able to coax it to speak to any of my computers. I'll see if I can address those types of issues to help you and anyone else along.

Sounds like we all can use some motivinspiration!

Scrapacat 01-18-2018 01:14 PM

Hyperventilating here. Just sent out my first invite for my journaling class. You'd think I'd never done this before - prayers welcomed!

nwilliams6 01-20-2018 05:52 AM

Hello friends, praying for inspiration for us all. I actually got super inspired on a snow day this week. I keep a pinterest board for BAJ inspiration. I put cool BAJ pages I see but also cool drawings and pretty pictures I think I can use to inspire me. I try to pretend I am in a challenge and that picture is the inspiration - kind of like with card making. I need a challenge or picture to get me started with anything.

Jeanette, stay safe! You are a serious traveler. Ky, good luck with your class - I would be there in a heartbeat if you were within 100 miles of me!

I flooded my gallery with pictures of my BAJ from my snow days and the week before if you want to check them out. I particularly love the the last one I loaded.

Off to check out the IC challenge - I love that one and it helps with BAJ too. If any of you have some time, I challenge you to make a card for it and then turn that same idea into a BAJ page!

nwilliams6 01-20-2018 09:28 AM

Ok - I did an IC card and a BAJ page to match. Even fits the Abide theme. Waiting on all you to do a page from the challenge too - any takers?

I'm game! I need to focus and getting baj thoughts flowing before I teach. Deciding to advertise that class woke my muse up a little. Nothing like putting yourself on the clock!

Yes, I knew Jesus was referring to grapes/vineyards in this chapter, but I didn't have any grape/vines stamps so I adapted to a different fruit.

Hi Bible Art Journalers!! Love all of your "Abide" pages and hope to catch up on commenting soon :-)

Our theme for February will be "Pure" or "Love" and remember, the optional techniques this year will be "Anything Goes" for art mediums, etc.

I am looking forward to seeing which ones you decide to use in your Bible Art Journaling this month!

Hugs and God Bless!!

smadson 02-02-2018 04:52 PM

LOL. I am still here! Going to do something with Phillipians because that is our Bibe Study. Maybe BAJ, or maybe an art journal page.

Forest Ranger 02-02-2018 05:08 PM

Thank you Julie! Great theme!!!

Scrapacat 02-02-2018 05:19 PM

I'm hosting the mix challenge this week if anyone wants to pop over. Thanks, Sharon, for playing, and Jeanette for your lovely comment. Now to catch up!

nwilliams6 02-04-2018 04:49 AM

Ky, your letters on pray were fabulous - hope the class goes well. I did my page from last month in my BAJ class I did yesterday and they loved doing all the techniques. Jeanette, your tip-in page was very pretty. Love the new theme this month - Love is sooo what the whole Bible is about. Thanks, Julie. Sharon - can't wait to see your Journaling. Hugz to you all

Good Morning Fellow Bible Journalers!

Thanks Nancy!

You're welcome Ky!

byHelenG 02-08-2018 03:57 AM

Ladies, I am so thankful for you all here... this is one of my favorite groups where God provides some encouragements that I need. This month has been hard for our family. We lost 2 family relatives in 2 weeks. One was an unexpected death... We found peace and hope in Christ knowing that both of my husband’s aunt and great grand aunt were believers in the LORD. We celebrated their lives that they lived in faith.

I hope to be back with some journaling soon... :)

God bless you all richly in Jesus’ name! Have a wonderful week!

Forest Ranger 02-08-2018 04:05 AM

Hello Fellow Bible Journalers!

Helen, I am so sorry to hear of your family's heartbreaking losses. It is comforting to know where they are (PTL!) but oh how they will be missed by those of you who love them. (((HUGS)))

Julie Gearinger 02-08-2018 03:35 PM

Helen, we are so thankful for you as well! So sorry to hear about your loss but thankful that both relatives knew the Lord and are in heaven with Jesus now- what a comfort!

Scrapacat 02-08-2018 03:56 PM

Isn't that the best comfort? Along with all the memories and those lifting you up. I pray you all can find peace during your loss.

smadson 02-08-2018 06:29 PM

Helen, I am so sorry for your double loss, but glad to hear they knew the Lord. My prayers are being said right now for you and your family as you deal with your grief.

Ladies, thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. HUGS

Hey friends! Julie, what is the theme for March? I am sitting here getting ready to do a page and looking for some inspiration.... Hugz to each of you.

Julie Gearinger 03-03-2018 04:08 PM

Hi Nancy! Wow, I cannot believe it is March already :-) We have been busy organizing and prepping a home for sale ....

The theme for March is Truth.... God's Word is Truth and there are so many verses that speak of the truth in His Word...

Have fun with this theme and I cannot wait to see your pages, sweet Sisters in Christ!! Hugs and God Bless!

Forest Ranger 03-05-2018 03:53 AM

Good Morning Fellow Bible Journalers!

Thanks Julie.... I always look forward to seeing the theme!

nwilliams6 03-06-2018 02:45 AM

Great theme, Julie. Easy too - the whole Bible is Truth.

I did do two pages last night - will load tonight or tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well. Hugz
