Teapotter's Choice - Summer Fun

Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something about the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun!

This week's challenge hostess is: jacqueline/Jacqueline

It’s a Teapotter’s choice!

CHALLENGE: Here on the coast of SE North Carolina, a thin line defines our seasons. We have all four but they’re not always as distinctive as in other parts of the country. Even in the fall/winter, the weather is usually mild. Spring is a blip and we’re often in full blown summer by the end of April. We’ve already had temps in the high 80s and 90s (back in March). So here we are, June…it’s definitely summer! What are your summer plans? Beach vacation? Relaxing by the pool? Or, perhaps a backyard BBQ? Make a card depicting your idea of summer fun then send it to someone you want to kick off the summer season with.

CARD TYPE/THEME: Summer fun!
DESCRIPTION: Making Cards for Our Troops began at a luncheon of retired ladies who used to work together in Annapolis, MD. One of the ladies always did a great deal of charity work for our military. She told us what was needed in care packages and also that they loved to receive cards. The group decided to make cards that the military members could send back to their loved ones and friends since they couldn’t buy cards on the bases where they were deployed. The original group of six volunteers has grown through the years. Last year they sent 73,650 cards to military bases in the continental USA and overseas. So far 2026 is well underway in terms of card making and our numbers are looking very good.

They also need funds to send the cards. If you can help in any way, you may contact them at cardsfortroops2398@gmail.com. They are a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Annapolis, MD and all of the money they receive goes to support their program. Donations are tax deductible and no one on their team of volunteers is paid.
