RAK DIC SURVIVOR!
Hello Ladies! A family friend is a DIC survivor, (where you bleed from the eyes, nose, ears and mouth profusely) 99.9% it ends in death. I am not even sure what SEPSIS or DIC is.
His name is Paul Goetz. He is in his 50's and is married to a wonderful woman named Anastasia. She is the one who donated all her time and money to decorate the reception at my wedding. They paid for the entire decorations for my wedding reception and did all the hand work themselves.
Anyway, last week he ended up with pneumonia, then it turned into SEPSIS, then into DIC. The doctors said they had to give him a shot to save his life, but in turn it may cause damage in other ways to his body. Well, he was aware enough to nod his head yes.
So they gave him the shot. In turn, due to lack of circulation in his legs, a couple of fingers and part of his nose, these body parts had to be amputated on Wednesday. This is day 16 for him in the ICU. I know that in 1975 he was in a bad accident that left him with poor circulation and a steel plate in his head. This did not help him when he contracted these new things, leaving him with amputation as the only option.
If you could send him a card, it would be mostly appreciated. You can send them to my sister, p.s. she is doing better also!

wow! how terribly awful!
but how amazing that he is surviving!!! sepsis is a systemic infection and dic is "Disseminated intravascular coagulation" which is described here:
