I ruined Christmas for my Mom
Last night at dinner, mom asked what time would we eat tomorrow. I said we are going home tomorrow. She said but I planned dinner. She insisted we had planned dinner. Even hubby said I heard her say last month Christmas day dinner was for her and dad. There was never any conversation about having Christmas day dinner with my parents. I even have the email about coming for Christmas eve dinner only and opening gifts. She stopped talking after I said for 3rd time we are not staying for dinner. So after dinner I just went upstairs to bed. This am my husband and I ate breakfast. Mom appeared and said you might as well go home. So we left w/o opening gifts and w/o any of the goodies she baked. Things didn't feel right the moment we walked in yesterday. First we were early. 2nd, I spilled water on her table. 3rd, I stepped on cat's tail. I can't please my mom all the time. My parent's moved to TN in July. She was so excited about having a big family holiday. Thanks for letting me vent.

oh i "ruin" christmas every year for both sets of parents. they get over it...

i've learned that a lot of people ignore what they wish to avoid and then they blame you.

the problem is theirs not yours.

So sorry
Were there any plans you couldn't change so you could have stayed? That's what I would have done, but I'm a pleaser.

*hugs* and breathe. It is ok. This isn't about you from what you have said here. TBH what I have found in life is the more I try to please people the less they seem to think of me so I am learning to please myself more.

It happens, people get their expectations up for the holiday's. I also have found with my parents, who are retired, think no one else has anything else to do, and why we can't be more flexible with our schedule.

She will get over it, mom's always do, and better luck next year.

My Mother passed away suddenly, a little more than 3 months ago. I feel broken , and this Christmas was SO hard. We were best friends.
It sounds so cliche, but - you just dont know what you got till its gone ...
Family is so important , and life ? Well, its just too short
