Hi everyone. Well, as we are trying to figure out what to do with our current printer, I have decided to ask a few questions.
I currently own a color laser printer for our business. It handles my heaviest wt. card stock fairly well. I can print on watercolor paper and then watercolor my digis. (I dont' have another method of coloring, no copics or pencils or gamasol).
So, what I want to know is, what printer are you all using to print your digis on if you do watercolor?

Hi Paula, I have a lazer printer it is a Cannon, and I use the watercolor paper to print out my digi, as I use Memento markers and watercolor pencils, I have had really good prints from it. If I happen to mess up and size something wrong, I just turn my paper over and print it again. Not sure if this helps you or not. Hugs Joan (LOTRhobbit)
Thanks Joan. I looked into the printer, it unfortunately is not rated to handle the heavier weight paper that I deal with for our business.

I have a Canon MP520 and it handles pretty much anything I can run through it. I've printed on vellum, watercolour paper, and 130# cardstock without any problems.
I use a Brother laser printer and run 140 lb wc paper through. Seems to work good so far! I will use the advanced settings and select Improved Toner Quality... guess that gives me an extra shot of toner.
Ok I am putting my two cents in here.. I have a HP 7300 Series and a Dell AIO Printer 926.. What print quality settings would you use? this is where I'm getting cornfused for the best not to smudge & smear.. I also read some where someone mentioned heat setting the ink so it dries..

From all that I've read about it, you should use the highest quality print settings your printer has when printing out your image. I also select greyscale printing so that it only uses black ink to print my image. I have a Canon MP520 and I haven't had any problems with it smearing using Copics. I usually let it dry over night or heat set the image if I want to use pencil crayons & oms. I usually use Wausau Exact Index 110# or 80# cardstock if I'm going to colour the image with pencil crayons. I use Domtar Cougar super smooth white 130# cardstock if I'm going to colour it with Copics. Either paper works for both techniques though.
HI everyone. Thanks for the feedback. I have an Epson RX680 also. But, I use watercolor pencils as my medium. And the ink DOES smear. I may try heat setting it this week, once I get the new area set up.
I know that inkjets are fine for many other mediums including copics, but since watercolor pencils are my ONLY medium, I have to find what works for that.

Nope. I just heat set it if I want to use the image right away. If I don't use it right away, then its fine to use the next day - at least for my printer/ink/paper combos.
Tim, could you tell me the brand of paper you are using, and what model number your printer is?

Kind of late but for what it's worth... Brother Laser HQ 1200 And Fabriano WC paper. Also a lot of Georgia Pacific 110lb card stock.
I'll leave my print out on my table and take my lamp and lower it to an inch off the paper to heat it while I do other things. I have one of those lamps on an arm.
