Default Can someone explain digi stamps to me?

Is this just a fancier way of saying downloadable coloring page? I don't get it?!

Who has the nicest digi stamps? Do you just use them on digi pages? I am completely in the dark on this one.

Artwork in a digital format. Can be manipulated digitally (flipped, colored, resized). Can be used on digital pages.

Images may be hand illustrated, then scanned and converted to digital format or digitally illustrated from the get-go.

Sometimes referred to as clip art.

For some reason the term "clip art" has a negative connotation that some digital stamp artists take offense to.

I love digi stamps/images/clipart!

It is a great way to cheaply get that perfect image that you want to use over and over. You can print it out as many times as you want and don't have to worry about it taking up too much room on your shelves.

It is just like having to stamp that perfect image, but you don't have to worry about cleaning the stamp or finding your ink.

they are usually right in front of me, but that doesn't mean I can see them. So frustrating! And that is when I know it is time to walk away for a while!

Very addicting and you can use them over and over and over again like stamps. Digi stamps are art images from great artist who allow us (for a small fee) to print their art onto cardstock or whatever paper we choose to use for our cards or whatever project we like and we can color them in on a color program like Adobe Photoshop (most come with brushes) or print them plain and color them in with markers such as Copics (my favorites).

Some of my fav digi stamps are: Mo's Digital Pencil, Hero Arts, Rachelle Ann Miller at http://creativestudios.rachelleannem.../products-page (hers are sooo cute!)

You can find a WONDERFUL list compiled from some great SCSer's here:

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...d.php?t=481964

Its a huge list, dont get overwhelmed lol hope I helped!

Oh and ps, I recommend if you do print them out to use a printer that wont smear its ink when you try to color them in, most laser printers dont have that problem. If you do have that problem try heat setting the image first or heat embossing it (but you have to be fast).

If nobody hears from me for the next 25 days or so, don't send out a search party. I'm right here going through this amazingly fun list! A whole new world has opened up...

I went to the Rachelle Ann Miller site looking for digi images, but I couldn't find any. Are you talking about her digital graphics? If so, the terms of use state that the graphics may only be used online and not printed. Am I overlooking something? I was intrigued by the idea that she may be offering digi images/stamps, but I won't violate the terms of use, KWIM?

After reading the Terms of Service for Rachelle Ann Miller's digital images, I can't imagine what anyone *could* do with them ... But maybe it's just because I'm not into all the social networks and such??

You may use the graphics in many ways: signature tags, myspace layouts,
blog layouts, email stationary, etc - as long as they are all for ONLINE use only.

I guess you can use them as Avatars as well.

Digi images are great, but like everything, some people like them some people don't!

I just used my first digital stamp on a card yesterday. I bought it for $3 from allthatscraps.com and printed it out on GP cardstock. I colored it with my Copics, and I did have a little smearing of the ink in two small places. Next time I will try heat setting it first and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip!

I do like that the image can be reprinted as often as I like, I don't have to get out any supplies, or clean and store a stamp. The image came out clean and clear in a matter of seconds, so all those were big pluses for me. Also, I was able to purchase and receive immediately, without paying for shipping or waiting for it to come in the mail. I think I'll continue to try them out and see how it goes.

If you want to see how the digi stamp turned out, there's photos of it and a review on my blog.

Maybe digital "stamps" is not quite the right word.

But whenever someone says "clipart" the picture I get in my head is that 1980's cartoon of the guy bashing his computer with a giant hammer (someone please say they know what I'm talking about). I guess I spent too much time viewing powerpoint presentations in corporate America...

I've seen some very beautiful and clever digital images - much better than the computer smasher....

I was looking for a digi stamp with a house and "We're Moving." I looked, but ended up getting overwhelmed and frustrated. Anybody have a suggestion?

Hi Leah! I have a house digital I drew... http://www.hambostamps.com/digitalmiscellaneous.htm bottom left. I don't have any sayings to go with it but it would be great for a moving card.

I'm in the process of trying out some digi images for the first time myself. I love that MyGrafico has almost a dozen "sets" you can try for free and get used to them before even buying (and I know I'll want to go back there when I do end up buying too!)

My question is this: I have an ink-jet printer and no plans on getting a laser one in the near future (too many other house projects that need the attention, kwim?) So, when people say "heat set" the image before coloring, do they mean: rub Versamark all over the image once printed and heat emboss it or is there some other way? If I do the above, would I be able to color the image in (since wouldn't the marker color smear off the embossed area anyway, or am I just totally clueless when it comes to that...it's ok, you can tell me! ) Thanks in advance!

with inkjet, after printing just heat image with your embossing machine, or leave on desk to dry.

I have used an ink jet (both a brother and an hp) and have not had any problems with ink bleeding when I color with copics. I have not needed to heat set.

If you have bleeding - you might want to experiment with a different cardstock. I use Neenah Calssic Crest and it works for me.
