It is possible that the artist's style has evolved over time, and they prefer not to have that digi image on the market representing their brand any longer.
Maybe it was retired because it wasn't a big seller so the owner decided to retire it to make room for more current stuff on the website? Not sure, but it could be a reason I suppose.
I would think that its probably for the same reasons as when a rubber stamp image is retired. A lot of people may have the image on their computer or on a cd, but other people won't be able to purchase the image (well at least they won't be able to legally).
Anita hit the nail on the head. For me anyway. I absolutely cringe at some of my first attemps at digital stamps. So I just pull them from the store.
I offer my rubber stamps in digital form as well, so I don't need to pull them for that reason. I probably shouldn't do that, but they're much more affordable in digital.
