Modifying Digi's?
I'm not sure what is or isn't acceptable for modifying digital images. I'm handy with Photoshop and inkscape and such, I'm just not really sure how much is too much? For an example, I have a nice stamp of flowers in a jar - but I don't like the jar and would rather have them in a different jar - so I remove the jar part of the image, add my own, and clean up the stems. With a rubber stamp I'd have just inked the part I wanted and drawn in the stems, but I know the use rules are different for digital images.
Do you use all yours as-is? Is it a big deal to modify them to suit my needs beyond basic resizing? Just to note this is only for personal use and sharing on here, I don't have a blog or sell cards. |
I personally don't think there is anything wrong in modifying the image to suit your needs as long as it is only for personal use and your not taking credit for creating the image. I use them the same way I would use a rubber stamp - if there's a part of the image I don't like, I mask it off and stamp. Your just creating a collage, so to speak, with your digi.

Each company should have a terms of use posted on their site that says what you can and cannot do with an image, some include it with the download of the image. Without a doubt, cat_woman is correct that you couldn't modify something and then call it your own, but I don't think that's what you mean, anyway. I would check out the terms of use just to be safe. Hope that helps! :)
