According to Microsoft you need to install an applet to search metadata....so in English..you need an application of some sort to find those tags you use to organize your images.

Basically, I just use the search feature in Windows to find words in the file names. I use that in combination with organizing my files by designer or subject. It's not a perfect system, but I'm too far into having far too many kits to tag them all! I manage pretty well!

OK, question for y'all ...
Some of you have photos that 'lift' off the page in the corners. How do you make that happen? I'm using My Digital Studio, so maybe I can't do it. But I have access to Photoshop Elements, and I'm not above "combining".
I am so glad I've started these challenges. Now ... to force myself back to paper and stamps for my cards!

I use photo frame elements--mostly by Katie Pertiet at Digital Designers. She has a bunch--I have several of her vintage photo kits. I think you can load them into a file for MDS.

Hey ladies I've been here on and off for the last couple of years and pop in to say hello occasionally (and enable freebies, heehee)
I started digiscrapping in '09 and now I almost exclusively do hybrid goodies. I design and sell templates, mostly 3D items and cards. I still consider myself a digiscrapper though since I use digi kits to make my projects!
I need to update my siggy, but here's my blog if you wanna check it out
WendyBird Designs - Have fun with hybrid!

i am in protest mode right now. my husband smokes 5 packs a cigarettes a week at over $9 a pack. i figure if we always have money in the budget for that, then there is money in the budget for craft supplies. of course there is not but if i am ever called to justify a purchase that is the card i use!
digital is still so much cheaper than regular scrapping. now if i didnt enjoy both so much....

Does anyone here is Adobe Lightroom? I just use iPhoto to categorize and store my photos, and also to edit them a bit. I recently started making a new folder to drag my fave images from specific events into for scrapbooking. Since I use mainly MDS kits I install them immediately after purchase and MDS keeps everything organized for me. For the album I just finished I used a couple of Creative Memories Universal format kits and a Kate Hatfield one and for those i added them to my components folder in MDS.

Don't have Lightroom, Terri. Actually don't know anything about it.
I just wanted to tell you again how much I loved your pages from your Make a Wish trip for Ben!
By the way, I think you should submit some or all of those pages to SU if they have any contests. That album is so awesome!

yay for a digital scrapbooking thread!!
i started digi-scrapping in 2008 when i stumbled upon it, looking for graphics for my website and blog clients. i was hooked immediately. i use PSCS6, but learned on PSE4, way back in the day. now i design digital products for two peas in a bucket (shameless plug)
i love to use both digital and paper products for projects. it gives you the best of both worlds. i love the feel of real paper products, but the ease of digital to do the "fancy" things.

I use Serif's Craft Artist Professional fro scrapbooking with (It's predessesor was called Digital Scrapbook Artist)
I've been digital scrapbooking for over 6 years. My first pages were done using a desktop publisher. I started digital art journaling in January this year. My favourite place for arty kits is Scrap Art Studio.

Vintage Photo frames and edges
Some of you wanted realistic vintage photo edges. Sale until the end of the month. After that they go back into retirement:
Sweet Shoppe Designs*::*ULTIMATE Undead Goodies*::*All The Stax by Robin Carlton
NOTE: I just downloaded these and discovered that they are stacks of 3 or 4 frames/pics, as if they've been tossed on top of each other, kind of overlapped. Not what I expected, but still cool.

actions
my actions/styles/brushes, etc are loaded into my photoshop elements. i keep a copy of the original file on an external hard drive in case of a crash. you must do actions, its like magic! i have been using pse for years and there is always something new to learn. its amazing to me.
i am not great at organizing. better on the computer than in my real life craft room. oh my lord i spent so much time looking for lost stuff on my table!

Pattie - practice using some of the pre-made templates around, and choose ONLY your favourites to put in the scrapbook. Doesn't mean you take less photos, it just means you stop pressuring yourself to put them ALL on a page (or in an album). If you love just one pic, use that ONE!! No rules to follow, means you're free to do it however you want!
PS - congratulations Grandma!!
