Default DGSC098 - More Than One Kind (01/22/13)

I get to post a double header today! It's my week to post both digi challenges!

PLEASE NOTE! Anyone is welcome to play--whether they're a digi, paper or hybrid scrapper.

As many of you know, I host the Digital Progressive Challenge each month. What you might not know, is there is more than one kind of progressive challenge!

For this weeks challenge, I want you to make a page using that other kind! Its a simple concept.

1. First, make a smaller scrap page (it can be any size smaller than 12x12, but I recommend 8.5x11 for this challenge. [You can leave off a title if desired.]

2. After you complete that page, open a new, separate 12x12 document and copy the original completed page to the new 12x12 document. Now, add background paper(s) and top it off with as many or few embellishments, border, etc. that pleases you. If you didnt use a title on the smaller page, you can add one to the larger page if you want. Journaling too, if desired.

SAMPLES:

HERE is an example of a progressive page done using paper supplies rather than digi. As youll note, the scrapper, Creative Tracks, used 3 steps to make her page--a little mini page w/photo & journaling spot, added to a larger page (brown polka dot), then made that into 12x12.

My page started out as a page for a calendar Im making, but I wanted to make a page for my DGDs' album as well, so I added the rectangular page to a 12x12.

I hope these instructions aren't too confusing. If you have questions, you can post them here or PM me!

You can view all submissions for this challenge in the Gallery here: DGSC098

To add your page to this gallery and the monthly scrapbook gallery just add DGSC098 and SBC13JAN when uploading. Also, please take a minute to post a link to your sample page on this thread so we wont miss seeing your work!

I really love making progressive pages. I haven't tried it on digital - yet. Fun challenge!

Several years back, in my early days at SCS, I made a few "paper" progressive pages, using 3 steps. That is fun.

One can also make a hybrid page--an original smaller page as digi printed out with a standard 8.5x11" printer, then add it to a 12x12 paper page. I've made several of those. It's a great way to print out pages with a standard printer and still put it in a 12x12 scrapbook or frame.

Your page about the hornbill Legos is so nice, Angela. I love the layering and watercolor in the background--well, I love it all, really.

Speaking of hornbills, how did you choose your name, Toucan Scraps?

Why Toucan Scraps? When I first started blogging I chose to use the Toucan for my blog site, because it's my husband's favourite bird/animal. In the past when we've briefly discussed setting up a family website, Toucan kept coming up in the options for names, and themes. So the Toucan was to honour my husband in my blogging. My main hobby is scrapbooking so I named the blog Toucan Scraps and News, a place to share family news and my love of scrapbooking. Over time I became known as Toucan Scraps, people started calling me that when they referenced my blog posts etc, and when I started designing it became my design name. I was advised to change all my forum and other online names to Toucan Scraps just before I went Pro.

It's funny how things evolve. I really like your name. Mine came from a nickname I used to have at one of my first job. I worked at a small law firm and one of the ladies started adding "ella" to several people's names just for fun. Mine stuck. Now many of my online friends who see me in in person call me that. Some of them put the emphasis on the second syllable, but it's really on the first. (Picky, picky )

Hey, this is a good topic for a thread!
