Default Birds & an Owl (in Basic Grey style)

birdiesowl-melstampz-SMALL.jpgcuttlebugchallengeXTRASMALL.jpg

These critters are doodles inspired by my favourite Basic Grey set 'Gone Fishing.' It's just a regular PDF & JPG (no transparency, since I don't know how to do that yet), but they work okay for me. Hope they work for you! Let me know if they give you any trouble. ;O)

Attached here:

1) Birdies & Owl PDF
2) Birdies & Owl JPG (shows in thumbnail)

Templates for the box here: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...d.php?t=447043

blog tutorial here:http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2009/0...mal-homes.html

I embossed these on cardstock that was brushed with gesso (just sprinkle on embossing powder on the ink straight from your printer.)

*Please note, I'm not sure what gesso might do to your printer, but I've done this for a whole year now and my printer is AOK. With the price of printers today, I feel okay experimenting.

Hope these offer some fun,
:O)

Hi Meda,

Thank You for asking about Gesso, so I can blather on about the love of my life... ;o)

I love gesso for a million things (some are in this post), but it's THE best for letting you emboss digital images. Of course, you can't normally emboss them from your printer.

1-Paint gesso on cardstock (and let cure well. At least over night)
later...
2-Gather all your supplies & Print an image on your gesso cardstock (I like the standard setting)
3-Quickly sprinkle embossing powder on the ink
4-Heat set it.

More about embossing digis here. Once you start embossing things from your printer; though, you can easily get hooked! :O)

Gesso is one of the messier ways of doing this, but I love the texture it can give you (and the way that Copics are erasable with it !ahhhh!) :O) You can also use some metallic papers to emboss digis. Great for Copic colouring digis since the embossing doesn't bleed. :O)

Gesso papers let you emboss Stampin Up markers like crazy too. (okay now I'd better stop! ;O) Hope that helps.

Thanks. I get it now. I will have to try it one day. Wonder when that day will come because I have a super busy life.

OMG, Mel! YOU ROCK GIRL! You make the most awesome 3D projects! Thanks for sharing another set of fun images. Man, I've got to get some me some gesso! Have you tried gesso colored with prismacolor pencils yet? I'd love to know the results until I can get some gesso myself (I know you've been successful with copics).

Ouuuuuu! Alma! That sounds amazing. Never tried the prismacolour on gesso, but I can't wait to get some and give it a go. Gesso is the love of my life, so I'll go out on a limb (teehee) and say that I'm sure it'll work. The only thing I can think of is if it melts the acrylic when you use gamsol... but you could try with acrylic paints. If you want to get more tooth for the pencil, maybe sand it? I can't wait to hear about your experiments!!! XOX mel

Hi Angela,

Thank You! I've never used clear, but now I have to get my hands on some! I have had fun with clear gel medium (which may be very similar.) I love the clear gel med. on digis (there's a post on impasto with that here.) http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2009/0...nts-index.html

White gesso is my fave, but sounds like I need to shop! I'd love to see anything you make with it. It's worth experimenting in my book. :O)
