New and Confused about color challenge...

I am very new but would like to submit a card for today's challenge (4/1/14)...The color challenge. I understand that colors used must be within the same color family but am confused as to whether a specific color family has been designated or if the choice is optional. Would appreciate any information! Anxious to get started! Many Thanks...
