CC#44: Taken with Teal, Yoyo Yellow, and Rose Red

Hello, and welcome to this week's edition of Color Challenge, I'm your host, Karen (thanks MamaK!!).

*Please put CC44 in the keyword box when you upload!*

This weeks color challenge is to use Taken with Teal, Yoyo Yellow, and Rose Red. You may add a neutral as well.

I had fun creating this as I took two of the colors from the poll "Least Used SU Inks". So put your creativite juices to the test and post your card!

Here is my sample:

Enjoy and happy stamping!

I am in desperate need to buy more ink. I would love to participate in a lot of these challenges, but don't have most of the colors that are chosen. Hope to be able to participate soon!

If you still want to play you can substitute colors that are close. In your comments just say that you didn't have all the colors and give your substitutions. From my understanding these challenges are to get your creative juices flowing - the rules aren't strict. The important thing is for you to play!

I'm hoping to get to this challenge tonight!

kthaman 01-10-2006 05:23 AM

Thanks mackbrad -- These challenges are for fun and to help you try something you haven't done before.

Gina which colors don't you have? If you like help coming up with another, but similar scheme, PM me!

basement stamper 01-10-2006 05:57 AM

Sounds like fun!

Love that card for the example!! These colors always scare me...so that's why I always try and make it a point to try this challenge. I'll see what I can do later on! Thanks for hosting!!

PenelopePitstop 01-10-2006 07:58 AM

jumpin' on the thread, so that when cards are posted, I can find 'em.

Sereikastamper 01-10-2006 08:30 AM

Hmmm now this has got to be among the most interesting color challenges yet...

Babsnelson 01-10-2006 08:31 AM

I'm going to try this one, but I don't have Taken w/Teal or Rise Red. I think I have an old tealish marker that I could try and maybe Regal rose...we'll see what I come up with.

Great challenge.

newinker 01-10-2006 08:41 AM

Definitely going to have to mull over this one. Im not so Taken with Teal. LOL :D

Keri, you are one of my idols, please tell me you meant that in a good way ~LOL (even if you didn't :) )

Just tryin' to get some love going for those colors that are misunderstood :)

kthaman 01-10-2006 08:47 AM

For those of you without those colors, you could try Tempting Turquoise, Yoyo, and Regal; or Brilliant, Red, Yoyo. The color combo is a bright and fun one -- so have fun :)

bekster 01-10-2006 08:51 AM

I will give this one some play this evening. I know I have Teal paper, but will have to substitute the ink with Sage or Turquoise. Sounds like a fun combo - especially for kid cards! I'm thinking nieces and nephews birthdays . . . teacher thank yous, party invitations . . . hmmmmmmmm.

Karen, please I don't want to be an idol....
and no I didn't mean that it was interesting in a bad way at all! I am sorry if that is how it came across....I mean, interesting cause I STINK at those colors.....and with the mood I am in today....wellll let's just say......I am scared to see what I do! LOL I will try to get one done later, I am going on a picnic lunch with my boys and DH and then I have a chiro appt this afternoon....but somewhere in there I will see what I can do!

Babsnelson 01-10-2006 09:26 AM

I really liked this challenge - however, I LOVE yoyo yellow (no dissin' me!) and I'm planning on getting Taken w/Teal soon. I think this a great combo for kids , just substitute Turquiose for Teal and there you go!!

Here's my card (with a little improvization):

NaomiLynne 01-10-2006 09:47 AM

interesting combo... will have to try it when my christmas stamp order arrives later today! the only color I am unsure about is the yellow, i think I've used my ink pad once. I love how scs stretched our creativity. THanks for posting this week's combo!

inkpad 01-10-2006 10:03 AM

I think you guys are right....this is a great kids color combo and that is not, shall we say, my strong point. Since I've had more requests for kids' cards I guess that means I can count this as "work" time instead of playtime, huh? ....Off to work I go.....

inkpad 01-10-2006 10:08 AM

You know what...I can't even find scraps of teal or yoyo...and I HAVE scraps.

WordTrix 01-10-2006 10:13 AM

Wow, interesting color combo. I can't even remember the last time I used YoYo Yellow. Will have to play with these later!

Hey, Karen... are you trying to outdo me on the shock factor :) Just kidding.

I don't have taken with teal ink, but I have cs. Maybe VersaMark?

Cool stamps by CTMH on your card. Just right for a bright surprise card.

emilymomto3boys 01-10-2006 10:38 AM

Hmmm...I'll have to think on this one. I am afraid I might have a stomach bug so I am off to lay down! Can't even get the energy to play with my SAB order that came last night!

denier 01-10-2006 11:17 AM

here's my first color challenge today, i think i'll try another later....

trisharawles 01-10-2006 12:28 PM

This was really fun!! I pulled out these scraps and thought retro! Thought of On the Spot. Used a Becky Flecky sketch from July 2005, what fun!!
Thanks for the push to use this stuff just sittin around! :)

Heres my card, pending approval at 3:22 CST

hee hee...that certainly wasn't the intent, but it sure seems to have shocked people. Hopefully it won't scare them away -- or the next hostess won't be happy!

kthaman 01-10-2006 01:13 PM

Thank you ladies for giving it a try!!

scrapbooker703 01-10-2006 01:21 PM

Well, I didn't have Taken with Teal or Rose Red so I substituted Tempting Turquoise and Real Red - this is what I came up with:

auntynanny 01-10-2006 02:00 PM

Definitely a tough combination but it's great 'cause it's always nice to get out of the rut that I can tend to get into. See here's my first attempt - I have another idea that I'm going to try (hopefully).

PenelopePitstop 01-10-2006 02:06 PM

it's not a bad combo... I'm just stuck with which set I should use.

craftycacky 01-10-2006 02:18 PM

Only had the yellow ink pad, but my markers came to the rescue! Fun colors to work with, not sure I'm lovin' what I did though. Thanks for the challenge Karen!

rlsjohnson 01-10-2006 02:19 PM

I gave it a try.....

This was VERY CHALLENGING (but fun) for me....I think my hang up was the yoyo yellow. It's not one of my favorites. I need to wait for the crystal effects to dry, then I'll scan and post. :)

JusColorado 01-10-2006 02:48 PM

This was a real challenge for me because these are so NOT my colors. But, that's what the challenges are all about. Thanks, Karen.

Love Ya Man

kthaman 01-10-2006 02:54 PM

You ladies are doing a great job with this challenge!! Way to bring it!

Ellibelle 01-10-2006 03:07 PM

Ellibelle 01-10-2006 03:14 PM

Just looked at all your cards for this challenge!! I won't have time to comment on each one, but I want everybody to know I love all of them!!!

kittie747 01-10-2006 03:27 PM

I really liked this color combination. Thanks for the good challenge.

jsbrooketrout 01-10-2006 04:07 PM

OK.... Here's mine! This was so against my normal comfort zone for colors, but that what makes it a challenge... right? Hope you like it!!
