Hi! I'm your guest hostess this week. Since my card was approved in a snap, I'm posting early :)

*Please put CC43 in the keyword box when you upload!*

Your colors this week are:

Have fun stamping! Here's a sample.

What a lovely card! I'm new to the challenges (last week was my first) and SCS. I can't wait to give this one a try. Thanks so much! :)

emilymomto3boys 01-02-2006 06:25 PM

orchid opulence, really?!?!?! That's a rarely used color for me so this should be fun!

altds34 01-02-2006 06:30 PM

Here is mine-still pending, but thought I would post it anyway.

These colors are so bright and cheery! Thanks for the challenge!

Farmwife 01-02-2006 06:36 PM

Well it's been a while since I've had time to do a challenge so I thought tonight would be a good night to get back into the swing.

Here is the link, still pending at 9:35 pm central time.

I'm playing. Thanks for posting this early. Sounds like fun!

lacyquilter 01-02-2006 07:02 PM

Oh, I am definitely in on this. Never would have thought of using these colors together, but I love your card, Jen.

Jami 01-02-2006 09:56 PM

I go back to work tomorrow after being off for over a week. I wanted toget one more card in before bed. I can't decide if I like it or not, but it was fun!

Such a cool card...you don't want to miss it!

mamakimberly 01-03-2006 05:18 AM

Wow, that is truly a funky color combo! I can't wait to test it out! It looks really cute though!!

basement stamper 01-03-2006 05:23 AM

Yes, it really IS a "funky" color combo and I will be going "outside" my box with this one! A little scary!

Good luck with things MamaK! I'm sure you'll be missed!;)

Julia S 01-03-2006 05:54 AM

My apologies Jen! I cringed when I heard the color combo!:( I tried it and I really like it! Thanks for forcing me out of my comfort zone:)

jsbrooketrout 01-03-2006 06:04 AM

Here's mine.... I haven't done a challenge in ages and am ready to get back into it!! I felt alot like Julia in that these are colors that are out of my box, so I really enjoyed this. It was a true challenge! Thanks Jen!

PenelopePitstop 01-03-2006 06:10 AM

I have never used my orchid. The ink and CS are still in the package they came in when I bought it--2 years ago.

hmmm... I'll have to ponder this one a bit before I can play.

CardFanatic 01-03-2006 06:33 AM

Well.... I have been told I'm not afraid of color! But this color combo was... do I admit it?

It was an accident! LOL! There's a long story you probably don't want to hear, though!

CardFanatic 01-03-2006 06:36 AM

I'm LOVIN' the cards you have made. So, I guess it was a good accident :)

Sorry - it was late when I did that! I'll go back and fix my post.

Julia thanks for finding it!

CardFanatic 01-03-2006 07:02 AM

OK... here it is. It all started with planning for my middle school after school stamping intramural. I have a group of 10-12 students rotating around stations to make their trading cards (This is more popular than the standard greeting cards, btw.) I have learned through trial and error, to put one or two main sets with sentiments at each table (3). They usually want to make their own designs, but I make 4 samples at each table. I don't have 2 of any ink pad except black. So, I have to plan this very carefully so the ink pads are not jumping tables (I've done that... sigh!)

OK. So yesterday, I made 3 trading cards with my new fave set, Sweet & Sassy. I made the butterflies in orchid. I made flowers in only orange and the strawberries in rose red. I needed one more for the heart. I'm already using real red at another table. For some reason I wasn't happy with ruby yesterday and I didn't want another all rose red card. I already used orchid. Maybe rose and orchid would go together. It needed more. orange? Nah. What? I haven't used saffron yet. What would that look like? I loved it. Trading cards for table 2 done, one more table to go. I'm still not done with table 3 because I kept looking at that trading card wondering if I could make it into a standard sized card. You now have the final result with a shocking color combo and a ton of comments. I'm stunned.

Oh, here are the trading cards that started it!

Sereikastamper 01-03-2006 07:10 AM

OK so that is just the coolest story!!!!

lacyquilter 01-03-2006 07:13 AM

Jen, there is no way, never ever, not one iota of a chance that I would have ever put rose red & orchid opulence on the same card, no, no! But when I saw your card, I liked it, so I thought, ok, I'll give it a shot. I spent way too long making this card & I should have stamped the center of the flowers to give them more dimension, but other than that, I love how the card turned out. Here's the link to my card. It's already approved.

lisastamper 01-03-2006 07:15 AM

Jen,
I love this color combo, even though it isn't something I would have put together myself! Thank you for helping us to think outside our comfort zone! I'm looking forward to using Orchid--one of my most underused colors!:)

Melissa2boys 01-03-2006 07:19 AM

Here is my card, it was inspired by Scrappinbitty (she received it in a swap). I had already done all the stamping but I couldn't figure out how to place it together.

Here is my card, but I must admit, I am not liking this color combo...I guess it is the oo that throws me, ha! I did enjoy doing the cc challenge though. I could not find the set I used in the member galleries, so it must have been an appreciation set??

I think it is still pending, but here it is:\

Thanks for the fun color challenge Jen!! :)

stampinamy16 01-03-2006 08:51 AM

OK Jen, I'll admit it - I amost spit out my quesadilla I'm eating all over my desk, but THEN I looked at your sample and said WOW! This is great! Totally a color combo that I would use (now that it was introduced to me!). I'll say it again - Jen, DO NOT get a color wheel! You do great on your own! Can't wait to play when I get home!

:) Amy

Thanks, Jen, for the fun challenge!

I finally got the Christmas tree down and had time this morning to try out some of my Christmas stamps. My wonderful daughter-in-law chose this fabulous floral set from Technique Tuesday for me.

I thought this week's color challenge was a perfect place to try it out.

WOW!

This was way too hard for me! I don't how you guys put these colors together and make them look so good!!! I've uploaded what I did, but still pending noon CT.

http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...95543&cat=4473

Thanks so much for "making me" think outside the box!!

Babsnelson 01-03-2006 09:31 AM

This was a real challenge for me. I only have Regal Rose paper, so I used that and white. I only have an OO marker and Regal Rose and So Saffron in Spots. Thus the general lack of stamping on this one!

Here's my card (still pending approval as of 12:30 CT):

Here's mine:

I'm having a terrible time with a new scanner. If there's much white around the stamped image, the colors are showing way too bright. It's very aggravating. :(

Pinky 01-03-2006 10:28 AM

Ok, Jen, I am liking this color challenge so much more using a different set of stamps made all the difference in the world for me. I love this set...

I think it is still pending, but here it is:

grammatroll 01-03-2006 10:34 AM

Wow!!! AWESOME cards everyone. You all have done wonders with this color combo. Some accidents happen for a reason, huh, Jen.

Julia S 01-03-2006 11:51 AM

Another color challenge card combined with the marker/ways to use it challenge....

emilymomto3boys 01-03-2006 12:41 PM

Here's mine! I was really skeptical of this combo, but I love it! Fab job Jen! I have NEVER ordered orchid paper in the two years I have been stamping...just a few sheets from a mulitipack!
