It's that Time again! SPRING DT search is on!
 

I worked in MACY's in Manhattan back in the day...I even got to participate in the Thanksgiving day Parade (I was a clown LOL)! I have many fond memories of that store and I loved visiting each floor and being inspired by the displays, products and people there.


To enter the competition for this Clean & Simple DT search, make a CAS card following the instructions posted on March 14th at about 8:00 PM EST. And then post in this thread with a link to your card.

Who can play for a DT spot? Anyone except store owners and past CAS DT members. (But you can play just for the fun of a challenge. )

Standard Expectations for a DT member : I need you to post your sample for each challenge on Sunday evening between 9PM - 10PM EST. You may miss 1 or 2 weeks do to illness or emergencies. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FIRST DAY FOR THIS TEAM WILL BE SUNDAY, MARCH 31st (EASTER SUNDAY) You will be participating in choosing the challenges for the season during your 2nd week as a DT member. When the season is ending and a new DT search is going on, I would like you to help with the judging, especially in the final round.

CAS Spring Design Team Schedule 13 challenges (April 2013 - June 2013)

In addition to the four new DT members, there will be a guest designer each week (13 total) If you would like only to be considered as a guest designer, please let us know on the thread and/or in the comment section of your card when uploading.

TIP: This is a contest for CLEAN & SIMPLE . We all push the definition once in awhile and while we LOVE to see people change things up and see the challenge in different ways, it makes it difficult to judge for the design team. This is why in this case we lean towards the conservative CAS designs.

Advice: Please remember that everyone who participates wants very badly to be on the design team. The reason why Jen started the guest designers was so that more could get involved. That said, there will always be disappointments. Please remember it also comes with more opportunities. This happens every 3 months. Four times a year is great for this type of event! To do it more often would be too stressful. These events take a lot of time I always love doing them. And it's easier and happier when everyone is a good sport. We do this for YOU! (In fact, the CAS challenge was the very first challenge to have a design team!) We want as many people as possible to experience being on the team. Some people may have to wait longer than others, but waiting builds perseverance and strength. Please have fun!!!

Photos: Please remember the clearer the photo of your card is, the better it will look. Make it stand out and make us say "WOW!" Photo software programs have editing options. The most important ones for us are the lighting and sharpness features.

THIS will be the ONLY thread for these challenges- I find it's easier to keep them all together so I will leave posts open following this one for the upcoming challenges.

Challenge #1 First Floor- COSMETICS

COSMETICS!

Challenge #1:

I LOVE the cosmetics section at the department store...mostly because they let you play and try it all out before you buy it! So for this first challenge let's PLAY!

For this first challenge I was to see what you can do with things like paint, wet embossing, re-inkers, etc. Take out that acrylic paint you bought on sale....break out your favorite colored embossing powders....try out some crackle paint or rock candy from Ranger....use your water brush or a wet paintbrush with your kids' water color paints (the 99 cent store ones are awesome!) ...... anything as long as it's not the usual ink and stamp.

Woohoo! The lingerie department! The last time I was in this department I bought a pair of fuzzy slipper- flip flops. Goes to show what a party pooper I can be! But I'd like to see this challenge get a little spicy, so.... You MUST include some kind of animal or animal print on your card.

PS I know there are 14 GD's....I couldn't make a few decisions... so the Spring Term will go 2 extra weeks to July 8th. Technically, September is still summer to me in Florida so the Summer Team is ok!

ohhh, I knew I was early but popped in anyway. Fingers crossed I can steal some nap time to play this afternoon - definitely need to put my thinking cap on for this one!

I also worked at Macy's - in San Fransisco in 1970-71 in the office, tabulating sales during Christmas (before computers!) We worked about ten hours a day and rarely got to see anything in the actual store.

I am so honored to be invited! Thank you. I don't wear makeup, but I do know how to play! :D
