LancasterLurker,

Please accept my condolences on the miscarriage. Several years ago, I suffered a few miscarriages before I learned I had PCOS. They were early on in the pregnancy but heartbreaking nonetheless. Thoughts and prayers coming your way.

I had so much fun using my brass stencils to finish off my February cards (which I just did this morning) that I kept on going and did my first March card as well. Here it is:

It's good to be caught up and just have to do five more for March.

I am so sorry about the miscarriage. My daughter had a miscarriage last month. What did you find out from your doctor? Praying all goes well.

WOW! Can you believe the month is half gone, and Christmas is almost 9 months away! LOL Sorry, I had to point that out!

This week I'd like to challenge you to think GREEN!

I know that's such a traditional Christmas color, but it's so pretty!

Holly, Trees, Wreathes, oooh here's one, MONEY HOLDERS! Now there's some green they all love! LOL

This challenge is completely OPTIONAL, just an idea for you

CCC11 Xmas Card Challenge-Mar 2011 Set of 8 by sodell - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Well, let's hope I actually did this correctly....I had all kinds of technical difficulties (first my pixels were too big, so I couldn't upload my cards, then my internet crashed, etc).
Above is the link to one of the set of 8 cards (the set of 8 are posted to my tiny gallery right before it). I thought I was saving a ton of time by using a pre-colored image, which is SO cute (Emma the Caroler from Fred She Said), but with the cutting, layering, decorating, it was a bit putzy. But if I had to color then all I would still be doing them in December!!!!

Please let me know if I linked this correctly. Thanks so much!!!!

Thanks, Helen, and I am so glad my link works!
I found many pre-colored images at FSS, that will work well to cut and layer. The coloring on then is outstanding! Can't wait to use them in other projects. The was just something about Emma the Caroler that caught my eye.

You are so right about Emma the caroler. After seeing this card, I had to check out FSS. I have a long wish list.

Jingle Bells Lyrics, Free Jingle Bells Song Lyrics

Believe it or not Jingle Bells, one of the most famous American Christmas songs, was originally written for Thanksgiving! The author and composer of Jingle Bells was a minister called James Pierpoint who composed the song in 1857 for children celebrating his Boston Sunday School Thanksgiving. The song was so popular that it was repeated at Christmas, and indeed Jingle Bells has been reprised ever since.

"Jingle Bells", originally "One Horse Open Sleigh", is one of the best known and commonly sung secular Christmas songs in the world. It was written by James Lord Pierpont (18221893) in 1857 or before. The song has been translated into many languages as well.

Various stories of the song's origins give the place of composition as Savannah, Georgia, Boston or Medford, Massachusetts. An oft-repeated story is that he wrote it to be sung at a Thanksgiving program at his church in Savannah or Boston, and because of its instant popularity, it was repeated at the Christmas program. The copyright was granted in 1857, and at that time Pierpont was serving as the organist for a Unitarian congregation in Savannah.

Jingle Bells

Dashing through the snow
On a one-horse open sleigh,
Over the fields we go,
Laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring,
Making spirits bright,
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh

A day or two ago,
I thought I'd take a ride,
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank;
Misfortune seemed his lot;
He got into a drifted bank,
And we, we got upsot.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

A day or two ago,
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh,
He laughed as there
I sprawling lie,
But quickly drove away.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

Now the ground is white
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bob-tailed bay
Two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you'll take the lead.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
What fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

Thanks for posting all the verses........ I don't think I ever paid any attention to the last two at other times. The rain is washing our snow away today.

Hola Vikijo, we actually sang Jingle Bells today, well our version, when our local football team win at an away match we sing, Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it it to watch Mazarron win away, and other verses changed to the football theme. obviously the spanish supporters thing we are totally mad, which we are but it always makes them smile, they obviously know the tune but wonder why the crazy brits are singing it in March.
