Hence the nickname, "crack peanuts". Because they are highly addictive.

Chocolate peanut clusters are easy, but time consuming. Although I would have preferred to make them, I needed to get the laundry started, so I did that and wrapped a few presents. But I suppose it's time to start melting chocolate now. I roasted the peanuts yesterday so they are ready to go.

Oh, I came over here to ask Wrose a question.

Are the Giants going to continue to play at Candlestick Park or are they moving to the new stadium by you, too?

And I'm sorry about Hertl. I didn't click on the link for the article but the title says enough.

Oh my dear, the Giants haven't been in Candlestick for a number of years! In fact, they've been playing at AT&T park in the city since 2000! Even Barry Bonds had "splash hits" back in his days there.
AT&T Park | SFGiants.com: Ballpark

It was really great when they moved out of Candlestick. I haven't ever been to the new stadium, but I saw Tom Glavine pitch for the Braves in Candlestick before they moved. I guess it was soon after we moved out here.

Candlestick will be taken down. They've already sold the seats to season ticket holders that wanted them (literally) and then offered the rest to the public. About $700 a pair, I think.

So now the Giants are in the city down by the water, and the 49ers will be five miles from me. (As the crow flies.)

Oh. Whoooops. You can see how closely I follow baseball, huh.
I don't think we get many games from out west on our stations, unless they are playing Baltimore or Washington or even Atlanta.

Ha ha! Yeah I figured. DH didn't realize it had been quite that long either. Still seems "new."

The Braves are also going to build a new stadium, on the northwest outskirts of Atlanta. The Ted is still brand new to me, but was built for the Olympics. The new stadium will take a few years.

If the Atlanta area wants another hockey team, they've got to do the same thing, build it in the northern suburbs. I'm sorry but hockey fans are still mostly white and a downtown stadium just didn't work. If the Braves can make it out there, so can hockey.

ERK, I saw on FB that one of your boys was sick. I hope he's feeling better now and that it wasn't contagious.

When a child vomits from the top bunk in an RV in the only bedroom pretty much ALL the bedding, quilts, pillows, blankets and duvets need to be washed. DH hung the quilts over the line in the dark last night and hosed them down. By the morning it was pouring with rain and stayed so for the rest of the day. Everything was finally clean and dry by about 5pm. DH shampooed the carpet in the RV then we ran the generator so the a/c could run to dry things out. We spent most of the day in the inlaws house (again ). I did laundry, cooked lunch, shopped, melted chocolate and dipped the biscotti, finished wrapping gifts then we came back to Harvey and decorated the gingerbread RV. Well, DH kind of took over there but he had fun. Pictures taken and will be posted soon. Just made the beds and thrown the kids in, took a quick shower and will be heading for bed ourselves in a few minutes, too.

Chocolate peanut clusters are chilling in the storage room. It's an unfinished room only accessible from our carport, so it's a lot colder in there than in the house.

Actually, it would probably be pretty comfortable for Jane... *teasing grin*

DH wants the computer to post pictures so I'll say goodnight. Tomorrow is when we're doing our "Christmas Dinner". Looong story which will be told. Then there is the story of way out of date food and drink- so bad that even the kids look at the packaging before eating anything! OK, back tomorrow.

Yeah popcorn, not cookies. Sigh.

Most of the time, I handled the kids' issues at night. DH had to get up for work, after all. But sometimes, it takes two. One to take the kid and one to do the bedding. Sounded like you needed a whole village!

It is -4 degrees right now. That's BEFORE the windchill.

Absolutely too cold to drive to work and sit in an office with the other dozen people who didn't want to use up a vacation day.

Seriously office will be 90% empty and we were told we could leave at 2pm anyway. They are nice like that on the days before holidays.

So I am going to work from home. I have to draft high level requirements for a global navigation change project so that's a good thing to do from home.

Here's our masterpiece. I have yet to open the fridge this morning to see if it collapsed completely!

They don't bother and just eat it. There is mouldy bread but they still toast it. because, and I quote from FIL here " the dates on packaging are a ploy by the food companies to get you to throw good food away" I don't know what planet he's from. DH is very frustrated with his father at the moment over all sorts of things so we'll all be glad when Christmas is over and we leave here next Monday.

Oh, oh and besides having the fridge freezer which most people have they have 2 other large freezers. I dread to think how old some of that stuff is. Not surprising things go bad when they can't see what or how much of something they have. There are the 2 of them and they only really eat one meal a day. They also don't know what the word vegetable means. The only leafy greens we've had are when DH and I bring them over. Ack.

It went really well. The dentist was very, very good and I had no major pain from the work. The one who did the filling wasn't as good but it's done and I just need to finish my antibiotics. He gave me a 2 week course. Seems a long time.

Y'all keep me away from Heather the cashier at Target because her lack of common sense has me completely ticked off right now.

We were planning to give the boys' band portraits to their grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousin for Christmas. We also had a bonus picture (long story) so I thought they'd frame that one and give it to DH to have on his desk at work. I bought frames yesterday at Target.

YDS was talking with me while our purchase was being rung up so I didn't realize until we got home that Heather had just put all the frames into one bag together. She didn't add any sort of protective wrapping around them.

The corner of one frame cracked and is completely demolished. It was just a plastic frame, nothing really expensive. It was actually part of a set of 4 wrapped together, which seemed perfect for my two sisters and my niece and DH's brother. But anyway, that frame is now useless.

For each set of grandparents, I'd picked out a double frame - two wooden frames hinged together. Because Heather didn't wrap those separately, the hinges on one frame scratched the wood of the other frame. Like, too badly to try to hide by coloring it with a brown marker.

I am TICKED OFF about this inconvenience.

I'm thinking that what I'll have to do is just wait to give the ones to my side of the family until we get together in January. (My sister in Northern VA is visiting her husband's family on Christmas Day.) That will allow me time to replace the double frame. And I suppose we'll nix the idea of framing one for DH, and let BIL have that frame.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

DH and I have prepped Christmas Dinner which we're eating this evening ( because golden child doesn't arrive until 26th and MIL ain't cooking then). Almost done then MIL comes in from shopping. I told you earlier that the fridge and freezers are full and now there is even more stuff to find room for.

And we had carols and other Christmas music playing - yeah apparently FIL doesn't like music playing in the house. Tough.

So now we're sitting in Harvey - thank god for Harvey - and the local rednecks are just firing guns for no apparent reason.

Leona and her kids are coming over tomorrow for Christmas dinner, then after we eat will probably go see the Hobbit/Smaug movie. So there'll be 6 of us. They spend Christmas Eve at her sister's.

I told Leona I'm keeping it very simple. With my NY sister not coming out, I was looking forward to very low key, not a lot of cleaning and prep.

So I have a spiral ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and jello salad. Leona is bringing appetizer, bread/rolls and dessert. The jello salad is made and in the fridge. The tablecloth is ironed and the table set. It's my mom's embroidered poinsettia cloth that she bought in Honduras in 1967. One of my favorite cloths. No fancy centerpiece, just red candles. I do need to mop and vacuum still.

Then, I need to make the sugared shortbread for her Dad. The dough got mixed last night and it is in the fridge, I just have to roll, stamp and bake. Since it is a gift, the pressure's on....I'll tackle them soon.

Hey it's free penicillin!

My mom used to scrape mold off of a cheese block and use the rest. Grossed me out. But she grew up during the Depression, and you didn't waste food.

ERK, you have my sympathy. Ugh. Glad you have Harvey to retreat to!

My MIL had an extra freezer but she used to bake like crazy for their annual party between Christmas and New Year's, and fill the freezer. Apparently they did get rid of it in recent years, though. And of course you know the old fridge got replaced in August. It was a 1964 model.

PH, you have my permission to smack said cashier up side the head. Now you'll have to wait in a return line too. Although you do have a bunch of time to do that. I think Target gives you 90 days? I'd be tempted to go buy new stuff, avoid the return lines, and then take the broken ones back after the lines are gone. Idiots.

The second tray of the SU stamped shortbread cookies is out of the oven. Nothing burned or cracked, stamped snowflakes look great, and they are positively giftable

I'll keep behind a half dozen or so as a backup plan for dessert, along with ice cream. Leona is a sweetie but she tends to experiment with her baking. She tries to substitute things (like beets for sugar) and she cuts the fats and sugars way back. I get that it is healthier but in baking it sometimes affects the texture, etc, especially for a holiday dinner. So if anyone doesn't want her mystery cake I'll have ice cream and cookies in reserve. And I can truthfully say they were just left from what I made for her Dad. On the other hand, sometimes her experiments turn out really good. So it will be a surprise tomorrow.

Jane met her and knows she has the biggest, warmest heart possible -- so we take beet cakes in stride, lol

Can you sneak them in to the garbage without his parents knowing?

And we had carols and other Christmas music playing - yeah apparently FIL doesn't like music playing in the house. Tough.

So now we're sitting in Harvey - thank god for Harvey - and the local rednecks are just firing guns for no apparent reason.
Good thing you can escape from it all in Harvey.

We've noticed that as my Dad has gotten older, he doesn't enjoy having music playing as background sound any more. We're not sure if he has difficulty hearing it, or if it's coming across to him as more of a "noise" than a melody, or what. He's OK with the TV on, turned to the news or Weather Channel or watching "Wheel of Fortune". I don't know if that's also the case with your FIL, but maybe that's something to think about.

As for the old mayonnaise - Gross! My parents also grew up during the Depression and Mom also would cut the yucky parts off of cheese and use the rest.
