Well after holiday party and silly innuendo goofiness we've all been cracking around the office he's been upgraded out of brotherly status lol. He still reminds me a lot of my brother but is in no way brotherly to me.

Love the new do, V. I'm not feeling great, tummy upset or sumpin. Probably from the cold, all that crap.

Actually, I may have figured out a work-around for the part of the cards that hasn't been going well. I just haven't sat down with the materials yet.

Yep.

It really is a rather interesting building. Because of the basketweave design, they were only able to put outside-viewing windows in certain areas. So the building has a huge skylight, and inside there's an atrium all the way up to the skylight so that the rooms that can't have an outside window have an inside one and get indirect natural light that way. The handles have heaters in them so that ice doesn't accumulate on them and fall off and break the skylight.

Also, because the actual basket it's modeled from has slightly tapered sides, each floor of the building is slightly larger than the floor below it.

I saw you guys setting records!

I'm feeling fair. I basically slept badly last night so didn't feel great today on top of the queasy tummy. DH brought Fresca home for me, he went into work for a few hours today. I got nothing done, but very happy the cards got mailed this morning.

Watching Sharks now. Taking it easy. Me, not them. lol

PH I'm shocked your cards aren't done already!

So late this afternoon I went to the next post office south of us to drop off the cards that were finished, because the last Saturday pickup there is at 5:30. As I was walking in, I met an older lady walking out. I guessed her to be in her early 80s; she didn't look quite as old as my mom.
Then when I was walking out, the lady was in her car, but finishing up a conversation with another lady who had driven up after I went in. Lady #2 looked to be pushing 70, I'd say - younger than Lady #1, and considerably older than I am.
As Lady #1 drove off, Lady #2 motioned for me to roll down my window... which seemed odd to me, but I didn't feel threatened, so I obliged.
And Lady #2 told me all about how Lady #1 is 92 years old, and she still drives and gets around well, but then again she was Dr. S's wife, and her son's a doctor too, but it's just amazing that Lady #1 is 92 and gets around so well, and that is just so inspiring to Lady #2, and Lady #2 hopes that she can be like Lady #1.
I'll never know why Lady #2 felt the need to tell me all that, but I just smiled and agreed and told her to have a good weekend.

YDS is working on a Christmas card for his girlfriend.

I kid you not, he's writing a sonnet inside. Or at least trying to get it all to fit, LOL.

And he's picked out this stamp set to use: Lawn Fawn - winter owl

Part of me is saying "awwwww, that's so sweet!" and part of me is saying "Goat help us."

I have to say that YDS was pretty darn adorkable about the whole process. He asked me some questions along the way about what size to cut the cardstock and the mats and the liner inside, and I suggested he use a branch stamp that I had so the owl wouldn't be "floating" and he agreed with that, and we discussed where to put the sentiment. I let him use my Prismacolor pencils to color the owl. He asked for suggestions for owl colors, so I told him "gray", and he chose which shades of gray to use. He picked out the cardstock colors himself (he used 3 layers - the card base, a mat, and the image panel). I had never tried pairing Cool Caribbean with Not Quite Navy but they look good together!

Of course, it would have taken him about an hour less time to complete the card if he wasn't texting her every few minutes, ROFL.

But the card turned out really cute. AND he even let me take a picture of it. I wasn't allowed to read the sonnet, but when he was showing me the completed card I did catch a glimpse of one line that was something like "you are a treasure". He said it was the most he'd written in cursive in "forever", LOL.

Spent most of the day downstairs in the craft room --
We did take a break for dinner and we all went to see Gravity in 3D.
Pretty intense.

Sharks got a win tonight. But they lost Hertl the No Longer a Teenage Mutant Ninja, last game, for "at least" a month. Opposing player took him out with a knee injury.

I think the opposing player should be out as long as Hertl is.

Christmas Card Craftastrophe 2013 is averted!
Continuation of cardmaking shall commence!

ETA: OK, the cardmaking shall resume after another batch of crack peanuts is finished. I need to get that done first.

Note to self: In the future, emboss, THEN measure and cut!

Well,
Would you bail out on a charity walk that YOU initiated and then scold the person who kept up with it for NOT supporting you in collecting donations and that's why you had to quit and then go back to your HS friends and have a midlife crisis all while flaking on every other event presented with by me? Then when you've had enough would you have a fit and unfriend me? Oh and then pop up FOUR years later wondering what happened and why I unfriended you and that you just wanted me to know you'd been thinking about me and the boys?

Well, the most recent problem is called "the cardmaker didn't think things through thoroughly".

There was another short-lived problem also called "the cardmaker didn't think things through thoroughly" but that was about a different matter.

A few of you Pondies' cards slipped through in the original version, but the rest of you will be getting the modified version - which looks basically the same as the original, but 1/2" shorter. LOL

Can't wait for spring.

You and your family sound like you're having a lovely adventure!

I'll have to go to Joann's today and get more Fimo.

BTW, it's been so cold lately, I've been having Three Cat Nights.

Love the cats' names!

The dachshund and boys sound like they're having fun together.
