Happy September! It's my favorite time off the year! I've been so busy today, I didn't get around to posting the new thread. Sorry!

I'll chat more soon. We're going to the hot air balloon show early in the morning so I have to get up in a few hours.

I finally have internet access!

My youngest son left the hospital last night. he is having a very hard time breathing and getting around. I am staying with him thru Monday then I am home to work.
He was in a severe car accident on aug 25th. He was t boned by a pickup. He was extricated by cutting the side of his car open. He was taken to the Mayo Hospital in Rochester. He had a concussion, 6 broken ribs, a broken clavicle and sternum. He is lucky to be alive! While in the hospital he had rib stabilization surgery on the four ribs that the surgeon could reach. Basically, he has metal plates to connect the ribs in the correct position. He is a bit confused. Of course, he and I are clashing. so please pray!

Joan - so sorry to hear about your son, but glad he is ok! Hope things go smoothly for both of you. You're both stressed so that makes things even more difficult! Take care of you too.

Thanks- I am only able to stay until tomorrow. I have missed a week of work and need to go back. He has a friend who can stay for a while. His friend is out of work for over a year. My son, wants him to have a safe place to say. So being here with him will be good for both.

Wow, summer is here today -- it is nearly 90 degrees which is about right for us, however, it will be cooling down again.

My heart goes out to the people facing Irma. How scary it must be after seeing what Texas got.

Chuckle for today

Cupcakes

A young man was visiting his brother and sister-in-law for Christmas dinner. As he arrived at their house he found his young nephew, Mikey, helping them bake some cupcakes.

After they were done, his sister-in-law allowed Mikey to put the icing on. When the boy had finished, he brought them to the table.

"The cupcakes look delicious, Mike." his uncle said. He took a bite and said, "Mikey these are so good."

As he finished cupcake and took another, he again complimented his little nephew. "The cupcakes look beautiful, Mikey," his uncle said. "How did you get the icing so neat?"

His nephew replied, "It was easy. I just licked them."

The uncle turned pale. He pointed to the plate of cupcakes. "You licked all of these?"

Mikey replied, "Well no. After a while my tongue got tired, and I got the dog to help."

Yes it could be our turn in Nova Scotia. Florida is going to get it as well as the Eastern seaboard. We won 't know until it happens. Catagory 4 - I can't even imagine! Most of the US will be in a state of emergency.

Joan - so sorry to hear about your son. Praying he heals quickly. I'm glad he will have someone with him. Your family is so caring.

Worrying about Irma as well. I really hope it surprises everyone and heads to the right and disbands in the Atlantic. So much devastation with hurricanes, flood waters, fires. Just awful.

I am worried about my brother and his family in FL. He is in the hospital having chemo therapy for colon cancer.

I am in constant thoughts about my son. Any positive thoughts you can send his way would help!

PRAY FOR THE USA - more problems ahead. My daughter is near West Palm Beach. Two more hurricanes behind this one.

Joan - I am so sorry. Prayers for that family for sure.

I've been praying for all in FL for days. I keep remembering more and more people I know that live there. A friend of ours from church 'had' a house in one of the Keys. He said he knows it's gone. However, he said he has a house here, was at a wonderful church picnic today and all is well. They were thinking of rebuilding anyway as it was a very tiny house (only one bedroom). He is worried about friends who make their living down there - even if they have escaped damage (which is doubtful) they won't have work. Many rely on tourists for their business.

Not sure if I ever said that Reynold has a house in Lehigh that is rented out. We understand that the Lehigh area was hit pretty hard with flooding from Irma. We are now waiting on the rental management company to let us know if there is any damage and it may take a few days. Am pretty sure the people living in the house evacuated.

My goodness Cat, that area was pretty hard hit. My daughter let me know all is well and they had a little damage with a hedge which is nothing in the big scheme of things. That major evacuation saved lives. My Mom use to have a place near Port Charlotte and I'm glad she is no longer there. Hope you don't have too bad of a damage report. I'm just glad it is over - I was a nervous wreck all weekend and awake at all hours of the night.

Caterina- hope the damage in the area is minimal.

My brother and his wife and my nephew's family are safe with very little damage!

Praying all is well in Lehigh. We have friends who own a place near Cudjoe Key. They have not heard anything yet. Everyone else I know if FL has had little, if any, damage. Such a relief. I know my cousin was up all night waiting to hear how her parents were doing in Hernando, FL.

Just spoke with my son. he sounds down. The drs told him he couldn't go back to work until after Oct 12th. he is getting bored. On a good front his bones appear to be healing. The neuro testing shows he is still slightly impaired. he has appt on Oct 12th with a team of drs at Mayo and then an appt in MPLS with his spine surgeon. he had back surgery when he was 15. The dr need to be sure his rods and cables are still intact!
He just can't seem to understand that he has been thru a bad car accident and major surgery. So it will take a bit to heal!

My brother and his families are safe in FL. Tomorrow he will be back in the hospital for a series of chemo therapies!

Joan - Maybe it is better you son doesn't realize how bad it was! It might keep his attitude toward healing! I can imagine he wants to get back to work.

Friends - I am asking for thoughts and prayers for Marie. She finally decided that she needs help in getting on with her life. She agreed to see a therapist. Her first appointment was tonight. She fought going, but she went. I am not sure she will continue to go. Please pray she will continue.

I'm not putting this on Facebook so please just keep it here. Love you ladies!

Joan, believing good will come through all of this for you, your son and family.

Joanne, am grateful that Marie is willing to see someone and trusting that the therapist will be able to connect well with her. Truly my heart goes out to both of you, it is not easy.

Gail, am so grateful that you are a part of our little group. You are so talented with your crafting as well as decorating your home.

No news as of yet on the house in Lehigh so guess we will hear some time from the management company and/or the insurance people.

Got a call from my gastro guy last night during a slight 'flare up'. Of course, he would like me to try to eat more solid food, however, he understands how difficult that is. He said he wish he could help me in some way but there truly is no cure for gastroparesis and any treatments are experimental. Such is life.

Alexander will be graduating from his medic training at Ft. Sam Houston next month. So want to be able to see him, however, the timing right now is not good. Grateful that his father, stepmother, younger sisters and perhaps his other grandmother will be going down for the ceremonies. I will definitely be there in spirit.

Caterina - I was thinking of you all day today. I'm so sorry the gastro issues are flaring up again. I can't even imagine how difficult it is. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers all the time.

Marie went to the appointment. When she came home she was still all upset, crying, mad at Bill. I have to say, she was very nice to me - it was kind of nice having her mad at Bill for once! This is all just her way of expressing the anxiety. It took me a LONG time to realize that and it still isn't easy, even knowing what it is. She said she didn't like the therapist and Bill said they could look for another one. She isn't sure she wants to go through all that unknown again (that is what is so terrifying to her). She DID say she would take anti-anxiety meds!!!!! So, if she will keep going and get some meds, this might help. I am still not getting my hopes up (my therapist even told me that!), but I am just continuing to pray she will continue to go.

Friends who have a place in the Keys are still waiting to hear any news. They are certain their place is gone, but they would like to know what else will need to be done for clean up and such. They also have friends who live down there full-time so they want to know how they are managing.

I'm consumed with getting toys/clothes ready for the semi-annual consignment sale. It takes so much time cleaning everything, typing and printing tags and pinning everything together. We made over $600 in April so it's definitely worth all the time and work. Or maybe I should just buy less stuff for my ONE child

Sweetie, you waited so long to have your baby so enjoy spoiling him. Time flies by so quickly.... before you know it, Preston will be all grown up.

Btw, I would buy lots of stuff when Athena was born and throughout her young life. And I, too, would take things to the consignment store. You did great in April!

Hope it was still a good day honouring a life. So much going on every day. A person can hardly explain to others what is going on in our lives. Our lives touch so many others.

I hope it was still a nice BIRTHDAY.

Yesterday was the wake and today the funeral/ celebration of life for my co-worker and friend. I miss her. Her girls and husband seem to be okay today. I know the next few weeks are going to be hard!

I went out to breakfast this morning for my birthday. I talked DH into trying a new restaurant. He is not one to eat anywhere but fast food places. He said the food was okay. I thought mine was excellent. However, I ate toooooo much!

Drove to see a friend who is in Holy Spirit hospital with multiple health problems. He is on trach, has cancer, diabetes, gastroparesis, etc. My heart goes out out to him and his wife going through this very difficult road. Reynold and I took out to get some dinner and to give her a break from the long day.

Hope all you ladies will have a good week

Sad story and I'm sure your kindness was appreciated.

Yesterday we went to the community celebration of 200 years where my hubby grew up. They had a church service, tree planting by a local politician, cake cutting, displays and a slide presentation. The woman dressed up in period costume and we all had a picnic lunch with music in the background. It was very good for hubby to see old friends that he has not seen in awhile.
