Heart September Swapper of the Month - superjen

Congratulations to our September Swapper of the Month! Here is a little information about Jen.

I will know to look for this in the forum now!

- how you got started

When I got married, I decided to make my own invitations. I thought that not only would it be fun but I would save money. Of course, 10 years and thousands of dollars in craft supplies later, I am pretty sure I haven’t saved money but I’ve sure had a lot of fun.

- how long have you been doing this

10 years.

- do you have any other hobbies

Fabric and fiber arts are my first loves. I have been sewing since I was in the 7th grade but paper crafting gives me more instant gratification, which is important because I don’t have a lot of time to craft right now. Recently, I have started geocaching, which is a hobby I started to encourage my kids and myself to get outside and to be more active.

- a bit about your family & friends

Married 10 years, 7 year old daughter, 5 year old son. I have moved around a fair bit so I have friends all over but am so busy now it is often easier to communicate and “play” with my “imaginary” internet friends. I may not browse or chat much, but I enjoy the SCS community, especially the swappers, very much. By day, I am a software engineer, it’s not exciting or glamorous but has been a pretty good gig.

- favorite tools of the trade

I bought a Cuttlebug for $35 when they first came out. I was dubious about getting a new thing but I probably use that almost every time I papercraft.

- something we might not know

I studied mathematics in college and graduate school and do not consider myself to be artistic in the least. But when I retire, I would like to get an MFA, just for the challenge!

- favorite swapping experience

How can I pick just one? I have received so many beautiful pieces of art! I appreciate that virtual strangers are willing to send their babies on to me. But rest assured they are in a good home! I especially enjoyed hosting the PAT swap, which I did once or twice. It was so much fun to look at everyone’s creations in real life. In addition to seeing the pieces that don’t get posted, often photos don’t do the art justice so it was nice to have a chance to see each and every one.

- anything else that you would like to share

If it weren't for swaps I would not make the time to create things (too busy). I love that they “make” me pull out my toys and play with them. I also like them as an excuse to try something new. Where I live there isn't much of a stamping community, the focus is on scrapbooking, so I can’t just sign up for a class to help me make that time.
Be sure to check out Jen's gallery and keep an eye out for her in the swap forums.
