Welcome to Round 10 of the Secret Sister Card Kit Swap!

1. 2-3 stamped images---please use Copic-friendly ink and leave room for cropping.

2. Two 6"x6" pieces of DP

Just checking in.

Thanks Tracie for hosting the next round. I'll complete the questionnaire later....

Linda Palmer 12-21-2012 12:07 PM

Thank you very much for hosting Tracie. You did a great job dividing the names.

I have a roast on. I figured tonight we can have potatoes, meat and carrots and tomorrow I would make it into a great big soup pot full of veggies tomatoes and the left over roast and something simple on hand for Scott and Debra when they get in tomorrow afternoon. Scott's three kids will show up with their kids and it will be easy to feed them all.

Everything is finished except for 2 pecan pies, one lemon pecan pie and MAYBE some bannana bread. I won't do those until morning of Christmas Eve. If you have never tried lemon pecan pie you should, it is delicious. I can relax now for the rest of the day and tomorrow.

Imke, you made me crave Mac n Cheese so I made Pioneer Woman's recipe. Denise said it was very good and it was delicious. Can you believe it called for dry mustard and an egg.

taclary 12-21-2012 01:31 PM

Good for Linda and Vickie for posting their questionnaires already. Still thinking on mine.

Linda - Lemon pecan pie?? Never heard of it. I love lemon and I love pecan so has to be good. I would love to have the recipe some time.

Got alot accomplished today. Still working on my mom's pillow but will definitely be done by Christmas eve.

Linda Palmer 12-21-2012 02:09 PM

A restaurant in Claremore, OK sells this pie and the recipe is on the placemats on the table.

6 whole eggs
1/3 stick oleo(do not use whipped)
2 1/4 Cups white sugar
3/4 cups Pecan halves or pieces
1 teaspoon Lemon extract
juice of 1/2 lemon

Mix ingredients in order given, but do not use a mixer or beat until flothy. Pour into an 8" unbaked pie shell. Put in preheated oven (350) and bake about 10 min. then cut oven temperature to 300(slow oven) and bake until crust is browned and pie is set. Too rapid cooking will cause pecans to scorch and crust to brown before center of pie has finished cooking. For variety try Orange Pecan Pie.-substitute juice of 1/2 fresh orange for the lemon juice and 1 tsp. of orange extract in lieu of lemon exrtract.

I've never tried the orange but the lemon is so good and my son's expect it or ask for it on Christmas. It takes a long time to cook, so don't panic if not set in an hour.

Susanne527 12-21-2012 03:12 PM

Here's my new and improved version of the Secret Sister Card Kit Swap Round 10 questionnaire. I'm sure as I start reading some of your answers, I'll think of more things to add. And hoping everyone will keep those "room questions" coming, as they always add a little extra input to help decide just the "right thing" to send to you!

Cardmaking Likes:
1. Coordinated papers and embellishments (like from the same line/same company)
2. dies and embossing folders (now that I have a Vagabond, I’m lovin’ all the new dies out there!)
3. I use dimensionals on almost every card I make, and can’t keep enough foam dots/squares, etc in my craft cupboard!
4. hemp twine and twill tape in natural, browns, navies, greens. Baker’s twine in any colors. And I actually LIKE to use fibers on some of my cards!

Cardmaking Dislikes:
I am pretty easy to please, and there is not a whole lot I dislike.

Birthdate: October 4

What is your favorite color? blues, greens, purples…but I use every color when I make cards. There are some color combos that I love for card making, like red/white/black, or red and tan, or turquoise and black, in addition to blues, greens and purples. I do use dark brown a lot for a mat/background color, too. Oh, I guess I just like all colors J

Favorite Designer of Patterned Paper (i.e. Bo Bunny)? My Mind’s Eye is one of my favorites. Echo Park, Kaisercraft, BoBunny are good ones, too. I like petite patterns over larger, bold ones, and two sided patterned papers are a bonus. I use Simple Stories and Echo Park papers a lot when I scrapbook.

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try? Ladies, please do not send me any stamps. I would much prefer to receive some of your favorite stamped images. Please don't think me ungrateful for your generosity, but I have more stamps that have not yet seen ink, and would like the variety you'd be able to send with 2 or 3 stamped images. That said, I do like PTI and have almost none of their stamps or images. I like most of the Flourishes images. I prefer images of flowers or nature in general. I’ve seen some pretty nature scene/tree stamps from Memory Box Stamps. And Northwoods makes scenery/nature/floral stamps that are the kinds of images I like to use. I’m not really into cutesie images, though I like the funny “old lady” images from AI. I do like cool, different sentiments and humorous things. I would love to receive images from companies you design for, or from your favorite stamp company! I don't send Easter or Halloween cards, though. I send lots of general/ thinking of you/ praying for you/friendship kind of cards, and birthday and anniversary cards.

Is there a small stamp company that people are not aware of that you would like to receive from? I don’t really know a whole lot of companies like a lot of you more saavy crafters do. But I really am pretty easy to please, and would love some exposure to new/small companies!

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat? Simply Caramel bars by Milky Way. (thanks to Linda Palmer! :)) Kathy got me hooked on Lindt Dark Chocolate with a touch of sea salt, too! :D

Coffee or Tea? Coffee! My sister bought me a Keurig brewer a couple years ago, and I don’t know how I lived without it!!

Hobbies? Besides card making? Scrapbooking, reading, hanging out with the grandson, traveling (when the budget allows).

What challenge/goal would you like to meet this year? I’m like Imke, I’d really like to use up some of the papers and cardstock I’ve accrued over the years and ink up some of those stamps that have yet to see ink. I also want to get back into playing the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge every week. I used to play it years ago, and when Heather encouraged us to try the Sketch Challenge awhile back, I realized how much I missed it!

taclary 12-23-2012 10:08 AM

Cardmaking Likes:
1. Things that match (Cardstock, bling, etc.)
2. Stamped Images
3. Flowers/Butterflies/Nature

Cardmaking Dislikes:
1. Brads
2. Stickers
3. Can't think of anything else because I love it all.

Birthdate: May 23

What is your favorite color? Right now Aqua blue

Favorite Designer of Patterned Paper (i.e. Bo Bunny)? I seem to always go to My Minds Eye. Love their 6 x 6 pads.

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try? I would like to try more Flourishes, Verve, Whimsy. Okay I love them all.

Is there a small stamp company that people are not aware of that you would like to receive from? I love Northwoods Rubber Stamps but do not have many of their stamps.

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat? Licorice (Red or black), Dk Chocolate with mint, anything sweet - have a terrible sweet tooth.

Coffee or Tea? Drink both. My favorite tea is Good Earth

Hobbies? Crocheting, Quilting, anything to keep my hands busy.

What challenge/goal would you like to meet this year? Lose 10 pounds, oh I guess for cardmaking it would be to try more with watercolor.

Any special info your Sis should know? I think by now we all know each other pretty well. No new info here. Okay - maybe I can retire in 1 year. That would be fun. I could do so much more.

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try?
On my 2013 list this year is Verve and MFT (especially some MFT dies). I love Penny Black too. As for types of images, I seem to have an addiction to rain/umbrella themed stamps and sentiments and I want more cupcake/cake images to color.

Any special info your Sis should know?
Not that I can think of!

germanstampler 12-26-2012 12:43 AM

Heather- How Claire liked christmas this year ? She is certainly too young to enjoy it, but iīm sure next year the fun begins :-)

Susanne527 12-26-2012 06:12 AM

Ahhh...Christmas is over -now I have to plan K's 22nd B-day (1/1/13) and I promised her vegetarian lasagna--I also need to really organize and take a supply inventory on all my baking things--I had to clear my kitchen counters last night--and just pushed everything in the cabinet! The clutter was driving me bonkers and it was sure nice to wake up to a clean kitchen this morning! (Now it's pay back time--need to organize!)

Anyone have any personal goals planned for 2013?

Linda Palmer 12-26-2012 09:47 AM

Good Afternoon Everyone. We had a great day yesterday even tho some of the family left earlier than planned due to the storm that came in Christmas Eve.

I am ready to get Lena's image colored and then Imke's.

I've told all of you how I dislike most of the TV shows Glenn watches. Worst of his favorites Judge Judy. My craft room is our old dining room so it is right off the living room and the TV he watches all day and night. He got me wireless earphones so I can watch TV on my computer, netflicks or listen to music and not hear the TV. I have an awesome Bose radio that I hardly ever listened to because of the TV but now I can listen to it all day. I am so happy to lock out that damn TV.

I also can't wait for New Years so life can get back to normal. Susanne my Dad's birthday was on Jan. 1.

Imke, I loved the photos of your town. It is so beautiful.
rthday was on New Years day.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 02:42 AM.
