Default *NOW OPEN* CHALLENGE - SINGLE LAYER CARD SWAP DUE 3-15-10

It's been almost a month since I started a new swap (gasp!), and since my fifth swap went postal today, here I go again. This will hopefully be fun and a little different challenge for you. The challenge will be to make a single layer card, but make it appear to have dimension. This means take a card base and use some sort of technique to give dimension - this can include, masking, embossing - heat or dry, coloring, glitter, flower soft or other embellishments, etc. Since you will only be using a single layer, it is imparative that you follow the restrictions on what type of paper you use.

GREAT thing about this swap, THE DUE DATE - March 15, 2010!! So, no need to worry about these until after the holidays, woo hoo!!

NVR on stamps or embellishments, but you MUST use quality cardstock, such as SU, Bazzill, TAC, PTI, etc. (no construction or flimsy paper) and at least 1embellishment though more would be great. If you are not sure if your paper is of good quality, please PM me or post to the thread and ask. Make your work something that you would be proud to give a close friend or family member. In the past, I have been lenient on what has been rec'd, from now on if you send cards with non-quality paper, or sloppy cuts, etc., you will be receiving your own back. Sorry to be harsh, but it is not fair to those who put lots of time, effort and quality products into making their cards to have to receive substandard work. Please sign your creations - it's nice to know who to thank for their wonderful work. Again, please do your best work. Make sure the cards you send in are ones you would be thrilled to receive back.

This is going to be a 5 + 1 swap - send 6 cards, get 5 back and 1 is for me. I'm hoping nobody will get their own back, so make an extra for yourself. Would love to have you take more than one spot, but if you do, please use a different design and different stamps for each spot.

I would prefer 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 size however, if they are a different size, please include envies. Otherwise envies not necessary. Fancy folds, different techniques, etc. are always welcome. Please try to be on time, I will try and swap out within 1 week of due date. I realize things happen, so if you are going to be late, just PM me and I am more than willing to work with you.

Recipes are not necessary, but if you include, please do so on a separate piece of paper and include all your info. in case someone would like to ask you questions about your card.

Mailing Instructions: Please place cards in a zip lock bag for waterproof purposes. Write the name of the swap, your SCS name and your real name on front of bag or on a piece of paper and place in bag.

Swap return: Please include self-addressed stamped envelope. The amount of postage on your SASE should be the same amount used to mail to hostess. Please include 2 additional stamps to insure enough postage to return swaps. Additional postage will be returned if not used. PLEASE SEND ONLY POSTAGE STAMPS, NO DATED STAMPS OR METERED MAIL.

Please PM me for my address when you're ready to send.

If I forgot something, please met me know! Looking forward to this, thanks in advance for joining!!

hi me to please

question, although it's one layer, if we wanted to do the card front ENTIRELY on a seperate piece and attach it could that be acceptable? I ask because I'll probably end up doing a cuttlebug plate and I can only put the paper in short ways and that's likely to not work with a 5.5x4.25 card... you know?

Thanks

That's fine, although there is a way to use an Embossing folder on just half the card.

WELCOME to the swap!!

Roxanne,

I've decided you are trying to join the ranks of Audrey, Taryn, B&D, making me sign up for swaps, twisting my arms, etc.

Gracie - we seem to be following each other around! LOL

I had trouble getting on a couple of minutes ago. Tried several different ways. I know Jeanette said she has had this problem too from time to time. Anyone else had this problem?

I tried getting on by going through all the swaps I am in and that didn't work. Then I tried going in through cards I had put under my favorites and that didn't work either. Really strange, unless everyone in the free world was trying to get on at the same time. Who knows!

Mine has been okay. Would be better if my leg was back to normal and I could get back to work. So it goes. I have, however, had a good time talking to everyone on various swaps!

Haven't been on much since early in the day ladies, but I can always tell when SCS is having problems b/c I stop getting a gazillion e-mails! I didn't get many today, so there must have been issues. I'm off to bed! Niters
