Happy New Year!!!! So hard to believe it is already 2022!!!
I'm in....starting to some cards today actually. I'm going to make 2 graduation cards (since the ages are 15-25 that they support it would be high school grads) and then 8 Valentine's Day cards. I will get them sent out Monday since I have to go to the post office anyway and that way the Valentine's Day cards will get there on time :) Have a fantastic day everyone!!!! |
I'll make cards! :)
|
I'm in.... I have a variety from my stash I can pull to send, and will make some graduation cards as well.

MIA
I've been MIA for a few months. It was discovered that my d-i-l has a rare form of cancer. They have two girls ages 12 & 10. Also have a new grandson from one of my other sons. Between going out of state to help my son take care of his girls and my d-i-l, and taking care of my other grandson who lives near us when they needed a break I just haven't the time or the energy to make cards. I'm coming up with a bit of a break now, so maybe I'll be able to get a few cards out to this group. My stash is down to almost nothing so I can't even draw from that. Bless you all who continue to send cards to all these worthy causes.

I mailed 44 cards today. Most were birthday and graduation, but I had a few each of Valentine’s, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
|
I'm in! I'll send some birthday cards and will update when they're postal :-)

I checked with Thru Project and they said that in terms of colors for graduation cards, it does not matter, as their youth are all over San Antonio.
I googled some of the 114 high schools in the San Antonio area: Brackenridge - purple and gold Brandeis - navy and orange Brennan - black, white and gold Central Catholic - navy and white Clark High - black, silver, white Harlan High - black, silver, light blue Highlands - maroon and white Johnson High - Columbia (a brighter blue), navy and silver MacArthur - royal blue and white Marshall - maroon and white Ronald Reagan High - dark green and grey San Antonio Christian - maroon, taupe, black Southwest High - dark green and white Taft - maroon and blue Veterans Memorial - red, white and blue Warren High - purple and silver Hope that helps. Hello, first timer here to this challenge. Do we leave the inside of the card blank because people from the selected organization will be filling out the cards to give away to the target group (example, the staff and volunteers at THRU Project will fill out the cards before handing them out to the youth) or are we including our own note inside and signing our name? Thanks!

Valentine's and graduation cards being mailed tomorrow.
|
Welcome and thank you for your contribution!
It varies depending on the charity/mission. For the Thru project, yes, I would leave the inside blank (if you want to stamp a coordinating sentiment that would be fine) and not sign it. There are some missions coming up in future months where I believe the charity will be asking for a message and signature (if I recall properly). Quote:

Message from THRU Project
Hi everyone! This message just came from our January cause:
Hello! My name is Alexis Lara I am the Lead Program Coordinator for THRU Project. We have received quite a few cards from you all in the past month, and we are so grateful! We send out cards to our youth regularly for birthdays and holidays. However, we have received so many that we don't have the capacity to take in more. We have more than enough thanks to you all! I wanted to reach out to thank you all and let you know we have received plenty! Thanks, Alexis Lara Lead Program Coordinator THRU Project (210)255-3430 - Cell [email protected] www.THRUproject.org “Fostering Hope after Foster Care" Choose THRU Project at Smile.Amazon.com when you shop to benefit former foster youth!' |
Suggestions on where to send?
THAT IS AWESOME!!! WAY TO GO SCS!!!
I have my box ready to go - lots of graduation, some birthday and thank yous. Now I just need a new place to send them to. =) I checked the continuing causes, but didn't see anything about graduation. Are there any other groups that could use these? Thanks! Quote:

Well that is an awesome problem to have! I had started a couple of graduation cards but maybe I'll hold off on finishing mine.
I will take a look through the upcoming charities to see if any of them mention graduation cards. Even if they don't specifically say they want graduation cards, I can check with charities if they seem like they would serve the appropriate age group. They might not have thought about needing graduation cards. I also was looking at some other charities for next year and there is one which might be able to use graduation cards, but I need to reach out and check with them. |
Hmmm...Graduation cards could be sent to groups that ask for any type of cards....I'm sure the Embrace could use some and they are an upcoming group - even though they are a pregnancy center they could use them for their clients who graduate from their programs or even for their volunteers. That is just one off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others in the upcoming groups as well as the ongoing causes.

You know how they say things happen...or DON'T....for a reason? LOL I went to the post office yesterday to mail 2 dozen cards to the THRU Project but forgot to bring the address. I happened to check in just now and see that they've received an abundance...so I'll hang onto them (a dozen each birthday and congratulations) and wait for the next CFAC opportunity. :-)
|
I will be posting the February mission, as well as special request mission soon. Both causes are requesting birthday cards (although one is specifically for kids). February's main mission probably would use/accept the encouragement cards but there are a couple of causes in the on-going missions thread that want encouragement cards.
