ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED: Operation Gratitude

DESCRIPTION: Operation Gratitude is a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to providing grateful Americans across our country with opportunities for hands-on volunteerism in support of military, veterans, and first responders. In March of 2003, Operation Gratitude sent its first four care packages to deployed service members in Iraq. Since its inception, the organization has encouraged millions of Americans to express their gratitude through hands-on volunteerism, in turn lifting the spirits of more than 3.3 million deployed troops, recruit graduates, veterans, military families, first responders, and healthcare heroes. The volunteers of Operation Gratitude are a generous and spirited grassroots network of Americans joined in a common cause to say "Thank You" to all who serve our great nation. Every care package we send not only includes handwritten letters from grateful Americans, but also blank greeting cards for our service members' own personal use.

TYPE OF CARDS REQUESTED: They need two different types of cards for general use. The first is blank but beautiful. These cards have no writing on them and can be used for any occasion by our troops.

The second is a sentiment card that includes a message on the front that the service member can use to convey his or her feelings to loved ones including birthday, anniversary, Christmas (Christmas cards received after Oct 30 are held for next year), Thinking of You, Missing You, I Love You, or a simple Hello. Or have some fun and find some humorous stamps and sentiments to put on your cards.

They would appreciate the majority of cards to be more generic so they can be used at any time of the year. They do not use sympathy or thank you.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please include light colored/white envelopes.

SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS: No glitter! Also, please avoid using pearls or rhinestones as they almost always break off or damage the envelope during transit. Please avoid religious icons and scripture quotes on your card.
