May 2011

Hosted by: Mothermark
Referred by: Tigerpaws11 (Michelle)
Organization Featured: Landstuhl Regional Medical Center
Cause: Cards of encouragement for injured servicemen and women as well as thank you cards for caregivers/medical personnel.
Special Requirements: Absolutely no loose glitter or anything that "came from nature" like real twigs or leaves. Please avoid military equipment, as that may trigger a bad memory of an incident involving that piece of equipment and I'm sure that's not the effect we're going for. Thank you for your service and sacrifice or get well cards are preferred but a few birthday cards sprinkled in would work too. From Michelle's personal experience she suggests using colors other than red/white/blue and olive green - they get enough of that and would like to see something different for a change, especially olive green and military symbols.

Not sure how this usually works, but I liked to see the next month's challenge and request on top of the current one. When I was done early with this month, or when I wanted to work on something different because was stumped with the other cause, it was nice to see the next month's cause up so I could get ahead on that. So throwing this as a suggestion, Cindy- if you have the causes all picked out, maybe you could post all the current info for the current month but a peek into the next as well? Just which kind of cards and for whom to make and the restrictions? Thanks so much for the opportunity to do acts of good. I'm actually ahead in March, already have 4 made!

Hello....thanks for the suggestion. Actually I have been posting a sneak peak in this thread but I am a little behind the 8 ball right now. I work full time and this is a tough time of year for me. I need to quit my full time job, don't I wish!!! The beginning of the year is difficult for me because I do bookkeeping and its all about getting the information pulled together for income taxes, kwim? Ha! I will try to do better to keep ahead of the game.

In addition, sometimes its difficult because the information is not always available or we are waiting to get permission to post addresses, etc.

I know you guys like to work ahead and that is why I originally built this thread so its up to me to stay on top of it a little better. As far as your suggestion to post all of the information for the current month in this thread, since I am starting a new thread each month that can also be used for chatting about the current month's mission, I think it would be redundant to post all of the information here. Just more time consuming to put it both places, kwim?

I will work organizing the up coming months over the weekend and try to get something posted here so you all can work ahead! I appreciate all that you do and I sure want to make it as easy as possible for you all!

Thanks! So much, for making this a great success for much deserving causes!

Argh, I'm so sorry I didn't make much sense. Was heavily drugged on meds. You seem to have made out what I was trying to say, lol.
Thanks a lot for the hard work you do. Count on me if you need a bit of help!

do we have a "cause" for September?

RTJmom 09-02-2011 01:21 PM

I was also wondering if there is a "cause" for September. I have some extra cards that I need to find homes for!! Usually I send the majority of my cards for Operation Write Home---but some of the cards I want to donate have glitter on them...which is a no-no for OWH.

Mothermark 09-05-2011 03:52 AM

So sorry guys! Month end came up so fast for me! I have been concentrating on month end and work and forgot about month end at SCS! Will get something posted ASAP. I do have a great cause for you!!

StampinCatMom 09-16-2011 11:54 AM

:( Nothing so far. It seems such a shame to let this get away and I've been wracking my brain to find a local cause here, but the only thing I have is the hospice I volunteer for and they are not non-profit, so I wouldn't feel right putting them in as a "cause."
