TYPE OF CARDS:
miss you, thinking of you, birthday, congratulations, thank you, see you soon, get well, encouragement, Christian, and cards without an occasion listed on front. Stamp some on the inside for youth who don’t quite know what to say, leave some blank for those kids who are more expressive. We’d love a variety! please include envelopes.

SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS:
if we can make the humble request to not include anything that may be considered “sharp” that would be awesome...such as metal, straight pins, or staples.

GUIDELINES:
Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, lets help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.

What a great cause! I should be able to get some cards out this month after a busy summer.

When I tried to create my shipping label, USPS says this is an invalid address and I can't proceed. I think it might be the plus 4 digits of the zip code? I just changed that and it says it's a non-deliverable address.

bensarmom 08-02-2018 02:55 PM

Terry,
Try adding Executive Center Drive and see if it works.

Hi Ladies,
I want to thank all of you who have undertaken making cards for South Carolina Juvenile Justice System. Here is an email I got from Jennifer, the director.

It has been amazing!!! We’re receiving cards from all over! It’s such a blessing and SO EXCITING! We all gather to see where each package is from! It’s so cool to get mail from across the country and to open creative surprises from card makers across the nation. Know that we are so incredibly thankful (and so very excited). We turn the cards “loose” and send them out to the kids and staff the same day we receive them. IT’S AWESOME!!

One bazillion thank yous!!

dsp245 08-15-2018 11:00 AM

I haven't participated for a while, but had quite a few cards on hand. I sent 45 out today. Hopefully I'll get some crafting time soon so I can replenish my box.

I have been using the flat rate boxes that look like they can fit a VCR tape in them. With envelopes, I can comfortably fit between 20-25 in the box. It is a little tricky sometimes to put the contents in, remove the adhesive strip, and then refold and close the box.

va.sunshine 09-01-2018 02:14 AM

thank you for the tip on the smaller flat rate box. I have always used flat rate envies too.

The really cool part is getting the shipping boxes/envelopes delivered to your home for free by the Postal Service.
I use the boxes most of the time as well - they do 24 cards nicely!
