Sketch Challenge 63
2 Attachment(s)
I am thrilled to be guest hostess again this week. Thanks Rox! Andrea - as always - we are thinking of you and your family!

Master Thread

If you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please feel free to share them here.

Reminder: When you upload, please put
SC63 in the keyword section and then post a link to your card, not your gallery here in this thread. It will be easier for people to find your creation and leave comments (and don't we all love comments???)

is a link to explain how to upload your cards to the gallery.

If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

Square Cards are fun - here is a new spin on those fun shaped cards.... a 5x5 square card with a slit punch tab at the top of the card.

Here is the cards which inspired the sketch:

And here is one done by Michelle Wooderson...........

I hope you enjoy my sketch selection.....This idea came to me in my deep thoughts one day. I was trying to figure out how to put a new spin on square cards. Something new and different! This is what I came up with. My friends call it the "Bethie fold".....

...I look forward to seeing all your creations....

And by all means - bonus points for a hat trick: The TLC (Faux embossing), the color challenge (Chocolate Chip, Bashful blue and Certainly celery) and the sketch!

luvsstampinup 03-14-2006 08:33 PM

Oh wow, Beth, I've never done this type before...I will work on it though...this may take me awhile to figure out. Thanks so much for doing the challenge this week.

pammyrn 03-14-2006 08:36 PM

wow, this looks like an awsome challange, thanks Beth.

GarnetJ 03-14-2006 08:39 PM

Hmmmmm? Wondering how to do a smooth slit punch without the punch. Will think on that and hopefully try tomorrow.

nancy littrell 03-14-2006 08:51 PM

Beth, I love your new SC. I am stamping, but have not been able to upload....our PC crashed last week and we are replacing. In the meantime, I am using our laptop, but it is not hooked up to our scanner and I can not upload :-( I have last weeks SC, 2 CC's from last wk and 1 CC from this week I am anxious to share. I am learning patience.......darn. Thanks again for your fun SC's. Computer-less, Nancy

pammyrn 03-14-2006 09:37 PM

If you are like me and have a Fiskars shape cutter system sitting in your rarely used pile, you could do a partial cut of a circular shape in the place you would like the slit.

Gladd-lyStamping 03-14-2006 11:39 PM

Oh, I can't wait to play today/tomorrow! (Meaning, Wednesday!).

Thanks for the great challenge - looks like so much fun!!!!! :)

querida 03-14-2006 11:40 PM

Cool, I can sleep on it, thanks!

WaterPixie 03-14-2006 11:49 PM

Oooo! Super cute sketch!!! Can't wait to make one!

sherristampsalot 03-15-2006 12:30 AM

Verrrrrrrry interesting! Hope to try one this week!

justampin 03-15-2006 03:37 AM

One of my friends borrowed my punch ages ago. It's almost 7 am here now. I'm thinking if she isn't up I should wake her up.

DawnL 03-15-2006 04:00 AM

I am so glad the site was slow last night when I 'tried' to check to see if the challenge was posted early!! I wouldn't have been able to sleep!!!
Thanks for taking the challenge this week Beth!! I looks so cool!!

Lisa Loiselle 03-15-2006 04:13 AM

WOW! What a great idea! I HOPE I have time to play after work!

Wendy G 03-15-2006 04:20 AM

Julia S 03-15-2006 04:20 AM

Awesome sketch idea and fabulous cards Beth! Love this challenge. Can't wait to play...I hope I can squeeze in a quick card before I go!:0

Julia S 03-15-2006 04:25 AM

Hi-jack! Ways to Use it Notice
Hope you don't mind me hi-jacking your thread Beth!:) I just wanted you challenge addicts to know that justampin will be posting the Ways to Use it Challenge tomorrow for me. I had been going to post the anniversary challenge this morning but realized that next week is actually a year of the ways to use it challenge....I'm crazy busy here as well as the kids are off for March Break.

jsbrooketrout 03-15-2006 05:43 AM

Here's mine. I am not too crazy about the layer behind the vanilla. On the picture it looks so different than IRL. Oh well....

dawnmercedes 03-15-2006 05:55 AM

Gorgeous!! Can't wait to get a chance to make some for myself!

Pink-fish 03-15-2006 06:03 AM

How fun! I managed to do some faux embossing also. I am loving the square cards. Here's mine:

Jerri Kay 03-15-2006 06:19 AM

Great challenge, can't wait to get started. Unfortunately I have errands this morning, but as soon as I return, I'm off to my stamping room. Thanks for a great challenge Beth, I've never done a square card before and am excited about this. I already have something in mind! Oh I hate being this excited and not being able to get to stamp for a couple more hours. Lord have mercy and grant me some patience!

lacyquilter 03-15-2006 06:22 AM

Wouldn't ya know! I was lurking last night, but then went to bed & she posts early! Thanks, Beth. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

lacyquilter 03-15-2006 06:26 AM

For those of you who don't have a slit punch, do you have a Coluzzle? Cut half of the smallest circle for your little tab.

cindy501 03-15-2006 07:01 AM

Very interesting sketch. I'm looking forward to trying it tonight or later this week depending on how my time goes. Thanks lacyquilter for mentioning about the Coluzzle to substitute for the slit punch. I was going to mention that. I love all the creations I have been seeing already for this challenge but must get to work now and will see you ladies later.

mellid 03-15-2006 07:05 AM

This is a great Challenge!!!!! thank you MP!

trudee 03-15-2006 07:06 AM

WOW, totally diggin this Beth!!!!!!!!!!!

star 03-15-2006 07:11 AM

Looks like fun!! And for once, I have the supplies (the punch!!) in order to make the card without fudging!! Hope I can play...

Gladd-lyStamping 03-15-2006 07:20 AM

Plain Jane
I did my best to incorporate all three challenges.

Beth, this was such a fun card sketch. I can't wait until later when I can play again without trying to incorporate all three challenges into one. :)

Here it is, pending as of 9:20 am:

Rox71 03-15-2006 07:21 AM

Just checking in to find it was here last night, Bethie pulled a early post and I didn't even check, the site was not working in my favor last night anyway. So I'll be back to post in a few!

reneejul1 03-15-2006 07:27 AM

WOOHOO - can hardly wait to try this one. I seen those cards and fell in love!

sun7shine 03-15-2006 07:57 AM

The "Here" link gives a page cannot be displayed mesage when clicked?

MaryR 03-15-2006 08:29 AM

What a great sketch and what beautiful samples! Here's mine: pending approval

mom2grace 03-15-2006 08:32 AM

Morning all! Beth, you sooo rock! Saw your card with the rick-rack last week and knew I had to try one. But, alas, it will have to wait, DD and I are off to Disneyland today (we have season passes). Maybe Mickey will give me an inspiration?
I've looked at all the posted cards, but the system is so slow I have given up commenting this am....but so far you girls are rising to the challenge with GREAT cards (to case, hee-hee)!!!!

bjacobs150 03-15-2006 08:39 AM

here is my first one....

Rox71 03-15-2006 08:46 AM

Here's mine and I used a small circle clip for the closing feature; it works very easy. Thanks for the challenge Beth!

Here's my card

LodiChick 03-15-2006 08:47 AM

This is a great SC!! I have a fancy folds class coming up and this may become one of our cards, perfect timing!! I did 2, the first with the Island Blossoms scrap kit and so there was very little stamping. It went together so fast it felt like I cheated so I did another, LOL.

Island Blossoms

God's Way Butterfly

rosowskimom 03-15-2006 08:47 AM

Here is mine:

I used some HPH to keep it closed at the top because I can't find my slit punch anywhere.

raduse 03-15-2006 08:48 AM

Ok, here's my hat trick; combined with the color and technique lovers challenges.

bjacobs150 03-15-2006 10:14 AM
