SC Bonus Book Challenge
1 Attachment(s)
The challenge is in honor of all our teacher friends here at SCS. They have one of the most difficult and yet most important jobs in the world - preparing our children for adulthood.
So in honor of there summer vacation that has just begun or about to begin we are making a card that resembles a book/journal!

You may use a layout of one of the examples or create your own but your card MUST HAVE THE TABS/HINGES in about the same position that you see on the layout but itís okay to flip the sketch just keep the hinges on what would be the spine of the book/journal.

Some suggestions:
You can use stamped hinges, word window tabs or rectangle shapes just to name a few. I know youíll have some great choices I canít even begin to think of!

Please use Keywords: SCBOOK07

Some examples:

Jerry Kay

eliak Two Three

Here's a thread from Allee's on creating your own hinges.

Wow, that looks like sooo much fun - I'm on it!

Clownmom 06-20-2007 02:57 AM

I had time this morning to do only one card, so I chose the bonus -- mainly because an idea immediately came to me. I had to flip the layout, but the 'hinges' are there -- and it does look like it could be a journal.

Here's my card ~ http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...87591?cat=8594

Thanks, Roxie, for letting all of us (parents AND grandparents) show teachers that we appreciate them!

SCBOOK07 Old Time Book card
Here's mine! I just made this recently trying to figure out what to do different with my new tab punch. It's hard to see but the tabs are black on an "faux leather" embossed chocolate spine. There is a page inside for writing on.
~Barbara :)

Not real happy with how it turned out, but, I got tired of adding to it. May try to do another later.

I was a little slow getting started, but I had fun with this bonus sketch. This one and the regular challenge for today were my first sketch challenges ... lots of fun!

Anyway, here's my card for this bonus challenge:

Thanks for the bonus Roxie! I used SC129 and my leftover supplies to make the bonus card.

etsdas 06-20-2007 12:57 PM

My idea kind of changed mid-stream. Thanks, Roxie, for a bonus today. For the second time today you made me get out a seldom used tool - this time the Coluzzle oval. I need practice for that.

lacyquilter 06-20-2007 06:53 PM

I finally got a chance to play. Here's mine: basic dream.

FubsyRuth 06-21-2007 04:13 AM

I don't have children so my card won't be going to a teacher - but I so wanted to take part in this bonus challenge - I LOVED making this card. What a fab idea.

Thanks so much for this bonus challenge Roxie! :D

Here's my Love Book card.

pammyrn 06-23-2007 07:23 AM

What a fun challange Roxie!!! I had no idea where I was going to go with this but I kinda like the way it turned out. Even the DH thinks it looks like a book. I used ribbon and purse trim to make the binding. Actualy it was a very easy card to put together.

Thank you for looking.

SCBOOK07-My Post
Wow, I had major computer problems this week and I'm trying to get the challenges done.

Hope you like it.

This was fun, I actually wanted to do this on a journal and you gave me "permission" to try the design on a card before I permanently decorate the journal.

susie nelson 06-24-2007 07:36 PM

Thanks for the challenge, Rox71.

Here's my contribution:

Thank you, teachers for everything you do. I were one at one time!
