Suggestion
I don't know if this has been suggested before or not, but I wondered if the sketch creator would mind posting the sizes she used when creating her sketch? I love the sketches and they are so much fun but my eyeballing method for deciding sizes just isn't working! LOL I know we are to be creative and they can be changed up, but it would be so wonderful to have sizes for people like me who love to follow the fun sketch presented!

I like that idea!

I would love some sizes to go on as well. Great suggestion Kathy!

I know they are supposed to print out to scale, but my printer doesn't print them to scale. Not sure if that's an issue with my printer or not, but having sizes won!d be wonderful and I'd probably participate more .the sketch challenge was one of the first challenges tried when I found SCS!

I save a copy of the sketch, then open it in PSE. Crop to as close to the outer perimeter of the sketch as possible. Then I resize to whatever size I want to make. Save a copy adding the size (5x7 or A2 or 6x6) in the file name. Then I turn on Grid View. I can then count across and up and down to get the measurements of my layers. It's surprisingly accurate enough and I got that idea from a person who creates sketches for her sketch blog.

A very useful idea, I agree. But we need to remember that when a sketch is created (drawn) by the artists's 'vision', there weren't any measurements taken. That's just opposed to the sketch that was literally 'copied' from an existing card at hand.
(Or ... maybe I could use another cuppa joe?) ;) |
Many years ago, the sketch challenge hostesses would share the sizing for each piece on their own card. It was decided to discontinue that practice. It put a burden on the volunteers to not only create a layout but to measure each part on their card. As cards are made in many different sizes, A2, A6, square, etc... it was impossible to give stampers measurements for each type of card.
Although your suggestion is appreciated, the best suggestion for any challenge is to be inspired and go for it! No challenge response is wrong. You can make creative adjustments to fit your image or idea. Thanks for participating in the Sketch Challenge! |
