I'm getting my resume finalized to send out for elementary and special ed teaching positions for next year. I'm mentioning that I'm proficient with major computer programs. Is it relevant to list blogspot? I want to convey that I'm not afraid of the computer and I'm willing to set things up like a class website.
It is a good skill to share, but are you going for ele ed/spec. ed? You should also be mentioning other skills you are proficient in, ie: any reading/math progams you might be familiar with, experiences that you have had in the classroom, etc. Good luck!!
Actually, blogging is becoming known and widely accepted as a legitimate form of work. I was recently hired by a stamp company and part of my job description is to be the company blogger.....amongst other things. So I would list it...doesn't hurt.
I agree. Definitely list it. I worked at a Venture Capital firm, (guys who invest in the up & coming things ALL the time). Blogging, Twittering, Social Networking, etc. is the WAY of the future! There is HUGE value in knowing these things, and not being afraid of them. Good for you!
As a retired Assistant Superintendent, I would say definitely yes! It would put you at the top of my list regardless of what you were teaching.
A few weeks ago there was an article in a local newspaper that a teacher had set up a Blog for his/her students to discuss the "topic of the day" on the historical impact of events on literature and art. He was a high school teacher, but I recall 15 years ago that elementary students were doing a type of blogging through a program that AT&T initiated. It had all the aspects of the current blogs.
Some classrooms today, elementary through high school, have their own Blogs. The more you know about how to communicate through technology, the more flexible you are as a teacher.
GOOD LUCK!
