Stamping Blog Watermark

Are there any how-to guides? I have been typing on each of my posted pictures, but I would like more of a 'stamp'. I am pretty technically able so I think I could do it myself with a little guidance.

I use gimp It is free, have still not found my way around it like I did my old programme i had, but not paying for photoshop. sorry guys. It is not hard to put the lines on with it, and only takes a minute, so that is good. Now to find my way around the #$% blog to add the things I want.
