Good afternoon (maybe night!). I was wondering how you guys got your blog's name out there. I just recently started mine and I really want to get it out there but I am unsure of how to.
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
Very nice! I think I'll bookmark it. I can't wait to see your tip for fixing when you color outside the line. Good luck to you! I think your blog will be a big success! And this is a good first step in the getting the name out there.

Also how do people tend to link your blog? Does it just take a while for it to gain a following then people add the link or do people ask to be linked? (Sorry dumb question)
Honestly, comment on other blogs! Try checking out the blog comment thread. Leaving comments on other blogs is great because not only does the blog owner see your name and then click on it to check out your blog, but other readers who comment will also see your name and click to check out your blog! I have come across some of my very favoite blogs this way... simply hopping from one link to the next! Also, my people also like to reciprocate... meaning if you comment on their blog, then they'll comment on yours! So either way, it's a good way to get your name/blog out there.
Since you have a blogspot blog, I recommend that you activate whatever feature allows people to comment without having a google account. i don't remember my google name and password so couldn't comment on your blog. That house mouse card is adorable!!

thanks for the advice so far! Do you find that blog candy increases viewship overall or just that day(s)?
It may drive hits up for the offer period/day. I've never offered blog candy myself, and unlikely to ever do so, as a few folks I've spoken to say that it doesn't actually increase readership.
And, sadly, there are some, not all, of course, and hopefully, not the majority, either, who just hit all the blog candies they can find, so they can turn around and sell 'em on Ebay if they "score"; they're not really interested in your blog at all.
I'd recommend spending some time blog hopping and leaving comments at others' blogs--which, according to research, is actually the most proven method of increasing your own blog's readership. ;)

I meant to answer this, too--and, it's not a dumb question.
Some folks will ask for reciprocal linking; others will simply add you to their blog roll, if they enjoy your content, but will usually remove it if you prefer not to be linked and contact them to let them know this.
HTH,

I agree about the blog candy. I think sometimes people will just read blogs offering blog candy and expect it if you do it very often. I don't very often on my blog, but I do once in a while. Last time, I asked what people would like to see on my blog (tutorials, etc) and one person said more blog candy. I thought that was so rude. You can tell that type of person is just in it for the free stuff and I highly doubt she read my blog normally anyway. I think blog hopping is a great way to get more viewers and posting in the gallery here. When I upload in the gallery, I include all the info along with my blog link in case anyone wants to check out my other things that I don't upload since I don't add everything I post on my blog to the gallery here.
Add a FeedBlitz button to your blog. This allows subscribers who want to continue visiting to sign up. They then get an email whenever you add a new entry.

Fantastic start to your site!!
Happy Stamping and Scrapping.

oh ditto that I love feedblitz. I know some people like to subscribe to a service that you log onto but this is sooo much easier. if someone doesn't have it I likely will not go back

here is the info on it. oh and just do the free one
forgot to mention another reason I like this is because if I get an email with a blog site that I really love and want to go back to that exact post I save the email and it will just pop me back there. I have done that with several peoples tutorials to try later
Most of my hits are from when people ask a question here on the boards and I have an example of some sort. I'll post a reply and direct people to my blog, you'd be surprised how many lurkers are out there that will go straight to your blog. I also post links that I find entertaining and will put in a new post to describe it, people then go back to my blog to check what new links I've added.
I think it takes time to build up readership. But here are my suggestions (most are repeats):
1) Put it in your sig line
2) Visit others' blogs and leave comments
3) If you find a blog you really like - leave them a comment and ask if you can link to their blog from yours. Many will do a link back.
4) When you see a post on here that you have a sample on your blog of...post a link to it.
5) Join a SBS sisterhood
6) When you post a tutorial of note (or if you decide to do blog candy) you can send an email to the owner of stampinwhenican and she generally will post it on her blog. I get lots of hits that way. If you want to see her site...I have it listed on MY blog. ;-)
I think it just takes a LONG time to get your blog up and running. There is no overnight thing you can do.
But all of the above are awesome ways to get people to know you have a blog and over time, it will build up your readership. Probably the best for me has been to link my blog on all uploads and put the link in my signature line.
I also like to get out there and look at others blogs--- I LOVE encouraging and how can I expect people to encourage me if I didn't ever do it myself!?
I try to be very good about that...and now I am going to go check out your blog!
I would also recommend adding a link to your blog when you post in the gallery here, especially if you have a tutorial or special directions. I get lots of hits from that.
