Default POLL - paid to blog?

I was reading an article about companies that pay average people to blog about products.

With so many new SCS bloggers, I was just wondering:

1. Do you blog about products because you are a consultant/demo/angel for them?

2. Are you on a Design Team and get compensated for blogging about their products (for example: with payment or free products or kits every month).

3. Are you a freelance designer and get compensated when your art is published and that is why you blog about it?

4. Are you on a pay per post arrangement or contract with anyone and get compensated each time you post (either on blogs or message boards) about a product?

5. Are you under contract/agreement in any way to blog for compensation for a product or company? (specify details)

6. Other (please specify)

7. All of the above

I just do it. But, if there are any stamp companies out there who want to pay me to blog - feel free to contact me! LOL!

I am on a design team and blog, but don't get compensated for it. I am compensated for the cards I send though. I just blog about whatever floats my boat that day... which may be what I bought at the LSS that day or something I made. LOL No ulterior motives, just enabling those ribbon lovers out there.

No, I am not paid in anyway. (dang it)

I wish I could be paid to blog...but I doubt they'd want me to post stuff about my animals and farm life!

My blog is my way of sharing with my friends and family.

I had a question.

On someone's blog (don't remember whos) but they had about 4 ads for cigarettes. Now, my question is, do those advertisers pay the blogger to post those ads? If not, how did they get there? Why would you want those ads on your site?

I saw those same ads, but can't remember where. It really clashed with the blog as I recall!

I think when you sign up for "free" sites, that's the hidden charge, lol. You are stuck with ad content that you have no choice over.

That is curious, what if the blog was about breast cancer survivors or something? that is not an ad I would want on my blog. I wish someone would pay me to blog too -- but if it's 2 cents or whatever a post, it would take a long time to make any money worth talking about.

I just saw the ads also but it was one someone's blog that was on typepad. Typepad isn't free after the first 30 days.

Not all typepad blogs have advertisements on them though.

I did see an ad on (I think it was Julie's) a blog the otherday. The ad was called
"Get paid to Blog" .
I glanced at the site and some of the companies were paying 5 bucks to promote their product. I didn't see anything for scrapping and stamping, but I didn't look that hard either.

I just recently started a blog so it's nothing to write home about (blog home about???) but am also an SU demo so probably that's what prompted me to do a blog, otherwise I doubt that I would bother. I do know people who have blogs and are not selling anything, just have the bits and pieces of stuff they want to share with friends. For example, one friend from work has a blog and on it she shared info about a cruise they took....today's menu, etc. I think it was more of a diary for her to remember the event.

Pretty sure I wouldn't be blogging if not for sharing stamping stuff, nobody would care to read my menu (e.g. last night...frozen pizza, but I did bake it!) Jan

No pay for blogging here. Not even sure I would want the restrictions that would come with being paid for blogging. I like to do my own thing.

I think it was Amy R that had the cigarette ads a long time ago...she didn't know it until someone told her.

Many folks do not get paid for blogging per se, but are selected for design teams in part because of their blogs. While posting on a blog may not be required, it is sort of expected.

Others have clear agreements with companies that require posts.

I'm open to any and all offers as I get NOTHING for blogging!!

Do design team members get compensated with product rather than getting paid money for their blogging? I would consider free stamps compensation...wouldn't you?

I don't think I would do this on my craft blog because people are coming there to see my creations not hear me ramble about stuff they don't care about.

Here is a link to the first post I made for them:

nope - I don't!

I wish - but I agree with Jeanne - I know I wouldn't want the restrictions that go with that. I try to be REALLY honest about what I like and don't like because if anyone cares what I think - I don't want to promote something I don't use myself.

I do design team stuff, but blogging is not required.

Well - in my experience you are given stamps to create samples. You can show them anywhere you like - in their galleries, blogs, websites, or the store may want them back to show at their website or store. That would all depend on the company.

I've never been given stuff specifically to blog with it.

I am on two design teams...I'm given stamps in exchange for creating samples, which are to be posted online, not necessarily on a blog, but since I have a blog, that's where they go.

And I do have a tip jar. I didn't start out with one, but since my readers asked me to put it there so they could contribute to the upkeep of my blog, I put it there. Since I had to upgrade to a higher level of Typepad to do that, it made me nervous, but I have gotten enough from the jar pretty much to pay for the price of my blog every month, sometimes more. And that is all it is there for. I certainly am not flying to Rio any time soon on my tip jar earnings.

I blog to keep in touch with my customers, and to inspire creativity. I don't often 'gush' about products, but I am a SU! demo, so try to exclusively use those products (though there are exceptions).

No point for me promoting another company's items when they can't be ordered through me (which is one part of why I have the blog)
