Need help creating drop down menu

As you can see on my blog (linked in signature) I've got my archives to be under a drop down menu. I'd like to do that for my labels and for my popular posts. At mininum, for my labels, anyway. I want to give the blog a cleaner look and I think that would help.

I'm looking and looking for some suggestions/help in starting a blog. I've done a little research and have noticed that many use "Blogger". Before I embark on this adventure. . .I would love some feedback and/or suggestions on how to start this whole process. I know once I do, it will be OCD for sure (as if card making isn't that already) Any help greatly appreciated. Jan
