Default How to make Wordpress Look Better

I am starting this new thread in hope that if you have a wordpress blog, you can share your tips on how to make it look better. I gave up on Blogspot. I rather use wordpress.

First off, How do I change the template with something I downloaded? I found an adorable template I want to use.

Unfortunately, with a Wordpress hosted blog you are limited to the templates they provide, unless you upgrade to a paid plan. I think it is $15 per year for the upgrade.

I can't imagine why widgets would not be showing up on every page. As far as I know they should be.

I had a Wordpress blog and although it had a lot of extra cool features I had a terrible time trying to customize it and it just made me frustrated. I found that Blogger was easier for me to use, with that said I can't wait to see what kind of changes you make

funny I find wordpress easier to use. Blogger had widgets and stuff but it was too weird for me? lol. The wordpress templates are gorgeous if nothing else.

The theme you choose will decide where your sidebar/widgets show up. The template is probably set up to only show them on the home page. I had to do some modification to the template when I made the theme for the CHA blog here on SCS.

Wordpress is definately a very powerful blogging software but if you want to customize it you need to know how to edit the themes or create your own.

I use wordpress but I have it customized by using the wordpress.net which you install onto a domain. Prior to that I have worked in blogger and typepad and the wordpress I use now is by far the best out there... however, you need to know how to make changes via html etc to make it look right. Sorry... guess that does not help much, eh?
