Default Which blog system?

Hi people, I'm just now delving into the realm of creating a blog thingy and not knowing too much about it all I've been checking out Blogger.com and Wordpress because they're both free I guess lol.

Does anyone have any thoughts on which one to go with? and what are the pros and cons of each? Which ones do you guys go with?

Any responses will be gladly appreciated. Thanks
EELS

I love Blogger. It's already integrated with my gmail account and I get customization tips from bloggerbuster.com. They also have nice free blog templates.

I love blogger too! I didn't really know anything about blogging before I started, and I didn't have any trouble. This forum is a great resource too.

I started with blogger but ended up using wordpress on my own webspace mainly because I have more control over the design of my blog and because I can organize my uploads the way I want. And there are so many wordpress plugins you can choose from!

I heard that google ranking is slightly better if you use blogger as it is a google product but I'm not sure about that. With some keywords my wordpress blog is under the first 5 search results and I haven't done any SEO.

But that doesn't mean one is 'better' than the other. I think that totally depends on the point of view.

I'd suggest to sign up for a free account on both platforms and just try out which one you feel more comfortable with.

I'm a Blogger and Typepad guru, but it really depends on what you are focusing on when using your blog. Are you just posting about techniques, projects, samples, upcoming events or promotions? Or is your main focus selling kits and tutorials? Blogger, Typepad and WordPress all have a "pages" feature to setup an online store. All have great functionality. So it depends also on your budget. Blogger is exceptional with what it can do for free! See my blog, Welcome to Hand Stamped By Heather, which is a Blogger blog with 3 columns, paypal buttons, kits for sale, navigation bar and drop down menu and more. Blogger can do it all, for FREE. But Typepad does have some cool features blogger does not yet have, but I think you could get away with it.

Best wishes and success!
Heather

I suggest blogger, but be sure to set your settings to Updated Editor. It makes blogging so much easier to use! Please let me know if you need any help, send me a PM and I will happily assist.
