Well, it looks like Kelly and I were typing at the same time. Tee Hee!

Hi Kelly! YAY for the new friend... and your part in helping someone have a dream craft room! Congrats to DD for earning the trip to Tallahassee... she'll do great, I'm sure! I hear you on the grands... none here... and might not get any. Who knows. How is DD doing after last week's scare at school?

Speaking of scares at school......... my DD had one yesterday and it's still a scare-in-progress.

For those of you who don't know this, my DD's house (and about 4-5 other teacher's houses) were broken into over the summer. In part because my DD recognized "her" ring being worn by a villager, they have figured out who did the break-ins. That is not new news... but it escalated yesterday. The local/village policeman (who isn't' used to dealing with much) tried to apprehend him. He ran/escaped. The whole village went into lock-down - including, of course, the school where DD was. He had a gun - even supposedly fired a few shots, but no one was hurt. Well......... they still didn't catch him. The state troopers tried to get to the village... but no flights in/out due to yesterday's snow.

The village is still in lock-down. Parents were allowed to come get their children... and the teachers were taken to their homes in the school's one and only pickup.

I'm not sure what today will bring.

I will tell you this - so you'll know better how to pray for DD - since my niece's death at Virginia Tech, our DD is a bit edgy about safety situations - so I can anticipate she is picturing every possible scenario and is perhaps more uneasy than she should be. For instance, he did break into her house this summer, so what will keep him from doing so now... that sort of thing.

I'll be so thankful when this situation is under control!!!

Default Hello

I called in sick today, slept until about 11:30 - stuffy and a tad dizzy, but mostly tired........ I think I will try to stamp this afternoon....

Goodness Jeanette, that is a scary event with your daughter- will keep her in prayers and hoping that they catch the thief without incident!
Hope you have a productive day with organizing- it is something- as I move to my new room, you have to look at everything and find things you forgot you had......

Maxine- Grandma on the go! I look forward to those days, and told my girls this summer (neither of which have a boyfriend) that they need to hurry up and get married and have kid while I can still pick them up. With my neck and back issues, that is a worry of mine, and I need baby time. Sunday in church, we raised our hands to say the Our Father, and a baby in front of me handed me her toy...back and forth three times : ) it was so precious!

Kelly- I wanted 10 kids....I don't know if I would have had the energy for all of them, and you have one more than I did and with 4.... I do get the fond memories of all of the fun at soccer games and high school sports sitting in the bleachers with the other parents, or at other events as well..... College, we did a bit less, but now we do fun running to visit : ) And, I work more too- when they were in HS, I only worked one day a week...... Blessings to you with all of the kids accomplishments and ribbons- how awesome!

Barb- I hope when I finally get to retire, that I get out and about like you! We talk alot about where we want to end up- Illinois is not our first choice, want to either go north or West (we think- changes every so often.....) I tell hubby we need to see where the G-kids end up (hehehehe)........ IF we ever get any!

Lynn- glad the back is improving- gotta keep up with the exercises- I am a tad bit lax with mine and need to do them every day! Congrats with your win and, like Kelly said- that FB group is very active! I have not posted in it yet, waiting till I catch up! I am going to try to make my own Misti today I think....... Will post what I do on the blog in the next couple of days......
I read up on the posts of your friend- so, so sad- he is soooo young!

Maggie- Good for you getting organized! I am going to work some in my 'cabana' today and look forward to finishing- baby steps as I sor and organize. I was putting my stamps in 8x11 clear containers by Stampendous, but they have tripled in price recently! I did buy some drawers for 12x2 papers- I know they would not be airtight- they are from Michaels and were on a huge reduction......

Waving hi to everyone else!!!

Shelly

Hi all!

Just caught up on the messages. Sending prayers for those who need them. Big hugs too! Have I missed any updates on Darlene's DD? Jeanette, I can't imagine what your DD must be feeling. I would be scared that another break in may happen. I hope they catch the guy soon.

We had a wonderful anniversary. Friday was a gorgeous weather day and we spent it at a zoo and stopped at the casino on the way home for pizza from our favorite place and pastries from Carlo's Bake Shop (of Cake Boss fame!) It just opened last week. It was so good!! Glad it's an hour away or else I would be there often LOL! Sunday went well with the family here. We enjoyed our new deck. It's mostly stained now and we have half of our patio furniture. We've had some issues with Home Depot that are close to being resolved so hopefully we will have our dining set soon.

Crop was okay on Saturday. Will likely take a break and craft at home for a few months. I did get 5 pages done. Kaleb looked at his album for the first time and kept asking who the baby was LOL! He didn't get that it was him as a little one

I blogged from my phone this morning and will have posts up for a few days. I didn't realize I hadn't blogged in a few weeks! This weekend I pack for Disney on Saturday and fly out early on Sunday!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Barb, it was a good Tuesday - thank you!

Shelly, I had to laugh a bit about your G'kids comments. When DH and I were still raising our children and talked about the day he would retire -- off in the far distance -- I always said, "We WILL retire close to the g'kids." Now I'm thinking we might never get any g'kids.... so where to retire is up in the air. LOL!

Kristie, I'm glad you enjoyed your anniversary! And a trip to Disney - soon. How fun!

I want to thank you for praying for my DD. Here is the update, as of yesterday evening... The "thief" has left the village, which means they are no longer on lock-down. He was spotted (but not apprehended) in Russian Mission - another village not all that far away... but remember, there are no roads there, so he had to leave via boat (flights were grounded because of the weather), which means if he came back (which is unlikely) it will have to be by boat or plane.

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

Good Morning--Happy Thursday! I have a couple of busy days coming up and may not be back to SCS until Monday or even Tuesday. We have our friends from Colorado coming in this afternoon, so I have some house cleaning to do before that!

Have a great day and a nice weekend--see you all sometime next week!

Hi all and waving from a SOAKED Miami! Wish we had a gorgeous Autumn and beautiful Fall leaves - instead we get torrential rain, sticky yucky humidity and palm tree branches a 'flyin! It was a crazy commute to the school(s) today!

Dd20 was given two free tickets to see The Intern pre-premiere tonight w/ Robert De Niro/Anne Hathaway and it looks interesting enough I have been sick with a virus of some sort for 2 days - hitting hardest late yesterday afternoon and through the night, sleeping with a bucket! If I make the movie today, it'll be sans popcorn and candy, that's for sure.

We ended up getting the dryer fixed finally - we had a recommendation from a friend at church. The guy said he wasn't sure what was wrong with it (turns out, he was an a/c guy! But it was a nice thought!) and said he'd come back. Dh took matters into his own hands and found out with a power electrical tester thingie what part was malfunctioning and turns out - it was a knob! It had cracked and wouldn't turn - oh my, I can't even imagine what it would have cost to pay the repair man ....... for a knob Score 1 for dh!

And on days like this, I'm glad I'm not carting my laundry to the line! LOL!

Shel, 10 kids? That's a lot! I wanted 2. Dh always wanted 4. We settled on 3 But God had other plans, clearly - as our son was not supposed to be here and truly a miracle in his own right ♥ So I joke that dh must have an inside connection because in the end, he got his 4

Jeanette, how scary for your daughter -- glad she's able to continue onward with her work and life and return to normalcy after that scare!

Sending special hugs to Darlene as I know she needs them. I couldn't sleep last night (aside from being sick) because my heart aches so much for you. I don't know even the words to share with you on how much I feel for you or how many prayers are ascending for you and Amanda. So I just do what I know best, get on my knees and continue to pray. Hugs to you, dear.

*Blessings to all*

Barb, enjoy your company!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!
(I sure missed you yesterday - no computer time as I was gone all morning and then had too much to do to stop and chat.)

Barb, have a FABULOUS weekend!!!

Kelly, I'm so sorry you're sick. And I agree, my heart aches for Darlene and I keep praying... but words seem so inadequate.

Kristie, I agree... I'm glad the thief left town. I really don't think he's a danger, but one never knows.

As the saying goes... so much to do, so little time....... so I'm skimming and rushing through........ but sending lots and lots of

Oh, and I will not be on SCS at all this weekend.... so I'll see you Monday (but only Monday, as I'll be out of town/state the rest of next week).

Stopping by to say hi!

We ran errands this morning and now I'm procrastinating lol. I need to get a move on laundry so I can pack!! I leave very early tomorrow and will be back late Wednesday night. Hopefully after next weekend, life will return to normal and slow down a bit.

Default Hello

Hello ladies
Checking in- have been busy! The house is q-u-i-e-t with the girls gone. Katie is home for the weekend- has no Wifi at home yet......and has to grade papers which the kids do online or on computer. She says if the kids do not get their work done in class, many have no computers at home to finish their work, so teachers are beginning to volunteer for study halls before and after school.

I had a virus last week- dizzy, stuffy and exhausted! I spent a couple of days just sleeping all day or staring into space,,,,, I only got one card made- for a DT, and no organizing, so hope to get to that with my days off work next week.

Kristi- have a blast at Disney- how fun! Your anniversary sounds like so much fun! Your party sounds like it was fun and so great to complete a big project like a deck too!

Jeanette- glad to hear your daughter is safe and the village too. Have a great time with your church work- you are a busy lady!

Kelly- hope you are felling better, and I am glad I did not have your virus- I hate stomach flu! Did you make it to the movie? Score for figuring out what was wrong with the dryer yourselves!

Barb- have a great weekend with your company- such beautiful weather right now- not too hot, not too chilly : )

Waving hello to everyone else- have a fab weekend!

Shelly

Quick check in. We're fine here. Going to take a short blogging break and will see everyone later. I just needed some 'me' time.
Hope everyone is fine.

Aww Lynn - will miss your blogging, but can understand your need for 'me' time. Glad to hear you are ok.

Kristie I have been procrastinating in the garden this afternoon - wonderful warm spring afternoon and the vegetable garden is now looking somewhat civilized! Hope you get what needs to be done, done in time, and have a wonderful trip .

Jeanette you are one dynamic woman - I am impressed with how much you accomplish!! it was good to hear that your daughters village is now a safer place to be.

Shelly that virus sounds horrible - glad to hear you are on the mend now.

Barb I hope your weekend has been as wonderful as you planned

Darlene I am still praying for you and Amanda. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Kelly I cannot image how you cope with virtually all day in a vehicle - I would go spare, so I admire you - maybe it is the lure of SB's that keeps you sane Glad you were able to fix your drier before the rain hit!!

We spent Saturday babysitting while DD and SIL went away for their anniversary - the other grand parent took over for Saturday night/Sunday.

Quote of the weekend from DGD (aged 5) "No I can't be quiet as I have all these words in my head and they have to come out!" How do you answer that one!!

that family has had a virus in the house (DGS) and now it looks as though both parents have it, and maybe even DH Not what I would want...

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Kristie, I hope your trip is FABULOUS!

Shelly, I'm sure your house IS quiet... hopefully you are coping okay. And how nice that Katie came home for a visit - even if it was to grade papers!

Lynn, I hope you enjoy your "me" time. Sometimes we just need to do that. (((HUGS)))

Maxine, you've made me blush. Thank you for your sweet words. I'm sorry to hear your family members are not feeling well. Try to be a distant nurse so you don't catch the bug. OH.... and I loved your DGD's quote. Makes perfect sense to me!

FYI - I'm leaving early tomorrow morning... and will be gone the rest of the week. So you most likely won't see me here again until next Monday.

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

hugs all. i am sorry to have been away for so long. i don't even know where my days have gone!

back in school, working on campus, holding executive positions in 2 student governments, one for campus and one for system... and then the kids + sports + extra curriculars and home and the usual... i'm EXHAUSTED.

Baby turns 1 on wednesday and we're holding a big 1st birthday party for him on saturday oct 3rd so i've been on overdrive for the past few weeks. will be paring down work hours to the minimum (7 or 13 hours/week instead of 20... not sure what it'll change to until they know if i have a replacement or will be working from home) but either way i'm home tues/thurs with the baby and will be able to catch up on housework. it's such a mess right now!!

so once again, HUGS... sending love and prayers to everyone who needs them, thinking about you guys often and i promise i'll be back once everything cools down. i miss chatting with you!!

Just checkin in!

Getting harder and harder to find any online time - there are days that go by that I just can't seem to find 5 free minutes in any corner, either commuting or extra curricular things keep me 1. from home and 2. a life - LOL!

Kel, can't believe the little one is already a year old! Holy Schmoly - Happy Birthday blessings to your son ♥

Nothing new to report so I'll just wave and wish everyone a happy day!

Good Morning-Happy Wednesday!

It is truly a fall day here in Wisconsin on the last day of September--temps were in the 40's this morning and we are only to be in the 50-60's all week through the weekend. I have all of the Thank You cards laying on two large tables in the family room, ready to swap and package this morning. I also hope to cut the grass today and it might be the final time of the year--and I probably need to wear a jacket! We hit 80 on Monday and it is on the downslide now!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Good Afternoon Ladies! I am late checking in here as I got a text from my friend Claudia to meet her at a coffee shop this morning for my birthday! I then came home and decorated for Halloween--it is a bit spooky and scary in our house now.............

I am headed to the stamp room as it is more than a week since I have actually made a card and I think I am going through withdrawal......... I did swap out the packages of Thank You cards yesterday and sent them--so I think it counts that I touched cardstock and ink and embellishments.........

Have a fantastic Thursday and the start to October!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
We're supposed to start getting cooler weather, but the weatherman says that it won't get really cool for some weeks yet. That's okay by me. I don't mind the Fall, but don't like the cold Winter.

Glad that you and Jim are doing better. An afternoon nap sounds delightful!

Maxine, you are so good at keeping us updated when someone wins. Thank you for doing that!

Oh Maggie, I didn't realize the driver of the car was a schoolteacher. How tragic for her. Loving students, investing her life in them, and then this. Tragic! Oh I wish you well in getting published! I am sure it will happen someday - because you are so creative and talented!

About my "toys"... most of them ARE in the garage. When we moved to this house, I really had no other option - other than getting rid of all of them, which wasn't an option. I do worry about them sometimes, but they seem to be fairing well. Truthfully, I don't worry about the papers at all - they should be able to handle the temperature shifts. It is the rubber and the ink that worries me. But they seem to be holding up okay.

Lynn, so good to see you when you are able to pop in! It's nice that Jim takes a nap to allow you some "me" time!

Waving to everyone else and............

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))
Thankyou Jeanette. I just need some down time to focus on getting some things made to submit for publication. It seems that I'm always behind. I think I need to reevaluate my priorities.

That's good to know that your toys do well in the garage. I was able to do a little bit more work cleaning it out, but it'll be another 2 weeks before I can get out there again. I won't keep the stamps and ink out there, just dp and c/s. I should look around for a 12 x 12 cabinet with drawers to hold the papers.

DH was well enough to come and watch for a while, and saw DGD run, but this chest infection has really knocked him , so he went and sat in the car before all the races were finished, and the rain came!! The "medal ceremony" was held in the school hall because of that. then we had to take DGD home as her Dad was stuck to the couch cuddling one sick boy.

Oh the joys of grand-parenting - we have to collect the other DGS after his pre-school tomorrow as well. I am beginning to appreciate my Mother's comment to me, that should we ever go and live near them, she was not going to be a free babysitter

I got three cards made Sunday afternoon and have been posting them bit by bit.

Lynn I can understand how you are feeling - make the most of Jim's snoozes!!

Jeanette you really are a woman on the go - and obviously a fount of wisdom that your elders want to keep tapping!

Barb I hope your stamping group went well - sounds like a worthwhile class to be attending.

Maggie I love how you reply to each posting - I am too lazy and just do one long post every now and again - I do visit here a lot and keep up with the reading.

Shelly I do hope Adam is recovering from that trauma - that was a nasty event, and as Maggie said, she must have had other underlying issues . Great to have both your girls relatively close to you.

Hugs to you all {{{{}}}}}
Sorry about all the sickies Maxine. I sure hope that the grands are feeling better these days and you can all enjoy watching the cross country racing.

[QUOTE=MiamiKel4;21076307]Good Morning, all! We never stay home long enough for me to manage to get online, or if I do, to hit all my threads! But thinking of you all, that's true ♥

Managed to get through our ridiculous weekend of events, even snuck in a sale of my craft room furniture Made a wonderful new friend! She sent me pictures of her mom's finished room. I'm struggling to craft these days - not for lack of the Cabana (yes, I miss it!) and the kiosk is just fine, just lack of mojo - being too busy - and not ever being home!

Congrats on your win, Lynn!

That really would have been so scary. Glad that no one was injured during the whole chase and shooting incident. A few years ago we had police all over our neighborhood when I got home from work one evening. Seemed that they were chasing a murder suspect and he had fled into our neighborhood and to our street. Somehow he got into the house a couple to the right of me. They had patrol cars and K-9 units all up and down the street and the police came around to all of us and told us to leave our homes and go down the street. It didn't take them too much longer to apprehend the person and we were allowed to go back home. I was just telling a friend at work that I don't even like to go into my own fenced in back yard at night when it's dark out.

I've seen some of your photos at Disney on FB. Looks like you are all having a fabulous time!

Darlene I am still praying for you and Amanda. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

You have been having a lot of grandparent duty lately. I sure hope that the virus doesn't make it over to your house!

LOL! As they say, out of the mouths of babes!

Good luck on the vegetable garden. I've heard a few people say that this year again was not a good year to grow a garden. Glad I didn't try. It gets so frustrating with all the work and then no reward.

I know what you mean. It's been crazy busy at the office and if the boss is in with no meetings or mediations it's harder to get on here. He also drives me NUTS! I've been having some computer issues at homes so I've been trying to fix that without much luck. I may have to call the Geek Squad in to check it out. It only happens at home though so we think it might have something to do with the wireless router. I finished up a swap that I needed to send out today and then realized that my DT card is due on Friday so I'll be working on that tonight. I have the image printed, but I need to color it and figure out a layout for it.

Oh no - another college shooting over your way shocking.
Awful connection to NZ too, as there was a student from here involved. He escaped unhurt, but the friend he was running from the shooter with, was killed. Although not physically unscathed, he, along with hundreds of others will have emotional scars.

Prayers

Such a senseless tragedy. I didn't hear whether the shooter left some sort of explanation behind. I think they said he was only 20 years old. What a waste of a life. So sad for the families of the 13 victims. Glad to hear that the New Zealand student survived.

Good Morning--Happy Friday! I am off to run a few errands this morning and then I have hostess club this afternoon. Tomorrow morning we are heading with two friends to Madison to the Badger game. We will take in the pre-game festivities and hope to get tickets to the game. If not--we will find a social-place to watch the game!

Have a great start to the weekend!

Happy belated birthday, Barb!

TGIF all. Back from my short trip. Tons of fun but awful flight home on Wednesday evening. I took yesterday off as I was not feeling well at all. Still not up to par but back to the grind.

Tomorrow is World Card Making Day and I am hoping to get a good night's sleep so I can be prepared to create a lot!

Woohoo - it's Friday! Cleaned the house from top to bottom and now everyone has to stay on the porch 'til Monday! LOL! Kidding

It's been a loooooooong week! Tonight is happy hour with the girls - I've actually been looking forward to it for days, I need to unwind and laugh and eat! I'm down `7 pounds and haven't tried - stress, worry, lack of time, too much coffee, not enough food - who knows! I don't own scales anymore and noticed I can pull on my jeans and shorts without unbuttoning and they are loose(r) - except they tend to slide down just the same so I had to borrow dd's belt!

DD18 just drove off with the girls. They are going to be gone until Monday doing the theme parks - mostly Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. We would take them every Fall but this year we can't. I think she'll have a blast, and though I'm (always) worried, she WAS going to go away to college so what can I really sweat about!

Maxine, I saw the breaking story of the shooting and just got so teary eyed thinking NOT AGAIN. Those poor families, and that of the victims as well - such a sad loss all around. And the fact that he was asking for their religions - you know he was a troubled soul. My heart aches.

Barb, I hope your birthday was FAB! Kristie, welcome home - can't go wrong at Disney, but yuck on the plane ride

My son has track and field today- decided to sign up and JUST made it. He used to be really fit and active in TaeKwanDo, stopped going and now said he feels like doing something else. He came in 3rd to last My dd's boyfriend said he would run with him and train him - LOL. I think it's a sweet gesture but said hello, you're taking me, too! I want a personal trainer!

Still no time to get crafty but hope to squeez in some cards this weekend!

Hugs all around!
