We are home now - rather tired after a morning of packing followed by the drive - we shared the driving 50/50, DGS slept for part of the trip and Miss drama queen did well too. Two potty stops for Miss DQ and one for an afternoon tea and play. :-0 yawning now.

Snow! Looks like Witch Hazel will need a sleigh instead of a broom.

Question?

My car insurance is up for renewal the 1st of December. For as long as I can remember, I've always paid it monthly, but now I'm thinking I'd rather pay for the 6 mos. It will save me $8 per month. Do you think it's worth it?

Well worth it Maggie - $8 a month saved = $48 over six months.

Maggie - saving $ is always a good thing. $48 equals quite a few stamps

Maxine - glad the drive went well!

Jeanette - We love going to Olive Garden. I love when they offer the never ending pasta bowl even though I never have more than one! My mom had given us $ for our anniversary last month and we went to Olive Garden a few weeks ago for date night.

Kel - One month went by super fast!

Thanks for the prayers and welcome backs. Mom's surgery went well today. I'm not sure how I'm still going since I've been up since 6! I was going to post while we were there but I gave my stepdad my iPad to play on and I read on my Kindle. The procedure for the guide wire and the surgery were about an hour each but it took 2 hours for recovery. It took her longer than expected to come out of the anesthesia. We were all very antsy by that point. She got to go home about 2pm and then I spent the rest of the afternoon with my sister. It was nice since we rarely go out with just the two of us.

Tomorrow is my crop and then I will be around Sunday to visit blogs and such. We are going to have a lazy day and catch up on a bunch of shows we missed during the World Series.

Kristie, glad you mom came through the surgery just fine. Hugs to you!
Barb, SNOW!!!!!!!! Yikes!!!!! I was in short yesterday! LOL!
Maggie, glad you can keep celebrating your birthday going out to eat. Know that was fun and the food really must have been delicious!
Kel, give that little baby all the snuggles you can. They grow up fast - but you can still snuggle even when they're older......to a point! LOL!
Maxine, sounds like every one is going to be settling in just fine. I'm so glad to know that one of your grands is a drama queen too! I've got two of them!
Kelly, Shelly, Darlene, Jeanette......and whoever else....hope y'all have a great weekend.

LOL! No ropin' and all that for me I'm afraid. Actually Tuesday was spent with a meeting of the minds, and then an actual meeting. So much involved in all that. then yesterday had an appointment with the eye specialist. Good news there though as I can get rid of the high price prescription meds he had me on for dry eye. This weekend is just going to be a little "me" time! For Pete's sake.....I'm suppose to be retired!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Kristie, I'm so glad your mom's surgery went okay. Hope you got some rest last night.

Lynn, yes, for pete's sake, you are. *snickering

Barb, please keep ALL snow north of me!

Maggie, we always pay our insurance for 6 months at a time, to save some money. Works well for us.

Waving at everyone else.

Ahhh - it is peaceful and almost sane here - one child asleep, DH and SIL outside sorting the transformation of my back lawn into a playground with a swing set and trampoline, DD currently quiet and the cats not hissing at each other........ we have also had DS and the other DGS here for most of the morning Full time grandparenting now .
Still no time for blog hopping or card making - thankfully I had my DT work done, and hopefully I will get them blogged tonight....

Good to see you are all behaving here - Waving from down under to you all

Maxine... most of us are behaving. Barb's the only one we have to be concerned about. LOL! Glad to hear you're doing okay!

Hi Stamp Addicts! I left work early yesterday to go to the Orthopedist. Didn't take very long. The PA at first was going to do an MRI, but then decided to try the shots again. She gave me one in my shoulder and one in the deltoid bursa. That was the first time that I got one in the deltoid bursa. She said to give it a couple days to see if it's going to work. Discontinue taking the Celebrex. If it's not better in 2 weeks, then they will schedule and MRI to see what else is going on.

I was done by 3, so decided to do a couple errands instead of going back to the office. My boss was already gone and I was planning to not go back anyway. First went to the EZ Tag store to replace the one that we took off of my old car. It was already starting to peal off the window. After that I went to do Early Voting. Got out of there about 5 and then went to pick up 2 prescriptions. They wanted me to pay $108 for the Celebrex and the other one was $0. I didn't understand that because on the website it says that I've paid $3000 and met my deductible. Since the PA told me that I didn't need to take the Celebrex, I refused it and just took the other one that they weren't charging me for. Called BCBS to find out what the deal was. She said that I still owed $108 to meet my deductible. I don't understand why it shows that. She's going to do a manual check on my account and figure it out for me. Should hear next week some time.

I had a busy day. Started out at a baby shower at 10 a.m. It was for the lady who is my visiting teacher. It's their 1st and they do not want to know the sex of the baby. Have not had any tests done for that. I gave them a GC to Amazon. She's registered on there, but now she can wait until after the baby comes and get something gender related. It was fun. There were quite a few people there. I kind of had lunch there, so I didn't do anything about that when I got home.

I did spend a little over an hour looking at recipes and meal plans on the Mayo Clinic Diet website. Nothing really special about it except that you're not supposed to eat any sweets unless it comes from fruit. That's going to be a problem for me, but I'm sticking to the 1200 calories per day. I only have 10 pounds to lose and I hope with tracking and working out, I'll be able to do it.

Had to do the grocery shopping after looking at recipes so I could get what I needed. I also decided to start using my food storage for most of the items of food that I need. Tonight I made Chicken with Asparagus and Rice. I used some Freeze-dried chicken dices and Freeze-dried Asparagus. I have rice and diced tomatoes in my food storage pantry, so I didn't have to buy anything for dinner tonight. The recipe said that it made 2 servings, but I cut it in half and it still made enough for 2 servings, so I had 1/2 left over.

This evening I went to the Thrive website where I get some of my FD foods and set up a "Q" Account. This is where you sign up to get monthly shipments of food storage foods or other emergency essential items. I went through and picked out items that I wanted to add to my food storage and set a monthly budget. They they calculate what you can order that month and make a schedule for 3 months. I went through the 3 months and made a few changes, but kept it within my budget.

I had to spend some time looking up using Google for Family History for my class tomorrow. It's the last Sunday for this bunch of young men. Now, I'm all showered and ready for bed. I've changed a couple of the clocks back already and can't decide if I should go to bed at the old time and get more sleep or new time and get my regular 8 hours.

Default Hi

A quick hello- I am in Ky till Mo.
We left Friday afternoon- I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off all week...... It was snowing in Northern Indiana, but not enough to accumulate in any way. Heading home on Monday nite, and working and voting on Tuesday. Hoping it heats up a touch- a week ago, we were biking and drinking beers on the porch with friends!

We arrived at my parents and chatted and watched a little TV, and early AM- 6:45 AM here- which is 5:45 where I am from.....Dad woke me up and Mom was experiencing symptoms of a TIA (mini stroke), so I took her to the ER. They worked very efficiently and got her testing going- CT was negative. Ray brought Dad to the ER, so I decided- holding my breath- to go ahead and drive to Lexington for Stephi's Regional race. She came in 3rd out of 140 runners - Yippee. It was snowing and 30's in Lexington- really!

Back home- went to the hospital- kicked to boys out and put Mom's bed flat after I rubber her neck and she was snoring in minutes : ) I hope she has a quiet nite, and if she does, they will send her home tomorrow.

Waving hi to everyone- Kristie- glad you are back and good to see your Mom did OK with her surgery!

I'll stop back in Tuesday nite or Wednesday again.

Oh- Kristie- need your address and B-day for a group list- and I will send it out via SCS mail.
Kel, I rec's yours- thanks : )

Nite
Shelly

I didn't get a workout in yesterday or today. I was too tired when I got home yesterday especially after standing in line for over 1/2 hour to vote. Today I just got too busy with errands and chores around the house. I didn't even get any stamping in today, but will have time tomorrow to do that. I have a DT card that I need to get done.

My sis called me this afternoon to tell me that they have put my BIL on oxygen. He's a former smoker but now has emphysema and asbestosis which he got on one of the naval ships he was on during his service. Of course, now the VA will not say that he has asbestosis even though his pulmonary doctor put in his report that he does! I know they are denying it just so they don't have to pay anything to him for the damage it did to his lungs. Prayers for them will be appreciated. They seem to be taking it in stride. But these are the 2 things that my dad had also and I saw what he and my mom went through.

Just tried to leave a message using the new smart phone that the family gave me for my birthday - albeit a bit late.. The chaos is gradually getting sorted - I think...

Hi everyone!

Shelly - I hope your Mom will be okay and can go home tomorrow. Glad you got to see Stephi race, 3rd place is awesome!! I'm going to pretend I didn't see that "s" word lol...not ready for that to happen here yet. It was quite cold today though!

Maggie - Sounds like you were very busy this weekend! I hope the new diet plan works out for you. Sending prayers for your BIL and his family.

I hope everyone else had a good weekend. My crop was fun. I made 8 Christmas cards, shopped, chatted and ate a lot. I went and visited Mom today. She didn't take any pain meds yesterday and finally took one this morning. She felt better after that. I told her of course she would, that's why they prescribed them. I'm hoping as the week goes on, she will get better at relaxing/resting. She can't go back to work until after her follow up appointment on the 12th, so this is going to be a long 12 days for her.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Shelly, how is your mom today? Will you be staying a bit longer since she took ill? Keeping you in my thoughts/prayers!

Maggie, I'm praying for your BIL, too - and your sister. I'm sorry they are dealing with this.

Maxine, I'm glad the chaos is settling a bit. Are you enjoying your birthday present?

Kristie, Hi to you, too!

Waving at everyone else, too!

FYI - We are leaving early tomorrow morning for our state-wide Annual Meeting... so I will not be able to check in again until Friday. I hope you all have a GREAT week!

Good Morning. We are dog sitting Lucy and Maggie this week, so my day started a bit earlier than usual........ plus, I think it takes me a few days to adjust to the time change. I am heading to a Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack later this morning and then a couple of errands. Have a great day! And, a wonderful week!

Lots of prayer requests and folks that are ill - I'm thinking of you all and sending up prayers!

Kristie, that's great news about your mom and the recovery -- continued prayers as I know it takes a little while to get back up the feet again. And of course you'll want her rested up and recooperated for Disney

The Opera was interesting! Thanks for asking It was crazy awful technically - not sure what was going on with the mikes and the speakers but it was either off and we couldn't hear or snapping and popping for the first 15-20 minutes. My daughter never made it to the stage until about 30 minutes in, but I missed her two BFF's completely as we couldn't hear a thing and they are BOTH worth hearing! It was hard to follow along but dd17 was a joy to watch and immersed into her role as "devil" like no other - she was born for this. I'm certain!

SHelly, I hope your mom is better - sounds like she was in good hands (both at the ER and at home with you!) And YAY Steph! 3rd place! What a wonderful and amazing accomplishment!! I'd be like 141 out of 140 - LOL!!
I'm glad you got to go see your 'baby' in the race

Maggie, so sad about your BIL and sader still about the ignoring what his illness may be. I've heard that so many times and the VA really makes me sad sometimes. My dad had VA care for his cancer before he passed and it was enough to raise eyebrows and make the strongest person break. I'll be hoping for good news for you all. As for car insurance, ours is due every 6 months - cheaper that way We have the option of paying it monthly but we save $ by paying it twice a year.

Waving hi to all ~ October was madness but Nov and Dec will not be any quieter so we have a lot to do!
Plus we are heading out of town in December and I have to make so many reservations and book things up - before I run out of time, LOL!

Default Hello!

Hello from Kentucky,
We are heading home today- Mom had a small stroke that was dx by MRI..and was told there were a couple of other small areas where she had most likely had strokes in the past. She was diagnosed last PM and got home about 8PM. She is very tired and has a slight leg drift in her Rt leg. She is not allowed to drive. She has the home PT her now to work with her on the Rt leg.

I am working tomorrow, so looking forward to a couple of days to catch up after tomorrow's work. Maybe even stamp a little but as well : )

Kelly- glad to hear your daughter did so well with singing- so sorry to hear about the bad sound problems there! It is 60 here today, but it was snowing Sat AM here....!

Kristie- so cool your Mom can still go to Disney- that is awesome! Your crop sounds likes a blast too.

Maggie- sorry to hear about your shoulder- ouchie! Hoping the shot works. Sorry to hear about your BIL- and the VA is always an interesting place. My Dad was there about a yr ago- hoping he does not have to go back!

Maxine- hoping you are handling all of the extra activity with the little ones- aren't they just a bundle of energy? Oh my! A smart phone- so much fun-and lots to learn as well.

Barb- so not ready for the snow- hope we are not going to have a winter like last year! Are your dogs- babysitting- getting along?

Waving hello to all- I will get to blogs today or tomorrow: ) Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers for Mom. They are much appreciated.

Shelly

Shelly, Hope all turns out ok with your mom. I know you must be worried sick about them since they're so far away but hopefully all will be fine. That's good that she's having the PT on her leg now.

Waving hi to everyone else

Great to catch up on all your news - so sorry to hear about your Mum's health issues Shelly - those TIA's are always scary. .

Oh Kelly what a disappointment that the technical difficulties plagued the opera - so glad your daughter showed such aplomb in her role.

Maggie I hope those injections work for you - DH is currently suffering a frozen shoulder and it is a real pain

Barb I hope the pet sitting goes well.

Kristie I hope your mum can relax and recover so that the Disney adventure is all that you have hoped it will be. Sunds as though your weekend crop was great, and very productive!

Kel you must be so busy with three little ones, especially a new born - it's good to see you pop in now and again.

Lynn I hope you have given up the rodeo's - they are not kind to us ladies of a certain age

Yes I am having fun using my new phone - quite the learning curve. The chaos is quietening, and DSL has been doing some maintenance around the house, especially 'unsticking' cupboard doors and the like. It's been a shock to the system to go from two to six in the house, but we are getting there - I think.

Better go and start dinner - it's much earlier these days

Dog sitting is going well. The little one is less than a year old and barks at everything! Maggie is three and a golden retriever--she is so calm.

Sounds like they complement each other. Glad that it's all going well for you and them.

Nite
Shelly
Glad to hear that the CT Scans for your mom were negative. I hope that she'll be okay now. My mom had hundreds of mini strokes which led to her dimentia. That was so long ago, but still miss her and dad every day.

Fabulous going for Stephi!!!!!!! Wow! 3rd place out of 140 is awesome. Did she win a prize for that?

The weekend was busy, but now it's a bit quiet here at the office and at home. I'm not happy with Mayo Clinic website. They had some good recipes on there which I printed off a bunch of to incorporate into my meals, but I think I'll continue to track on My Fitness Pal. It's more user friendly and has an enormous database with all the different foods that you could possibly want to track. I only have to put in my own every so often, whereas I was having to put 90% of my own things in the MC.

Glad that your mom is feeling better. I hope that she'll take this opportunity to rest and really recover from her surgery and get ready for Disney!

I've been having a big of difficulty myself adjusting to the time change. I'm waking up too often during the night. Able to get back to sleep, but I don't like waking up more than once.

Hope you had fun at the Stamp a Stack. I need to do that on my own.

So sorry about all the problems with the Opera. I feel for the kids whose parts were affected by that and couldn't project their great voices.

Thanks for the good wishes for my bil and sis. Sorry that your dad had to go through those rough times also with the VA. That has been in the news so much lately and I have another GF who's friend is having issues with them also. You would think that they'd get their act together.

Sorry to hear that about your mom Shelly. I hope that they have her on some meds that will lessen the future risk of more strokes. Does she have high BP?

Still can't comprehend all the snow people have been getting even though it isn't sticking. We're supposed to get rain today, but I haven't seen any so far around my areas of town although they did have some to the South of me this morning. My yard could use a good soaking so hoping for some later today.

Thanks for the good shoulder wishes. I was finally able to do a better workout last night with more range of motion that didn't hurt too bad. I can still feel some pulling in that deltoid area, but it's somewhat better.

My DD in CA posted to me on FB the other day that she was able to drive to the grocery store. Not sure how she did with all the groceries. Guess she'd have someone load them in her car, but then she would have to get them out of the car at home and her DD and DH are gone during the day. At least she'll be able to drive when I get there next Wednesday.
