Oh Jeanette - how sad not to have to go to Starbucks - if that happened to me I would have to drive to Auckland (2 1/2 hours) - would rather go to the local McD's

I think I will stick to my own instant varieties - cheaper in the long run. I stopped for a 'coffee and (only 1 piece of) cake' break on the way home and it was over $9!! NOt impressed, I am sure their prices have gone up recently

Default Hello!

Wow- we have Starbucks everywhere you turn- even at the hospital, in the grocery store and in Target! Sorry you have to hang out there for internet Kelly : ( I do not drink coffee- but like my tea.....

Off the next two days- I am taking a class this month- 18 hours total to learn to tutor ESL students- I get my pupil assignment tomorrow night, and will be setting up out meet & greet next week. We have 14 tutors in the class being trained : )

I signed up at Kit and Clowder- like Maggie- I have signed up for the Skin and hair and the clothing classes- working on Skin and hair first. I cannot seem to find much time lately to work on coloring. SO glad your computer issue was nothing major! What a scare....

We had company this weekend- a Schmidt sleepover.... We went to church when they left and stopped at an estate sale on the way home. I found some cool stuff- got an old Singer sewing machine for $1.00 for my sister (one sis borrowed a sewing machine from my other sis and it is 'missing'). My sis was so upset- and is thrilled to have a machine- ancient and basic as it is- works like a charm. She works FT, so not sure when I will see her, but she is excited : ) Also got a file cabinet- double wide- 4 drawers- perfect for storing all of my papers : ) I guess I had better get working on removing wall paper! We had to get it up to the first floor from the basement- then they helped us to the van- $5.00 Also got a set of off white dishes for $5.00 Ray got a coat for $1.00

Oh- Wes did not turn a chair on the Voice and was not on TV on Monday : (

Maxine- loving the weekly newsletter idea- how fun! Hope you get some time to work on your planting and good weather as the week progresses!

Kelly- so awesome for your SIL and brother- I cannot imagine being away from Ray for 3 years- wow! Hope you had fun at the concert.

Lynn- glad you are back- and hope you find your MoJo!

Waving hello to all.
Off to bed- stayed up too late...oh well!
Shelly

My DH left at 6 this morning to head to the airport for his flight to Alaska. I'm sure sad that I couldn't go, too. But Brock and I will do fine here at home and I'll look forward to hearing all about DH's visit with DD when he returns.

I don't actually write a physical letter Maggie - I type up an email . It is still called the weekly missive within the family.

Kelly I hope you survived the concert What great news for your SIL and brother. .

Hope you got some cards made Lynn, and Barb.

We have had a lovely day here - and I had to spend the bulk of it in the car or hospital - I had to go up to Waikato ( the big, 'base', hospital for the region, where all the specialist equipment is, and where we go for DH's eye appts), for a scan - the gynaecologist ordered it to ensure there is nothing sinister around that is causing my symptoms, as the physical exam showed nothing amiss. The radiologist said it looked good - nothing sinister there. Of course it had to be on the finest day of the week, and I was hoping I would be back in time to get some gardening done as I have more vegetable plants to plant. Hopefully tomorrow

Waving to you all from the end of a gorgeous spring Tuesday
Even so, writing a long letter either on the Internet or by hand is a chore for me.

Sorry you had to make a trip to the hospital for exams. Hope everything is A-OK!

It's beautiful here today. We're supposed to get rain this weekend. Not looking forward to that although I don't have any plans except to drive out to the dealership to get the plates put on my car.

Yikes! What the problem? Who is your provider? I think I'd be checking into a new one if I had to go that long without service. It's great that you have a place nearby to go connect.

We have Starbucks all over the place - grocery stores, the malls, everywhere. I'm not a coffee drinker though so I don't really care where they are.

Good luck with your class. Hope you pass the test.

I find it hard to find the time just to sit and color. Seems I'm always trying to catch up on a DT card.

Score on all the great finds you got at the estate sale.

Sorry that Wes didn't make the cut on The Voice. I've been recording them, but haven't had the chance to watch any of them yet.

Waving hi from the library!!!

I would LOVE to be here under normal circumstances (one of my DREAMS is to one day own a little book nook somewhere on a quaint street in a quiet town .......... ahhhh) but using the free internet while Opera rehearsals go on and on - uh NO!

However, I am grateful for at least this much!

Our server is bellsouth - but we have an apt in to switch. Dh, normally the sweetest, calmest man on the planet, was livid yesterday. He took half a day off and they didn't show or call and it's been excuse after excuse and today the rep was just plain 'ol fibbin! He was trying to retract faster than a roadrunner!

We have an apt next week set up for a new server. It will actually cut our cost by 2/3! It combines our phone, 'net and tv -- right now, we have single servers for each. By combining, we'll get a much better deal - we've hestitated because we WERE happy. If it aint broke, why fix it - LOL.

I miss you girls! I'm so far behind -- I'm reading bits and pieces but LAWD, it is hard on my phone!

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you are close(ish) to San An! I'm going to stay with my SIL/bro so travelin won't be a problem I'd know way in advance so hopefully it would be a chance to meet up!! That would be SUPERB!!!!!!!

HOLY SHOPPING Shelly!!! Those are so fabulous bargains!

I don't know who Wes is? LOL! Did you all watch DWTS last season? Did you Ricky, the wonderful young man who won, just graduated with my daughter from her same school!! He is AMAZING!!! I had the chance to see him IRL and his dancing will just amaze to know end. He's a strong wonderful young man and we were so proud of him. THe school was cheering, we were all wishing wonderful things for him! And there you go!

Sending hugs all around!

I"m pretty sure that they will have Starbucks up in San Antonio.

Soooooooo good to see Kelly here! Sorry it's from the inconvenience of the library, though. I'm hoping you'll be happy when you switch - and saving money is good!

Maggie, I'm not much of a coffee drinker either - but I love Starbucks frappuccinos. (Oh, and I collect Starbucks mugs........ I sure hope DH finds me one while he's in Alaska!)

BTW, he landed about 15 minutes ago.

Waving at Barb, and everyone else, too!

Waving hi!!!!!!!!!

Yep, they have Starbucks in San Antonio - about an hour and a half from me. The closest we'd ever have out here is McDonald's and that's about 20 minutes from here. It really doesn't matter to me though because I don't drink coffee at all!!! Yikes, right!! I don't even like the smell of it!

Shelly, that's fantastic on those prices!!!!!! Wow, wow, wow! Wish I could run into something like that. Don't need another sewing machine though. Jim's sister gave me one she didn't want that's brand new - and I hate the thing! LOL! Love my old Singer that does the basics. So much easier to operate and doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the new ones.

Jeanette, that's great that your husband is off to Alaska!! What a wonderful trip that is. Hopefully, you and Brock can go next time!

I bit the bullet and signed up for that Copic class. It's the one that Jennifer McGruire, Kristina Werner, and Sandy (someone) are having. Don't think I'm ready to tackle the Kit and Clowder one just yet! This one is very, very basic but exactly what I need since I realized I don't know anything about them! LOL! I'm learning a ton of stuff and practicing every day. Hopefully I can get a little better anyway. Scared to actually make a card with what I'm doing so far though. LOL! Maybe soon. I started the class late - but have access to it for life - so am just taking my time and watching the videos, practicing, watching the videos again, etc. I didn't realize I NEEEEED so many more markers though! HA!!! Think I'd better win the lottery first! I keep telling myself that I'll just buy a few at a time - but then when I make out the list of the ones I want.......ka-ching!!! LOL! So, to solve that problem I just haven't ordered any yet. Kinda want to see what colors I really, really want first.

Other than that I haven't been up to much. Plugging along as always around here. I have managed to make a couple of cards though so maybe some of the mojo is coming back slowly.

Hi Lynn... I hope you'll LOVE your class!

Next time I am going - it will be spring. Brock is not. He's actually the reason DH and I didn't both go this time. Brock refuses to fly - which makes going to the bush of Alaska impossible.

Default Hello!

Hi all! Going to hop around blogs in a bit. I had piano today- told the teacher we got a piano lamp at the estate sale - for $8.00- double lamp in it- she says they cost a minimum of $150.00 Yippee- makes me happy. Hubby looked up the double file cabinet and says they sell for $500.00- shut up! We paid $1.00........ Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Thank you, Shelly... Brock and I will do fine! He's such an easy guy to keep happy. And I even managed to "fix" his commode last night - yep, it completely malfunctioned and over-flowed. EEK!

We probably could skype with DD and DH, but we won't. He's really only going to be with her for 3 days (and one of them she'll be working) so I want them to be able to spend the time together and won't interrupt that special father/daughter experience.

They're going to cook moose tonight - I think. He's so excited! He had Caribou Meatloaf in an Anchorage restaurant last night.

Shelly and Lynn--could I ask you to please post the links of the Copic Classes you are taking online? I too would like to sign up for one to have the ability to check it out when I need a boost. Thanks!

Barb, here's the link for the class I'm taking: Online Card Classes - workshops and classes for cardmakers They offer a whole bunch of classes and I've taken a couple. When the link page comes up you'll notice that the Copic class is right at the top - all the way across the screen. Just click on that and it'll take you to info about the class. You can start the classes at any time which I like. I didn't sign up for this when it first started and so glad I did now. As I said, I just really didn't know anything about coloring with them. I think I've watched every video out there but this class is helping me a ton and really explaining it all.
I know the Kit and Clowder is good too - and especially if you've already taken some Copic classes or know what you're doing. LOL!

Shelly, you made out like a bandit at that estate sale!!!!!!! Woohoo! And no....nothing you ever do is crappy! LOL!

Jeanette, I don't blame Brock about being scared of flying one little bit. After having to change plans at the Atlanta (Georgia) airport going to Pennsylvania I can see his point exactly! What a nightmare! I had to do the same thing coming back but in Detroit - and I swear it was just as bad almost! The flying part I love though! Just get a little antsy not being able to get up and move around, etc. Um......not sure if Caribou meatloaf sounds good or not - guess it's about the same with any meat though.

My DH knows how to butter up "his" cook, though... he said it wasn't as good as my meatloaf. LOL!

Hey Lynn, glad that you took the Copic's plunge and are taking a class. Baby steps are okay. You learn the basics first and then go on from there. As to colors, I would figure out what colors you like for certain things; for instance, with all the training and classes I've taken, I still like E50, E51, and E53 for my Caucasian skin tones. Sometimes I venture out with colors that have been suggested, but most often I come back to those. So figure out what 3 color you like for brown hair or blonde hair and get those. Basic blues are good for pants or skirts. See what they suggest for denim. The pinks that are good are R81, R83, and R85. If you look at the families like that, then you can see which ones would be best to get to start with.

I'm looking forward to a San Antonio get together next year. Anyone else want to come down for a visit?????

I remember coming to Houston once when my oldest DD was a toddler and we had to change plans in Georgia. That was the WORST trip I've ever had to take. We hardly had time to make our connecting flight and I was dragging her through one terminal to get over to the other one. After that I don't fly unless it's a nonstop flight where I don't have to get off the plane.

I also like that about the K & C classes. You can start whenever and take as long as you want. I was taking a techniques class a long time ago and haven't finished it. Not sure if I can go back and find that web page anymore. I would like to finish that up one of these days too.

I had quite the morning. I had ALL 4 of the kitties to the Vet! Yep, for those ear mites that Casper and Corey had been treated for last year. Only problem was I guess we never treated Paisley and Maggie Mae. When I noticed all of them scratching and shaking their heads, I figured I better get them in all at once. Turns out that Maggie Mae didn't have any, but she did have some allergy rash and some acne on her chin. Paisley's ears were really bad too and she got a cortisone shot for that as well as IBD which the vet thinks she has. It was quite a trick and chore to get them all into a carrier to transport them all. I've never had to take all 4 of them at the same time and seems that I need to get at least one more carrier. I have a big one that I put Casper and Corey in together. Once she found that Paisley had the mites, it was a matter of giving them all treatment. They each got a shot for that as well as medicine in their ears. Paisley also had her senior panel done - uninalysis and blood test. Luckily, I don't have to give them any kind of medicine, but I do have to take them back in 2 weeks for another ear check and we'll do all the vacinations that they need then with another does of the ear mite meds. Then they go back in another 2 weeks just for the final dose of mite meds. Sometime during that time or after the ear mites are cleared up I have to take Corey in for a dental visit. He has 2 teeth with cavities. That time I drop him off and pick him up after work. What a day! At least once the treatment is done, they all should be cleared up and well for awhile.

I also noticed last night that Casper was having tummy issues again. She also suggested that I change the wet food that he is getting in the morning because it is fish and his HA is made with chicken so she thinks that he might not be tolerating the fish food too well. I bought a can of 2 different kinds and will try one later today and the other one tomorrow and see if they like it. If so, then I'll go back on Saturday and get a case of whichever kind they like.

It was a very pretty meal, wasn't it Maxine? Enjoy your visit with your brother!

Yikes! Maggie, that must have been quite an ordeal with all four furry family members!

Barb, hi!
