This summer is just FLYING by! The appt with the breast specialist w/Katie went well. She told us the incidence of breast cancer in Asia is soooo low, they do not even do mammograms there. But, if there are any changes, she said Katie should go to the doc and Katie is close to Beijing, so should not have a problem with medical care if she needs it.

Katie is here for 2 more weeks- leaving for China on the 19th. She was in the city (Chicago) for the weekend and will be again this coming weekend. We had a dinner out with friends after work on Sat., and a cookout at a friends home on Sunday. It was great to see friends and to not have to cook 2 days in a row : )

Maxine- so sorry to hear about hubby's accident. I hope he is not in too much pain- ankles are so sensitive.

Oh Lynn- 50 is still alot- even if CAS! My neighbor asked me to help her out with a shower invite- we made a plan, I brayered ink on vellum and cut out some die cuts while we watched TV and gave them back to her to complete. Too busy to help assemble! I have attended her daughters shower- it was very nice!

Maggie- I have a once a month cleaning lady- glad you liked her- it is nice to have the entire house clean all in one day! Glad the dinner went well.

Kelly- how is that garden going? And, yeah for tax free shopping : ) Another Yippee for getting your car back!

Darlene- I hope you enjoyed getting inky! I would love to see pics of the wedding once you get them : )

Kristie- Fun to enjoy your team so much and sorry for the trades and all- do you think in the long run the team will be improved with the change in the roster? Wish I could SB like you- have China pictures on my table for ....months that turn into years : )

Jeanette- glad the trip was successful! You have been traveling so much- lots of miles across the world this year!!! Seeing some awesome scenery too I bet.

Barb- the trip sounds fab. SO sorry the big attractions were closed for you.

I am hoping in a few weeks life will settle down a bit and I will be back to my regular commenting on blogs- thanks for being patient with me this summer

Big news for the Technique Junkies- they will not be making newsletters any more after this year. She is talking about possibly having on-line classes and still will be making CD's...... I have been taking a little break and making plain old cards- but that is mostly due to time limitations- still fun though!

Hugs to all
Shelly
Hmm. . thought I responded to this yesterday, but I guess I didn't since I don't see anything here.

So glad that the Dr. appt. went well and hope she has a safe journey back to China.

Sounds like you have the same issue with Scrapbooking that I do. Have the photos, but they don't get done. Maybe soon. Just need to get organized.

Oh no! No more TJ Newletters???????? I was just looking through some of my older Newsletters the other night.

It is so nice to have someone else clean your house, but today I just bought a hardwood floor buffer. I love my wood, but they are not looking nice and shiny. I was told by a friend that I have to buff them. I got an online deal on the buffer, so I hope it is good. I'll have to do this myself and in small time frames since the furniture will have to be moved. I think I'll just do the living room, my bedroom, and the hallway. If I can get my stamp room picked up, then I'll do what I can reach, and the same in my storage room. No way is that stuff all going to get moved.

Shelly, summer has definitely gone by quickly. I hope you and Katie will make the most of these last two weeks. Praying that she has a great trip back to China........... and that the goodbyes won't be too painful.

Today our daughter is flying from Anchorage on a teeny tiny bush plane... to the village where she will be teaching this year. There are no road systems. She's excited about the adventure........... and hoping she'll get to sit in the co-pilot seat today. LOL! (Apparently, if they have enough travelers, someone is asked to sit there.) That's our adventurer!!!
Hope she has a safe trip back to her home away from home. That would be awesome if she got to sit up in the cockpit. In my much younger days, I wanted to learn to fly a plane - not so much anymore.

I was on Paper Playful last night and saw that I won a Top 3 over at Party Time Tuesday for my Amalia's Christmas Lights card. She's supposed to be sending me the link for the button to put on my blog.

Aw that's great Maggie!

I have the worst luck with winning challenges! I won last month at Marks Finest Paper new stamp release blog hop and still waiting. I followed the instructions. No reply, no stamps I posted on their blog. Emailed them three times. Still nothing. It's frustrating when I feel like I'm chasing them around when I should not have to, or not have a clue if they have even got all the messages

This makes the 3rd time I've "won" a challenge and chased around the sponsor.
It makes me sad

That's just all out WRONG!! A winner should never have to chase after the prize.

Kelly, I feel your pain with MFP. I won over there several months ago and went through the same exact thing. Finally I just gave up on the whole ordeal - and about a month later received the stamp set in the mail.........then the very next day received another one just like I received the previous day! LOL!!!! Don't know if the right hand is knowing what the left hand is doing over there. So frustrating.

Sounds like everyone is doing great. Just got caught up reading and but don't think I can remember how to respond to everyone! Let's see what I can come up with.....

Shelly, sorry Katie is having to go back but that's good on the doctor appointment here. Sounds like you've really been enjoying your time with her and staying busy.

Jeanette - yikes on your daughter! Know she's going to love it though as they say Alaska is so beautiful.

Maggie - great that the cleaning lady worked out. Always a plus if you ask me.

I know I've missed everyone else and responding here but trying to get something geared up to eat so better scoot!

That's terrible. I hope ou hear from them soon. I won from them some time ago, but don't remember how it went, but I have had issues with a couple challenge wins in the past. I'm persistent though and will keep after them until I get my prize.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Woo Hoo! Way to go, Maggie!

Kelly, Darlene's right... shouldn't have to track down prizes!

Barb, what way did you go?

Lynn, so far DD is really liking Alaska - of course, it's fairly warm there right now - and daylight hours are plentiful.

Hugs for mamas Shelly and Jeanette for their daughters venturing off to places to better the world! You are such strong women. I'd be a blubbering idiot - though I know they are meant to fly with the wings given to them ♥

Thanks for the encouragement on my rant - which I do humbly apologize for! It sounds like it's a trend with them, which is really sad -- customer service today is one of the crucial parts of a successful business. I can only hope for the best at this point, right!

Maggie, hugs to you and your dh, my friend!

Much to do today ... have a great day!

Default Hi

Hehehehe Yep Kelly!

Barb calling it North, South, East or West.....? My son went West, My daughter went West and forgot to stop.......all the way to China....

OK- silly me! Worked today, am working in the AM tomorrow, then have an EMG to see why my fingers are tingling, then haircut.....daughter is going to the city (Chicago) again for the weekend friends from college getting together : ) She is doing a Paleo diet- it is very expensive!

Oh, MFP used to be better, but I won one challenge that I never heard back....at all. I won again recently- want the set so I am going to -as Darlene says- be aggressive and like Maggie- be persistant!

How many invites will Lynn be making this time around? I don't know- it could be alot- Maggie has the work folks, the family, her church people, and then US!!!

Way to go with the win Maggie- Wahoo!!!

Jeanette- does your daughter say it is light 24 hrs a day? Any trouble sleeping? Yes- 2 boys for every girl there too : )

Kelly- how did the photographs for your daughter turn out? Did you have to get them re-taken?

Waving hello to all!

Shelly

LOL! Kelly is quite the matchmaker... but seems Lynn is sure cutting the guest list down.

Shelly, it looks like (according to my weather app) that DD's town has sunset at 11:30 pm and sunrise at 6:30 am... give or take a few minutes. Her bedroom has the blackout shades, so she slept fine last night. The principal at her school told her the locals will be interested in her as she is the youngest teacher in the school.... yes... men............ single ones.

So far, she's really enjoying getting to know the children. They've come to visit. She also went to her school today and looked around.......... and back to the village store too. She's getting things set up in her home - about finished with that. And then will set up her classroom.

Wow - I missed a day and a bit and you lot have talked up a storm - congratulations Maggie!! Aww Lynn don't pair down the guest list too much

Went to a craft show yesterday ( the annual one) and came home with stash, including Inka metallic rubs and chip board shapes - both of which I have never really worked with, but I did a make and take and came back inspired

DH is a bit steadier on the crutches but the cast is rubbing and he has been weight bearing when he shouldn't be and has cracked the cast under his foot - just hope he has done no damage!

Just you lot behave yourselves now

Whooooppppeeee - so excited. After trying for five years, since they came back to NZ, my son finally has a full time job in the area of his expertise - and here in our town - I am so excited. They will be moving in about 6 weeks, I think.

Now for our daughter to get the job she needs here - she and her family have been planning to move here for some months now, but she needs to get a job, and they are scarce.

Yikes! No DH for this girl! Not unless he looks like Robert Redford in his glory years and has a ton of $$$$$!

{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}} back and to all.

Just you lot behave yourselves now
Thanks Maxine!

Sounds like a fun day for you. Can't wait to see what you create with your new stash of toys.

Oh, I hope DH's foot is going to be okay. He really should listen to the doctors when they tell him what to do.

Behave??? I always behave.

Now for our daughter to get the job she needs here - she and her family have been planning to move here for some months now, but she needs to get a job, and they are scarce.
So glad to hear about DS's new job. That will be great to have him closer to you. Hope that DD can find one too. What is her area of speciality?

Maggie, so glad to hear you're eloping! Whew!!! No invites need to be made - and you can just let everyone know on FB after you've tied the knot! LOL!!!! Robert Redford!!!! Wowsers......I'll go for that one for sure!

Maxine, that's absolutely fantastic news about your son and his family!! YEA!! It's going to be so nice having them live close now and besides that I'm sure they'll be a big help to you. Tell that husband to take care of his foot!!! Sounds like you did good at the craft show! Another big yea!

Jeanette, sounds like your daughter is getting all set up now. How exciting for her. It WILL get cold up there though! She's going to be just fine and it's a great experience.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

WOW! Maggies marrying a Robert Redford lookalike! WOW!!!

Lynn, DD is having a great time...... last night she was able to get a free FRESH salmon. It was large - enough for several meals. And she cooked/ate part of it last night. She said it was yummy!

Me? Well, let's just say, I wouldn't know the first thing about cleaning/cutting/etc a fresh salmon.

She also bought a package of reindeer at the local tribal store yesterday - $17.

Me? No way! I would not be able to even think about eating reindeer - at any price. LOL!

Jeanette, your daughter is eating Rudolph! YIKES!!! LOL! Actually I image reindeer is similar in taste to a regular white tailed deer like me have here - and it is delicious! In fact, we had some a couple of nights ago. Very good! The salmon sounds good too. I have a feeling she's going to love living there. How long will she be there or is can she stay as long as she wants?

Just thought I'd pop in and tell everyone to have a great weekend!

Lynn, I don't eat ANY kind of deer. Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww!!!

She has a teaching contract for this year. And just like in the lower 48, school decides whether to offer you a contract for the next year - and you decide whether or not to accept it if they do.

So, time will tell.

Wow! That's great that she's so close to getting good fresh caught salmon. That is my favorite fish. Love it! I may have some tonight when I go out for dinner. No. RR look alike is NOT taking me.

I do love venison also - regular deer meat, not reindeer. I wonder if it tastes the same? My dad was a hunter when I was growing up and would go out and get a deer. Great to stock the freezer.

It's been a leisurely busy day today. We had a small storm come through a little while ago and bring us some much needed rain. I've been tinkering around the house, cleaning up and putting away. Went out and tidied up the garage and through some things out. Next weekend I'll tackle the laundry/workroom area out there. That's where I keep a lot of my by boxes of crafting supplies.

Speaking of which, I went and stopped by Hobby Lobby and Michaels today and picked up some stuff that was on sale. I did get some 6 x 6 paper pads that were not on sale, but I really liked them. And at Michael's I got a couple spiral notebooks for keeping track of my DT cards. I like to write down what I use for them as I go along so I'll know what to put on my blog. They were only $1.50 each.

Gotta go clean up to go have dinner. What was going to be my GF and me now is 3 GF's and me. They invited themselves, but what could I do. Couldn't say no.

Maggie, I think you mean you and 3 GF's and Robert -- don't forget him! ♥

I'm just going to stick my fingers in my ears and pretend I'm not hearing any stories about any of that eatin' or what is being eaten!

We spent the day outdoors in some the luscious gardens and oceanside - bliss! Took a ton of pictures, and came home to find them all mostly blurry! I think the camera chip was damaged at some point - luckily, we have the phones with back up pictures but I have dinner to get on the table and settlin' down to do.

Tomorrow we're heading to the Keys - oh, I can't wait. Countdown to school days!
MEH!

Maxine, hugs for your dh and I agree, stay off the foot and YAY for your son! That is the most wonderful news! In this day and age, jobs are so hard to find and secure -- if you find one, keep it if you can!

Hugs all around!

The salmon from Alaska is awesome! My roomie has a niece that lives in Cordova, on the south side of Alaska, by Valdez and Prince William Sound, and the mouth of the Copper River. There is a salmon called Copper River Red that is wonderful--and here in the lower 48 is around $25 a pound when you can find it. We have visited Erin twice--once in 2006 and again in 2011. We have brought frozen salmon back from there as one of our checked luggage--two 50# boxes the first time and one the second. We ran out last summer from what we had, so I ordered from one of fisheries in town and it only cost about $11 with shipping. They also have a fish called Black Cod that is soooooo yummy! And, we also had reindeer hot dogs when we were there!
