Good Afternoon Ladies. So, we are finally on vacation as roomie's conference is done and we have the next few days to play and explore the area. We have a rental car reserved tomorrow, so today is just a bit of staying around the resort. We played a bit of tennis--just hitting the ball around this morning--and it only lasted about 40 minutes as it was 104 at 10:00! We just had lunch and are sitting outside in the shade--and there is a bit of a breeze so it does not feel all of 109!!!!! We are headed to downtown Palm Springs tonight for VillageFest., It is held every Thursday night and there are vendors with arts, crafts, food and entertainment. We will take the bus down and back. Tomorrow we may head to Joshua Tree National Park--that is about an hour or so away. There is also a town called Pioneertown that is on the way-- the town was built in the 40's as n Olds West set by Roy Rogers and others as a place for the actors to live while shooting films. Sounds like a cool place to stop. We also have tickets for the aerial tram and will do that tomorrow or Saturday night as they say it is a great view to come down on one of the last trams of the evening.

Sounds like a whirlwind fun time! How was your trip to El Paseo?

She is not so confident in health care in China, and she will not have insurance when she gets back re: 26 in October...... so lets get 'er done!

Oh what a fast paced nutty weekend! Had a good visit with my parents. We visited with my eldest brother and his family- played some Bingo, took the youngest 2 back to school shoe shopping- what fun. Katie and I did some cleaning and Ray worked on some minor house projects and as always- helped Dad with reading some computer stuff......

I did not spend much time on the computer- took a nice break! I did make a card and blog it- I took my Copics to Ky so Mom could could color- she is an artist, so I enjoy watching the colors she chooses.

I will go back and read up and try to catch up- hoping all is well with everyone!

Shelly
That's great that your boss let you split your work time. Those visits are somewhat daunting even for grown ups. :(

Sounds like a nice restful weekend - well, except for the shoe shopping. I used to hate going shopping with my girls. Ugh!

YOu'll have to get your mom to make a card sometime. Would love to see her create something.

Bijou is not doing well either. Spent Monday at an Avian Vet with him. I am also giving him antibiotics 2x day...teeny tiny syringes...no needle but squirting it into his mouth. He's now discovered that it tastes good, LOL so he sort of cooperates We are guessing at what may be wrong...waiting for some blood work to come back. All of the initial screening is negative, so, just like you're experiencing Maggie, waiting and wondering what else to test for.
The wedding was simply wonderful!! My sister went home with the pictures on her cell phone, didn't have a chance to give them to me...I hope that she sends them to me soon...I can't believe how busy I was with wedding tasks, the Bride kept asking me for last minute help (her mom is the type who is always overwhelmed). Everything went off without a glitch though!

I have the house to myself now (my sister left yesterday) and besides laundry, I'm going to do some paper therapy today! Regain my sanity.

Hugs to all of you!
Maggie Mae is doing great right now. Today is the last day for eye meds, and then we'll see what happens going forward from here. Sorry to hear that Bijou is having health issues too. What's up with that? That guessing is crazy; made Maggie Mae sicker than she was to start with.

So happy that the wedding went off without a hitch. Can't wait to see some photos of the happy couple.

Hope you enjoy your alone time.

Darlene- so sorry to hear the bird is sick- and how do they draw blood from a bird??? I cannot picture that- but hope there will be quick improvement! Glad the wedding went well!

I heard from a cousin today re: family history- I love history so much- and have alot of desire to visit Germany and Ireland. This side is from Ireland- I have recently heard from a 2nd or 3rd cousin from Ireland, so will hook the two of them up as I have not time!

Off to the train

Have a great day

I have to put my hummingbird feeders back out. I was researching about when they migrate through the Houston area back down to Central America and they said that they usually start showing up in August so it's about time. I have 3 feeders and I hope that I get some to come visit this Fall.

Good question, I was wondering that too. Blood from a bird?

Glad that you are having fun and getting results with your Family History. I got a better interest in and appreciation of World History after I started researching my family. So interesting.

I just got around last night to visit everyone. Sorry it takes me so long to make the rounds.

Most--like 80% of the stores were closed. Some open again in September or October and others open only Fri-Sun. Kind of disappointing............

Oh, that's a bummer. You would think with it being Summer that a lot of people would be there touristing. Sounds like a place here that we go to every Thanksgiving that has limited schedules.

I think Palm Springs is not a summer destination. We are finding a few things closed for July and August. Seems that things start to ramp up in October and go to April or May. It is way too hot in the summer for many people here and they go someplace else for those months.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maggie, I'm glad you're here... love seeing your posts!

Barb, I guess the heat is enough to slow down traffic so they take a bit of time off. But that stinks for those of you who brave the heat and "come on down".

Waving at everyone else!

Hee hee, then you are ahead of me! I'm just sort of coasting through the days and it is what it is, as Lynn says. I try to keep up, but something has to give!

I love my babies and enjoy each and every moment with them

I'm happy to hear about your hummingbird feeders - that's almost ironic with all your cats! But I'm sure they are up high and the kitties are well behaved at your house

HI, all!

Hope y'all haven't kicked me out of here just yet!

Great that the wedding was beautiful Darlene. Barb, sounds like a whirlwind of activity and fun trip. Kelly, you're just enjoying all that wonderful Florida weather - and enjoy the kids while you can. Was that REALLY your own Key Lime tree I saw on FB! WOW! Maggie, glad the other Maggie is better now. Shelly.......don't remember what you wrote - or anyone else for that matter but guess everyone is doing great!

Got the 50 bridal shower invites all finished except for the insert that goes inside the card. Will get those printed out, cut down, and glued along the fold tomorrow. I'm so sick of those things I could scream!!!!!!!!! Talk about boring!!!! Unreal! I'm not even sure I know how to make another type of card right now. Worked all day yesterday and then again today. Whew! Tired!!!

Hello Ladies! We did not go to VillageFest last night as it would have been an hour and half bus ride--so we just hung out at the hotel and ordered pizza! This morning, we got our rental car and headed to Joshua Tree. What a stunning National Park--quite the land formations--beautiful and serene............... We did go to Pioneertown and ate at a place called Pappy & Harriet's--an old fashion restaurant. Food was great! Tomorrow we leave this resort and check into a hotel close to the airport as our flight is 7:30 Sunday morning. We will ding around Palm Springs tomorrow and also go on the aerial tram. I am not sure when I will check in again, so have a great weekend!

Oh, thanks Jeanette; you're too sweet. I love being here and seeing everyone's posts and what they are up to. It's been crazy busy at work and the boss has been in every day in his office. It will be nice next week when he goes out of town for 4 days to a seminar. Hopefully I'll be able to caught up on filing and closing files. Been a busy week in the evenings too.

Went to an open house last night, another one tonight and the kids are coming for dinner tomorrow night!!!!!!!

I've got a new cleaning lady here today. She came 2 hours early, but she called me first to see if it was alright. I had just gotten home from the grocery store, so it worked out great and she only lives about 10-15 minutes from my house!!! I sure hope she works out and I can get her every month. She even said that she'd do things my way - like do my ceramic floors with my Shark Steam mop instead of just the swiffer. She seems very nice.

Open House - like a new home Open House or school?

I cannot believe the summer is over. I'm SO bummed! I love me my summer

But good news! I have my car back!!!!!!! After a year!!! Dh and BIL worked on it all week, and it's marvelous to have my Big Ruby back! ♥

Good luck with the cleaning lady -- as long as the kitties like her and approve, then she should be good, right! Or was that someone else that let one of them out of the house by accident, or he was under the bed the whole time ..... Corey maybe?

Hope everyone is doing good!! ♥

Darlene, I'm so happy that the wedding went well!
Maxine, glad your DH did well at his appt.
Lynn, I am sure you are glad to be almost done with those invites!

Hello to anyone I've missed! Not much going on here. Did get a little crafty today. It was a rough week with the baseball trades going on. I was obsessed with following the news. My team took a lot of big hits *sigh* So disappointed but it's supposed to be for the better...we will see next season I guess!

Whew!!! I'm done with those invitations - finally! Don't ever want to see a bridal shower invite as long as I live now. That business of mass production is not fun in any way shape or form - but at least I'll be paid for them and so that's always a bonus.

Sounds like everyone is doing great around here. Fun trips, fun summers, fun at the office (?), and just all sorts of neat things happening!

Oh goodness, Lynn - sounds like more frustration than fun! Yikes! So when do we get to see the Lynn originals!?

Rain here -- but we're heading out in a bit. We went to Saturday services which seems more lively and 'younger' which is good for the girls ~ my son like the morning Sunday school classes much better though so it's always a toss up, lol.

Back to school Tax-free shopping weekend, so we're off to find odds and ends!

*hugs!*

Good luck with the cleaning lady -- as long as the kitties like her and approve, then she should be good, right! Or was that someone else that let one of them out of the house by accident, or he was under the bed the whole time ..... Corey maybe?

Hope everyone is doing good!! ♥
Neither. Friday night we were saying goodbye to a Sister Missionary who had served in our Ward for about 6 month and is going home. Her parents and sister came here to pick her up and they wanted to meet some of us from our Ward, so we had a little get together (open house = coming and going) for them. Enjoyable time.

Last night a very good and dear friend of my family who fellowshipped us when we joined the Church had all her children, spouses, and grands home for the first time in many years if ever. My girls grew up with them and they were having a little get together (open house coming and going) so all their old friends could come and say hi to them, chat, meet the grands, etc. It was really nice.

Summer is over? I think we still have 3-4 more weeks yet.

Yeah! So glad you got your car back. I can't imagine having to be without mine.

The cleaning lady worked out just fine. All the kitties liked her, at least they didn't run and hide although Maggie Mae wanted to come sit on my lap most of the time. At least it wasn't like the last time when they had 4 people here all over the house with a lot of commotion. This time there was just one lady and she just worked her way from the bathrooms and my bedroom out the the kitchen/dining and computer room. It took her the whole 3 hours, but that's okay. I will most likely have her come back. Next time though I'll get her to use my products. Hers were okay, but I like mine and she knows how to use the Shark Steam Mop so I'll have her use it for my ceraminc floors.

Sounds like everyone is doing great around here. Fun trips, fun summers, fun at the office (?), and just all sorts of neat things happening!
I used to do lots of swaps and hate all the repetition. I'm in an ATC monthly swap and it's been 8 people, so I have to send out 7. That's about all I can handle.

That's great that you are done with the invitations and will make some $$ from it.

Hi there - I was going to pop in yesterday afternoon and post, but my plans were rather disrupted. Good to see you all and catch up.
Glad the wedding went well Darlene
Great to have a boss who will let you split shifts Shelly
Jeanette are you going to stay home for more than a few days soon?
Lynn - that was some marathon - I bet you are so glad it is over.!!
Kristie you sure manage to get a lot of cards and layouts made
Barb your trip sounds hot!! Pity about the closed attractions

My distraction yesterday afternoon was that DH missed a step and stumbled in church yesterday, twisting his foot as he went down - resulting in the afternoon spent at the local hospital ED, x-rays and the a back slab plaster for 10 days before a moon boot. He is non-weight-bearing and on crutches........ fun fun, fun!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Lynn, I'm glad the cleaning lady seemed to work out. Sorry the open house was a good bye to deal with.

Lynn, Kelly's right. We would love to see your original.

Kelly, yay for getting your car back!

Maxine, oh no! Sorry to hear of your DH's tumble and injury!

Darlene, I hope you enjoyed getting inky!

Barb, I think you're home now - welcome home!

Kristie, sorry your team had the disappointment - and you fans, too!

Our trip went well, and our daughter's flight did, too. And yes, I think I'm home for a while now.

Good Afternoon--Home Sweet Home! We did have an interesting day--a two hour delay leaving DFW, but all is well. I am on my 5th load of wash and trying to get everything else caught up too. Heading to the grocery store, then to the craft room to make a card for a DT--due tomorrow!

I hope you are having a great Monday!

It was me! Maggie that had the cleaning lady and the open house.

Glad to see you home again and that the flights went well. My boss took SWA to San Antonio this morning and it was 45 min. late leaving. He just can't catch a break anymore with these airlines.

Last night my kids came over for dinner and we had a great meal, some lovely conversation and then played a quick game of Bonkers! My DGD was not able to be with us. She's a working girl now and had to work the afternoon shift and didn't get off until 7:15. Mom took some dinner home for her. She had her wisdom teeth pulled last Wednesday and was having issues with eating, but I think she would have been able to eat what I made. I also sent some Ben & Jerry's home. That's what we had for dessert.

Oops - forgot to mention you last night Maggie - Glad to hear the meal with the family went well.

I was so tired that I forget to say that as a result of the missed step at church, DH had a double fracture in his left ankle - that's why he is in plaster etc.

Quick post as I'm just passing through on my way to bed.

Maxine, I'm so sorry about your husbands foot! Not fun in any way shape or form. I know it's just as hard on you as it is him and maybe even more so! Hang in there.

The bridal invitation will get posted Wednesday - if I can get my act together! Remember, it's very CAS since I was having to do so many of the crazy things.

No problem.

So sorry that the fall was worse than I had thought. Sounds like it will be awhile for recovery.

Default Hello

Happy Tuesday ladies!

This summer is just FLYING by! The appt with the breast specialist w/Katie went well. She told us the incidence of breast cancer in Asia is soooo low, they do not even do mammograms there. But, if there are any changes, she said Katie should go to the doc and Katie is close to Beijing, so should not have a problem with medical care if she needs it.

Katie is here for 2 more weeks- leaving for China on the 19th. She was in the city (Chicago) for the weekend and will be again this coming weekend. We had a dinner out with friends after work on Sat., and a cookout at a friends home on Sunday. It was great to see friends and to not have to cook 2 days in a row : )

Maxine- so sorry to hear about hubby's accident. I hope he is not in too much pain- ankles are so sensitive.

Oh Lynn- 50 is still alot- even if CAS! My neighbor asked me to help her out with a shower invite- we made a plan, I brayered ink on vellum and cut out some die cuts while we watched TV and gave them back to her to complete. Too busy to help assemble! I have attended her daughters shower- it was very nice!

Maggie- I have a once a month cleaning lady- glad you liked her- it is nice to have the entire house clean all in one day! Glad the dinner went well.

Kelly- how is that garden going? And, yeah for tax free shopping : ) Another Yippee for getting your car back!

Darlene- I hope you enjoyed getting inky! I would love to see pics of the wedding once you get them : )

Kristie- Fun to enjoy your team so much and sorry for the trades and all- do you think in the long run the team will be improved with the change in the roster? Wish I could SB like you- have China pictures on my table for ....months that turn into years : )

Jeanette- glad the trip was successful! You have been traveling so much- lots of miles across the world this year!!! Seeing some awesome scenery too I bet.

Barb- the trip sounds fab. SO sorry the big attractions were closed for you.

I am hoping in a few weeks life will settle down a bit and I will be back to my regular commenting on blogs- thanks for being patient with me this summer

Big news for the Technique Junkies- they will not be making newsletters any more after this year. She is talking about possibly having on-line classes and still will be making CD's...... I have been taking a little break and making plain old cards- but that is mostly due to time limitations- still fun though!

Hugs to all
Shelly

Default Hello

I forgot to add- if you use Copics, they are on sale now for $3.99 until the 11th...... at Carpe Diem- I ordered some last week when they were on sale for just one day and if you get over $35.00 free shipping. I caught the sale at the very end- hours to go, so did not mention it here, but this is a great discount!

Hugs
Shelly

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maxine, I am sorry your DH's tumble resulted in fracture/s. Gentle hugs for both of you and prayers for his healing!

Shelly, summer has definitely gone by quickly. I hope you and Katie will make the most of these last two weeks. Praying that she has a great trip back to China........... and that the goodbyes won't be too painful.

Today our daughter is flying from Anchorage on a teeny tiny bush plane... to the village where she will be teaching this year. There are no road systems. She's excited about the adventure........... and hoping she'll get to sit in the co-pilot seat today. LOL! (Apparently, if they have enough travelers, someone is asked to sit there.) That's our adventurer!!!

Morning friends!

Said a quick prayer for Brittney to have a safe journey to her new home! Hopefully she does get the co-pilot seat in the plane!

Maxine, added a prayer for healing on hubby's ankle. Not fun at all for either of you. Sorry to hear that it happened.

Shelly, sounds like you're getting lots of good time with DD before she leaves again. You feeling more relieved about her health care while away?

Lynn, I'm with you - no more wedding shower invites ever! LOL

Maggie, glad that the cleaning lady worked out for you. Your dinners/open houses sound like they were a great time!

Kristee, it's good to hear from you!

Barb: home sweet home, even if it does mean lots of laundry

Kelly, it seems way too early for your kids to be going back to school. Heavens, there is still all of August left! Nice to have your car back - FINALLY!

Everyone: I managed to score a couple of photos from others on FB. If you find me on FB Darlene LeTavec you can see them!
