Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Welcome to June!!! But where-oh-where did May go? It sure seemed to fly by quickly.

Kelly, how did things go at the specialist's yesterday? I hope well!

Shelly, what a touching ceremony - I hope you have kleenex with you! And what a wonderful picture of your mom!!!

Maxine, Tinker is gorgeous! I just know you two will bond well and be a joy to each other.

I spent part of yesterday cleaning out the extra room so we can have a new bed delivered as soon as it arrives. The store thought they would probably get it either yesterday or today I also made a card and did a Bible Journaling page. AND I am still reading the required reading for next week's training. I read 70 tedious pages yesterday of Book #2 and only have 190 pages to go. EEK! You know what I'll be doing today, don't you?

I also plan to play some with paper & ink. A girl can only read about poverty for so long before she needs a break.

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

Hello, hello everyone.

Maxine, Tinker is a GREAT name!!! Love the pictures of him, looks like a lot of spunk in that guy. I am glad that you have the companionship and the distraction.

Jeanette, WOW, that is a LOT of reading on what can be a tough subject. Good thing you will balance it out with some inky time.

Oh cuteness! Hi Tinker! What a smile - surely that IS a smile! He's going to be a wonderful companion, Maxine. I miss having kitties, but they are a no-no in our home. Enjoy him as much as he will love having your as his new 'mommy' ♥

Shelly, great picture! Mom also has an award winning smile. You are one busy lady - you and Barb, take the prize for the busiest and always on the go!! LOL!

Hi Darlene! Hi Jeanette!

Appointments are DONE. Specialists are all seen, regular doctors are all seen, and I am waving my flag of surrender - anyone needs to go anywhere else, I'll be at home! I'm so ready for summer, it's ridiculous

Waving to all!

This week will be a busy week to get ready for a two week vacation in Washington State as we leave early Saturday morning. Rebecca has a conference in Seattle for 4 days and then we head to Bainbridge Island, across the sound, for four nights to visit a former pastor. Then, back to Seattle, renting a car and head south to Long Beach, WA to stay in a B&B for two nights. Then, back home on Friday, the 16th, ready for a stamping day at Camp Stamp-in-Oga. Yes, a whirlwind of three weeks coming my way!
I bet the purple and yellow are beautiful together. Not sure when I'm going to get any planting done. I did get a new yard man yesterday! Yep, the other one is gone. I had some real issues about what he was not doing that he was supposed to be doing because I was paying him extra to do it and he wasn't. I finally wrote him a letter which he probably got on Tuesday and he cashed the check I sent him that same day (which he doesn't usually do) and he did not come yesterday to mow which was his usual day. I got on our local Nextdoor newsletter and found someone right away who was also recommended by a neighbor up the street from me. He's supposed to start today.

Oh my gosh! He's so adorable and LOVE his name! I'm trying to socialize my little hellion too. She still doesn't like to be petted much, but sometimes I can distract her and pet her a few times before she gets wise to it. Maybe someday. Little Corey has come a long way with letting me pet him, so there's hope.

JCI and catching up.

Got my final grade for the first module of my course. It was an A-. Should have been better, but I can't complain too much. All my content was spot on. The thing that got me was that I had not caught all my present tense verbage that should have been past tense for people who are dead. My research was good and my report was good.

This next module is dealing right now with Deeds and extracting information from them.

Saturday I need to visit a repository that has archival records that I can look at and then write a report on something.

Darlene, I agree... I read about 50 pages this morning, then ran to the store. The mattress delivery people are here right now, so I'm waiting for them to leave and then I'll get the extra room back in shape. Then it's back to reading. EEK!

Kelly, I'm glad all the doctor visits are complete for now. Keep the white flag handy though... you might need it again someday.

Maggie, congrats on the grade... I think it is a GREAT one! And I wish you well with the new yard man. The last one sure seemed to be less than desired.

Maggie - way to go on your grade! An A- is quite impressive. Be proud!

Hi Jeanette! What a cute puppy! I can't resist a cute puppy. Just can't. Probably why my stamp collection is overrun with puppy images, LOL! (just got 2 more this week, ay yi yi).

Another long weekend here -- movie date tonight (woohoo!), Scout project to clean up a church tomorrow (why do I get volunteered for these things?!), then my son has a sleepover/bday/pool party thing in the late afternoon, church on Sunday. I'm sure somewhere in there I'll get to sleep and make cards!

Waving to all!

Kelly, of course you love puppies! So... funny story. I stopped in at our local convenience store today and when I stepped out of my car, there on the ground was a "perfect" doggie treat - it hadn't been stepped on, driven over, or anything. Hmmmm... I thought to myself. If DD were here, she'd pick it up and find a puppy to give it to.

Hi Barb... you're just having fun on top of fun, aren't you?

The new one came yesterday. He did good. Did the trimming, mowing, blowing the patio clean and also trimmed my front hedges. The grass was a little longer than I like since I only have it down every other week. I messaged him on Nextdoor and asked if he could cut it shorter next time. Got a reply back, Yes m'am.

What a cute story? What did you do? Leave it there?

I do like doggies too although with 5 kitties, can't have a doggie. I do like visiting the ones that my friends and family have.

Good morning Stamp Addicts! I've got a free day today and plan to get some cards made and maybe, just maybe get the house cleaned up, but don't count on it.

I had planned to go downtown to the Public Library. Housed there is the Houston Metropolitan Research Center. I was told by those who know that it is the Repository for the archival documents that I want to look at. I've checked their website and found some documents that I want to look at for my Repository Visit Report. I thought it was due this month, but an announcement posted by one of the instructors said it wasn't due until the last module which will be in August, so I have time to get this done. Weather is supposed to be bad and there are some road closures that would interfere with my trip down there, so another reason to put it off.

I have been working on another report having to do with reading Deeds. It is amazing the amount of information that you can get from deeds. We had to read 6 deeds and make up a chart showing all the different information that they wanted. Then we had more deeds and probate records to look at that gave us more information to answer 6 questions. We had to reference the Book and Page the information was on, so we had to read all those documents to get the answers to all the questions.

I was reading ahead last night and one of the exercises (not graded) was a logic puzzle. I love logic puzzles, but I'm not very good at them. Not sure what that means in becoming a genealogist.

Happy SONday!

We are finally drying out from the torrential rain ~ it's been a monsoon here for days! Tough to drive in, that's for sure, even worse for the OUTDOOR Scout project!

Maggie - glad your lawn guy was so ........ courteous
Sounds like you are coming along nicely with the respository. You will be on first name basis before you know it! My good friend is knee deep in history and genealogy as well, but hers is for the Daughters of the American Revolution. Apparently you have to prove lineage like hundreds of years back, long before records were even around. And they are not allowed to used Ancestry.com, so that puts it at an even bigger disadvantage. I just say, you must enjoy the process to do the work!

Cute story, Jeanette! I just replenished the milkbone jar here yesterday - we just can't have that being empty! (keeps them out of my hair at convenient times!)

Barb - enjoy your vacation! I hope you and roomie have a super trip - always wanted to go there ♥

Waving to everyone!

Good evening. It's been a good day. I got around to blogs this morning and commented. I worked in my stamp room for a little bit until it was time to go to church.

Kelly, we had a monsoon this afternoon! We had some rain early this morning. I was glad we didn't have early church this year. It had cleared off by the time I had to leave the house, but then started up again about 2 PM. It was coming down in torrents! I managed to leave at 3:30 and it had died down to a sprinkle, but by then the roads were all flooded, the ditches were all full and I had to be careful where I was driving. I only had to turn around once and find a different way to get home and I did have to drive through a little bit of high water, but it wasn't up too high that I couldn't get through it. I did have to go in my neighborhood the back way. I live in the middle of the block and down to the left there is a cross street and it always floods real bad. The water had risen so it was midway between my house and the cross street. I never drive through the way, but if I come in from the opposite direction, it's not as flooded. I sure was happy to get home. It took me an extra 20 minutes.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maggie, YAY for the lawn guy! Sounds like he might be a keeper.

Kelly, nope, don't let that Milk Bone jar get empty. Not good... not at all.

Well, friends... I am leaving early tomorrow morning to drive to my training workshop. It's a few states away - so a bit of a drive. Then I will be well-trained. At least I hope so, because it is 4 long days of intensive training. If they can't train me in that amount of time, I might be a lost cause. LOL! So..... unless I pop back in here today, you won't see me again until next week.

Oh, and EXCITING news... DD arrives here on Friday (while I'm gone - but her dad and brother will be here)... she'll be here about 6 weeks, she thinks. YAY! I love it when she's here!

Hello from Seattle! We have has pretty good weather the past three days and it is perfect today. It is supposed to be even warmer tomorrow through Thursday, then typical rainy Seattle weather comes in for the weekend. We have done some exploring and I have spent some time every day in the Public Market. We went on the Seattle Great Wheel--a 175 foot tall Ferris wheel that goes out over the water--awesome views! Tomorrow I get to meet Kadie--YAY! She used to be on SCS often, before she became a mom!

Today is the day - daughter #3 being paroled - I mean, graduating - high school! I don't think I've ever met a kid more ready to graduate! It's at 8 pm tonight - wow, it will go on for hours! But, as they say, the show must go on and I'm so proud and excited for her!

(((( maxine )))))

Yikes Maggie - rain, rain, go away!

Waving!

Good Morning! Today is supposed to be a sunny and warm day, followed by 6 days is showers-when our "real" vacation begins. Dang! I had a great day yesterday---meeting Kadie and Andrew, shopping at Impress, and lunch with them too. Such a sweet lady and a wonderful little guy too! Later today we are going to take the monorail to the Space Needle and also do the Underground Tour.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday !!!!

Default Hellooooooo!

Waving hello to all! We landed in Tx last evening : ) We are a little north and east of Dallas. It is cozy here and mom is tired, but enjoying herself. The HS graduation ceremony is tonight. We are going to a restaurant prior to the ceremony, then to Dallas for ice cream. (I am allergic to milk, but may just have to try some anyway......).

We just ran over to Tuesday Morning : ) My husband wants to know why it is open- it is not Tuesday. I have a napkin swap for ATC's next month, and wanted to see if their stock here is different from those at home. Found a couple of different ones, and a few other things.....

I had a bust week- got trigger point shots in my neck yesterday- sore but feels better already : )

I made so many cards over the weekend and Monday in a few spare hours. 4 Grad cards (2 for Mom to give) for the nieces, and another for a neighbor who is having a party on Saturday- hope to catch the tail end of it- won;t get home until 10:30 though.....
Also, a card for a friend, and an ATC. Then, a COF card- that is on the blog and in the gallery... No time to post to the blog until later for the rest.

My Mom agreed to stay at my sisters Sat night We had a party-outdoors- and it was all afternoon and evening. It was 90 out on Saturday. My sister Eileen came and picked up Mom, and had arranged for her son to bring over the baby- he is 2-Aiden. My Mom was in heaven!!! She really enjoyed that. It was nice to wake up and have a break- we are here all alone! ahhhhhhh! Hubby has been working 14 hours a day, he needed a break. He was refreshed! The party was fun- all of hubby's siblings were there : ) We may have a new SIL soon- just waiting to hear he popped the question!!! (His wife left him a few years ago..... not sure how she will handle the news, but he has moved on!)

Maxine- you are n my thoughts and continued prayers!

Jeanette- safe travels!

Kelly- hope you get to read the book soon! So exciting to have your mini me all done with the graduation. I do not think I have ever seen Captain Underpants

Barb- love Seattle- have you ever heard of the Underground tour. I thought it was cool. Also, there is a White Birch forest we went hiking at there...and love Mt Reinier too! Oh, and the fresh Fish- Yummy!!!

Maggie- Congrats on the A- I think that is awesome!!! I love the history of looking back- so cool to imagine my GG-Grandparents driving in a covered wagon with everything they own from California to Illinois with babies in tow..... so wild!

Well, I had better go get ready for the graduation!

Good Morning--this is our last day in Seattle as we take the ferry to Bainbridge Island this afternoon. We will be there for four days and get to see a former minister and his wife! We are going to do the Underground Tour this morning. On Wednesday we took the monorail to the Space Needle and went to the top. I was at the 1962 World's Fair here, and I do remember vaguely both of those--yes, I am old! Chihuly has a fantastic glass exhibit in that area and it is stunning! It is a great city, even with the rain for the next few days..........................

Hi, JCI. It's been kind of busy at work this week which is good. I like to keep my boss busy. I've also been able to work a little on my project that is due on Sunday. I've hit a snag. I've been able to find all the information I need except for one and the instructor said it was the easiest one to find. I beg to disagree. I've been searching every day and have not found it, at least I don't think so. I've found 2 things that could be her, but it's not definite in my mind. I'm going to use it anyway and see where it gets me.

I did get some good news this week. My plan has been to work until June of next year when I have my 30th anniversary at work. Well, I just found out that my 30th anniversary is THIS year - next week on the 15th! I'm so excited but a little anxious also. This means that I can retire now at the end of this year after I get my Christmas bonus. There is so much to work out and think about before that. But no way am I going to stay after that for another 10 years.

Good Morning--Happy Sunday day without sun, yet............... We are on the island and it sure is beautiful. Tons of trees and many tall pines--really tall! We got a ride into the town yesterday morning with the owner of the house and had breakfast, then walked around a bit. We got groceries and some things at the farmers market and walked the 5+ miles back to the house. We stopped at the church where our former minister is and checked out the setting as Rebecca was going to sing and play guitar at their Saturday night service. We got an Uber ride back to the church and it was great to see Pastor Paul! Nice service and they had a potluck cookout afterwards. We stayed for a bit and then went with Paul to a restaurant where a duo was singing and one of the guys is the son of one of the church members. We met quite a few more members and one has offered to pick us up early this afternoon to take us to a great place for some hiking--even pick us back up when we call that we are done!. We were going to take the kayaks we can use out this morning, but a bit chilly and cloudy. We are truly on vacation now as we make plans as we go........ Tuesday we take the ferry back to Seattle, get our rental car and drive south to Long Beach, CA--right on the ocean too!

Good Monday morning all.
Barb you are having a wonderful holiday by the sound of your posts.
Kelly enjoy your well earned summer break
Maggie go for retirement - I can recommend it
Jeanette should be really wise by now and enlightening us all.
Darlene it's good to see you popping in and commenting
Lynn I pray you will have time to at least read the thread, even if you don't comment - I do that most days.
Let and Kristie, waving at you...
It's been cold and sunny here... I have been really busy with allsorts this past week, including buying and setting up a new phone!! Two trips to Hamilton - one for a nerve conduction test and one with family for shopping as well as all the other things that seem to take much longer than they used to.
The wee cat is well settled and bossy.
Church yesterday was hard as I was asked where my husband was from someone who had not heard.... Followed by a hymn that we had sung at the funeral...
I spent the afternoon in the studio and finally got one card made after a real battle - it really fought me. Then I designed and started on the task of thank you/acknowledgment cards
Waving to you all from Down Under.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Yes, I am home... and my brain survived the intense workout. That was a very intensive training! DD arrived while I was gone, so when I got home last night I got to hang out with her as well as my two guys. It was great! (They are all still sleeping right now.)

I've read the thread, but won't make many comments, since I've been gone so long.

(((HUGS))) for you especially, Maxine. I can imagine there are a lot of difficult moments, some of them triggered when you least expect them, too. I can say that I even still after many MANY years - and a happy life with my DH/kids - there are moments when I hear the funeral song of first DH and it will transport me back to that day. Other times I hear it, it doesn't do that. So the trigger is unexpected when it occurs.

Now, about "Bossy"... I like that you have your new companion!

Maggie, WOW! Retirement will be fabulous, I'm sure, whenever you decide to make it official!

Waving to everyone else! You know you are all very special to me, right?

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

I have a lot of thinking and figuring to do before the end of the year to see if I can make it happen!

Well, had a tough one today. My laptop #1 crashed on me. I took it to Best Buy after work and they are going to work on it. The Geek said he thought that it might be recoverable. I need to take my external hard drive by there tomorrow and they will put the information on that one before they clean it up and then back on the laptop. Hopefully it will be ready by Friday. I can;t access my class on this one. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see how I can get it on this computer too.

Good Evening! We've had a couple of nice days here on the island! We went to a great garden yesterday and also stopped at a winery. One of the ladies from the church we visited, drove us to the garden and walked with us for a bit before she left to visit a friend. She picked us up again and we stopped at a winery for a tasting--nice! We made supper at the house and our hosts asked us if we wanted to go out on their sailboat for a cruise at dusk--of course! Today we walked a couple of miles to The Great Forest and hiked a mile or so among the fantastic trees. Weather has been cloudy and will be for the next few days, but no rain, so that part is good. Off to Long Beach tomorrow!

Maxine, my friend... you're in my thoughts this morning - and prayers! (God nudged me awake and the first thought on my mind was you - which I took to mean God meant for me to pray for you, so I did and am.) I am asking God to provide for you exactly what you need today. I know your journey (a little) and I know it can be brutal. Hugs and much love sent your way!
