Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

I've read the thread to catch up but am not going to comment to each person since I have limited time this morning (before my first to two meetings today) and need to sort of rush through. I get home from that meeting for a couple of hours and then we three head out for the second meeting of the day. The good thing is Meeting #1 includes lunch and Meeting #2 includes supper... so no cooking today.

BUT... I do need to say two things!

Congratulations Maxine! It's always fun to win... I'm glad you did!

Shelly, I know Bible Journaling isn't for everyone. My prayer always is that when I post pictures of mine it doesn't offend those who think one shouldn't mark in their Bible. KWIM? But for me, it does bring me closer to God's Word, and I love that! Were you doing certification stuff for ESL or something else? I am a trained TCY leader here in Illinois - our convention does Literacy Missions which is ESL, TCY and ARW. That training is grueling! I hope you and Mom are resting up from all your busyness and sleepless night, too!

Good Morning--it is a Monday...................... I am feeling OK--not the best and coughing big time. I was to go to a birthday stamp-a-stack card class this morning but I am going to take a raincheck and go later this week. I have nothing planned for today, though I have a card I need to make and post tomorrow. I don't have much energy, but I think I can do one card! We did start five trays of flower seeds last night--petunias, gazania, geranium and coleus. They are under grow lights in the basement where they will stay until we take them to the greenhouse in the end of April-beginning of May. It is the start of spring!

I hope you have a good start to the new week!

Thank you for all your prayer support - we got home 4:00 p.m. - the stent is ok, but they have widened the top slightly as the surgeon felt that food was accumulating there and that may be the problem - gave us some other tips on coping too.... Long day, so lookong forward to a reasonable night tonight

Good Morning SCS Friends. I am feeling a bit better and did leave the house yesterday to run a few errands--including getting my free small cone at DQ for the first day of spring! I hope you have a great day!

Yesterday was a long day, but in the end a good day - the report came back that things were still in position, but he modified the top of the stent slightly to help prevent foods building up around it, and gave us some more hints on how to cope - so far so good.

Today has been really busy with both our offspring taking the day off work to spend time with DH as it is his birthday - his brother also called around, and my brother is calling in this evening....

Thank you all for your prayers and support.

Waving to you from down under

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Kelly, I honestly don't know how you keep up with yourself! jus' sayin'

Lynn, it's so good to see you! Yes, it was short, makes me wonder if you're hiding something. LOL! I really do hope "all is well"!

Darlene, WOW! You're here, too! YAY! Good to see you, dear friend!

Well, it's happening again... I'm leaving for the weekend. Well, in ministry life, the "weekend" as I refer to it is Friday/Saturday... so I'm leaving tomorrow morning and won't be home until bedtime on Saturday. Truthfully, I'm hoping this is a good trip. It's not my norm. I am going to the statewide Ministers' Wives Retreat. I wouldn't go except two young pastor's wives from our association are going - and I'm the one who gave them the information about it - so I think I need to be there. I hope it's a good retreat. Just so you know - not all Ministers' Wives Retreats are created equally.

Soooooo...... here are my wishes for you and your weekend...

I'll look forward to seeing you again on Monday - and at any point today that I might find a moment to sneak onto SCS.

Good Morning!

Fun plans here including stalking the mailman for a very late package that should have arrived last week! And mopping. And laundry. But that's every day

Tomorrow I'm heading to the salon for my birthday 'surprise' from my daughters - lol. One let it slip thinking the other had told me - haha. Funny girls. I'm going to chop my hair off. If I'm going to turn 50, I should go big or go home - that's my plan!

after school pick ups in a couple of hours from now, I'm heading to the middle school to do concessions for the drama dept. There is a matinee at 4 (the one I was hoping to see - 8th graders doing their version of beauty and the beast! - total fluke they had the same play at the beginning of the year as the movie - which is outstanding, by the way! LOVED it!) and one at night but little man has Boy Scouts. Running, running!

So I'll wave and send sunshine!

LOL! Not hiding anything Jeanette.......just laying low and am very quiet lately.

Kelly, that's a great idea to have the hair chopped! Much easier to take care of and you'll look as cute as a button.

Oh Barb, how wonderful to live close to Whipper Snapper! Bliss!

Darlene - great to "see" you too. Hang in there and someday everything will just fall into place on organization. At least that's what I keep telling myself!

We could use a few prayers here. Every time I went to post about this, I'd have to walk away from the computer. My DH has been having issues with his eyes since the fall due to his Type 1 diabetes. He started getting shots and laser treatments to stop the bleeding and prevent future bleeding. He hasn't been able to see out of his right eye well since mid-January and today had surgery to fix that. Surgery went very well, however they had to put a gas bubble in his eye to prevent the retina from detaching in a few spots. He has to keep his face down and tonight sleep on his right side. He is finding it very difficult to keep his head down.

We are expecting a blizzard tomorrow - anywhere from a foot to two feet along with crazy winds. So no follow up appointment tomorrow. The doctor will call us and I have to play nurse, take the bandage off and put 4 different drops in his eye - not sure how many times a day yet. Then Wednesday I can take him for a follow up, assuming we can get out. My mom and stepdad are going to come down and help me dig out. Mom is off this week so she sat with me at the hospital today. We were there from 10-3:30. I am so fortunate they are only up the street to help out.

Maxine - praying the doctors can get your DH fixed up with his stent. Hugs!
Kristie, how's your DH doing with his recovery? Sending up more prayers.

It has been a beautiful week. I was finally able to get across the street today for my walk. I've had 2 doctor appointments and my weigh in at WW this week so that cuts into my walking time. We're supposed to have rain tomorrow and we are hoping that it will wash away the Oak pollen that has been so heavy down here. Everyone is suffering from that.

Hope you got your package Kelly.

You'll have to post a pic of the new hairdo. That should be fun. I had about 2" cut off of mine 2 weeks ago. I was so surprised at how curly it was with being short - right below my ears. It seems to help keep the curl in when I use the hot iron and I don't have to curl it every day which is good for my hair.

Sounds like a fun afternoon.

My doctor appointment on Monday was to the dermatologist. I suffer from periodic eczema outbreaks, but can usually control them with a topical steroi or some Eucerin cream. I got a growth on my leg and thought it might be another outbreak, but it didn't react to the treatment like it normally does so decided to go have it checked out. She said it wasn't cancerous, but wanted to biopsy it and send to the lab, so she scraped it off. It wasn't that large - about 1/2 the size of a dime. Now I have a little hole in my leg and the treatment that I'm supposed to use on it, I'm also sensitive to. I have some cream called Rescue Cream that I"m putting on it with a band aid and hope that helps. I did get a call today saying that it was some kind of benign growth, but now I want to make another appointment and have her check out the rest of my body. I know I have all kinds of spots on my back.

My yard man came finally on Monday and cleaned out most of my flower beds, but he didn't trim the grapefruit trees or the rosebushes or clean out the bed where the gardenia bush is. There are all kinds of weeds and sunflowers growing up in there that need to be yanked out. I called and talked to him. Sometimes it's hard to understand his accent and I thought he said he was going to come back on Tuesday to finish it up, but I haven't seen him here yet. I can't get started on what I'm going to plant this year until everything is cleaned out.

I've been on a book-buying spree! I started with some books for book club and some extras I had read and heard about that sounded good, then I saw some Genealogy books that I thought would be helpful. I've started my first class at NGS - it's The Basics and I am finding out how much I don't know! LOL! My DD and I go to talking on Sunday about recipes so I got a couple of Vegan cook books. One is by Gweneth Paltrow and I'm anxious to look through that. Two of those are e-books, so they are on my kindle, but I haven't had time to look at them.

Also I got my order from SU today, only my room is such a mess with blocks and plastic containers and stuff that I don't have anywhere to put it, so I need to get busy on the organizing.

Default Hello

Hello to all!

We have had a busy week- more doc appts...for me too- my Asthma follow up- needs work since my virus. We have had crazy weather- 29 one day, 60 the next....it was chilly today- aka 20-30's (but was sunny this afternoon), but will have 70's tomorrow.

Mom has been very tired this week and her memory is a tad bit worse- not sue why...she has not bee feeling like she is not sleeping the greatest and is complaining about Day Care- the day is too long and it is boring. We changed her from 2 days- about 6 hours each day to three days-4 hours.

Jeanette- enjoy your lunch and dinner : ) Yes, my training day was ESL. Our church decided not to continue the ESL on Sundays- most of the clients also go to World Relief already, so I need to be trained with them to continue. We are one of the big World Relief sites in the states. The number of clients coming in is down by 50% with the travel ban/new admin.... Something about seeing how poor people are when I went to Cambodia and seeing how just a little english changed their lives changed me and made me want to do it : ) It is hard- takes alot of time to plan, but I really enjoy it.

Maxine- HUGS and Prayers to you! So glad to head procedure went OK and sounds like you have a revolving door there! I am hoping you are getting some help or relief for 'You' time so you do not get too exhausted!

Lynn- you are not hiding a thing? Does Jim know about all of your crafting items? Have you seen the FB posting where a lady says her husband has found her stash, and the guest room cover is pulled back...instead of a mattress, it is bins full of crafting 'stuff'. SO funny!
I have to say- I am trying to clean out the craft room, but still buy things on occasion....LOL I found a site where you can get dies straight from China- free shipping..... I was naughty..... but, so cheap! I may start making a few cards & tags for a store- I am SOOOO slow when I stamp!!!

(Oh, the die site is Aliexpress.com - dies are cheaper if you download the app and order on your phone, but are easier to view on your computer).

Barb- glad you are feeling better- that bug really kept you down!

Maggie- so crazy you are already cleaning up your yard and have blooming trees and flowers! How long does it take you to read the books you bought? I buy lots of books- have quite a free to read : ) Many 1/2 read.....LOL How are the cats getting along??? Oh, I went with my Mom to her last derm appt- made one for myself and had a body check- and 2 areas biopsied and many areas burned off. I really like the derm she goes to. Her excema was not too bad when she was younger- started a few years ago- gets crazy, and I work hard to get it under control- but she pics and scratches it (I would probably as well too)!

Kelly- fun for you to get a new do! What a blast for your kids to get together and plan such a fun outing! 50 is nifty : ) Are you still mopping there??? How was the kids BNTB show??? I want to see the show in the theater!

Kristi- fun pic of your nephew on FB and loved your card! Hope Hubby is improving!

Hi Darlene!!! I spoke with a guy (who lost his wife 3 yrs ago) about inviting my other friend (who lost her husband in October) to a grief support group. He told me it is too early- he said for himself- 3 years.... So, don't be too hard on your self and I hope you have support! I think personally, I would need to go to a group before 3 years passed.

Gotta get to bed!

Have a fab weekend to all!

Shelly

Heart

Hello all! I've read back just a bit to catch up.

Kristie, check in when you can, we're all sending prayers for you & hubby.

Kelly - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! DS & you share the same day, although 20 yrs apart! He turns 30 this year. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE???

Maggie, I sure hope that all of your spots are benign. Amanda used that Rescue Cream when she had a rather large mole removed from her neck. It did the trick.

Shelly, hoping that the new schedule is better for your Mom. Maybe when she gets used to it she wont find it as tiring? {fingers crossed}

I tried a grief support group for parents who lost adult children. That particular group made me feel WORSE. Those there were 2 or more years from the loss and still unable to function in life. It made me feel awful.

I think I'm ready to try a different group now...because I'm in a different place with the grieving process and just plain, straight up miss her. God graced me with the perfect therapist right at the start & she has helped me so much.

Those that have experienced this have told me that the 1st year is hard. But that the 2nd year is different, but harder still. I'm beginning to understand. I know that I can survive the loss now. And I'm getting accustomed to grief being a constant companion. Not always at the front and center, but always with me. Like an injury that you learn to live with. It's hard for me to describe.

Kristie: I totally get it that every time you tried to come here you had to leave & not post. So many times that first year, just coming here and connecting to the friendships made me sob. In gratitude, sadness and loneliness. But mostly gratitude for everyone's prayers, caring thoughts and just plain remembering that I existed out here!
So believe me when I tell you that we are all here for you
whenever you are ready for us!!!

Good Morning! It's FRIDAY! YAY!! LOL!!!

Today I heard two of my VERY favorite words ........ NO SCHOOL! It's a teacher's workday, grades are going in and we get the day off - yeah, buddy! My son has a movie/lunch outing with his 'squad' and then a party tonight at 8 pm - by then, I'm usually snoring! But at 12-13, and middle school, the kids start getting a little more grown and a little less baby *cry* Tomorrow, he's up at 7 am to help with an Eagle Scout project (this is literally his 5th one!) and I hope when it's his turn, years from now, he has a helping hand(s)! Even my weekends are spent driving around back and forth - hee hee!

Maggie - sounds like you have a lot going on but all ducks in a row, so to speak. The job, your hair cut, the flowers! How are the butterflies - do you still have them or they hatched and flew away? I am loving your kitties on Facebook ♥ I am an avid book reader but rarely buy them - I am my local libraries biggest fan! I was going to get a job there a few months ago, but dh nixed that idea ......... anyway, enjoy your books. I love the vegetarian lifestyle, but not sure I could go total vegan so kudos to your dgd! (as least I think that's who I remember being vegan ...)

Shel - You are the best! Your mom is lucky to have you. Loved your ATC with the beautiful fish - that really is your signature, the asian flair to your cards and ATCs. Have you seen the new Hero Arts Koi Fish and stamps and ink? gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! I saw that but didn't swoon until I saw Jennifer McGuire's cards ... oh la lah! ANd yes! Take yourself to BNTB movie if you can't find a date - it's THAT good!!

Lynn - good to see you peeking in! My Buddy and Buster send smooches to your Rambo for National Puppy Day! Our boys got a greenie to celebrate - haha.

Hugs to Kristi and her dh ............ hello to Jeanette as she goes to hang out with the minister wives *waving!* And extra hugs to Maxine as well!

Barb - can't keep up with you, sweet friend! You are always zooming and zipping - I think the only difference with us is that you aren't shuttling the kids in your backseat as you travel around, lol! I laid down the law with my 3rd kid and told her she will get her license by summer because the free ride is over. literally.

And for our sweet Darlene - the most hugs of all. I think it's wise and wonderful that you are listening to your heart and going with what your instinct tells you. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and say a prayer as I simply cannot fathom the depths of your grief. When I lost my dad - apples and oranges, I know, and not even remotely the same - I felt very alone in my grief. After awhile, my dh/kids/mom/family didn't know what else to do or say so they just sort of didn't and I felt as if the world moved on. Laughing, smiling, playing, and just doing what life was meant for them to do and there was me - just stuck. You, too, will get to where you need to be in your journey on your own time. Meanwhile, I'm so happy to hear you love your therapist! That's a great start right there - and the rest will come in due time. To quote you ... we will always be here and we love you!

Morning everyone!Kelly-How did the haircut go??? Curious minds want to see a pic!!!!!!

DIL is having an "Ultimate Dodge Ball" Party for DS' big 30th BDay. On trampolines. (apparently its a thing) I will be happily observing this event, LOL.

Having broken 3 ligaments in my ankle 9 yrs ago, and spending 9 mo of PT to recover the maximum movement possible, I have absolutely no interest in risking that again!

Takes place tonight up in Manchester, NH. I'll let you know how it goes. Should be a riot. Hopefully no one gets injured.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Oh how I've loved reading the chatter and the encouragement for one another this morning. You ladies have made my day even brighter than it already would have been! THANK YOU for being an amazing group of friends!

I had a busy - but good - weekend! I hope yours was good, too. Now I am heading out again. LOL! Mid-morning I'll be driving to our state convention city - 3 1/2 hours from my home. It's Board Meeting time - and I serve on our State Board of Directors. I am taking the minutes for this meeting, as our recording secretary has to be absent, so the president asked me to take the minutes. EEK! That is a BIG deal - I used to serve as an officer for our state convention (which is not the same thing as the Board of Directors; I know, it's confusing) - as Recording Secretary. I know how to do this, but it's still a bit nerve-wracking.

Wednesday/Thursday I will get those minutes typed up and sent off to our state convention (hopefully). They give us 2 weeks to get that done, but I like to have them finished while the meeting is fresh in my mind.

Then Friday/Saturday I'll be going to Chicago for our last of the 4 VBS Workshops. Sooooo... that's a long trip - about a 7-8 hour drive each way.

So, it looks like I'll be having a busy week! Don't be surprised if I'm pretty scarce here on SCS.

I also have a few more days of the 30-Day Coloring Challenge... it ends on March 30th. I am determined not to miss a day, so will have to do some serious juggling here.

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

Good Morning Ladies--It was a basketball-kind of weekend! I watched many men's and women's basketball games the past few days. The Badgers lost Friday night. It was an OK game--lots of missed free throws and a couple of mistakes in an overtime game cost them the win. We had rainy and cold weather and it is to stay around for the next few days too! I am headed to stamp class this morning and my own stamp room this afternoon--getting inky all day long!

Good Morning SCS Friends! Happy Tuesday! We are supposed to finally see the sun later today as I think has been 5 or more days of clouds! I do not have any plans outside of the house so that means stamping-all-day-long! Have a Great One!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Kelly, I hate that I wasn't here for your Birthday Party! I hope your day was marvelous!!!

Barb, I hope you enjoyed your day at home!

I'm home today... but today will mostly be spent typing up the minutes from the Board Meeting yesterday so I can email them to our state convention offices. I do have a very VERY rough set of notes. LOL!

My BIG news of the trip.... wait for it................. (okay, maybe this won't excite the rest of you, but my DH and I did a happy dance)........... I got 42 mpg yesterday! Woo Hoo! Hot Sauce is amazing. (The best I'd ever seen on her was in the mid-30's, but truthfully I probably hadn't checked it since the first month we had her and it takes a while to break her in.)

I hope you all have a marvelous day!!!

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

I have an appointment this morning for a mammo and then a stop at Costco for some groceries--then home to get inky again!

I was looking for Smoochy this morning, but I found a cute bear instead. I hope Jeanette is OK with this!

Shelly
Shelly, are you sure about that website. I tried it and it took me to a women's clothing site. No dies.

Did a little more work outside this past Saturday. I finished cleaning out the flower pots and dumped the dirt from them in my flower beds. I expected my yard guy to come back and finish cleaning out the bed where the gardenia is, trim the grapefruit trees and roses, but he hasn't shown up yet. If he doesn't by the weekend, and the weather is good, I'm planning to do that on Saturday. When I talked to him, I was under the impression that he was going to come back last week, but he didn't. Why is it that these guys always start out so great and then slack off from what they are wanting to do. Last year he tried to talk me into paying him more!!! I'm already paying more than other mowers charge and he's supposed to be cleaning out the beds when he comes which he doesn't always do. I may be looking for another service soon.

I have tons of books on my Kindle. I'm reading The Underground Railroad right now for our May book club. The time depends on how interested I am in the book.

LOL! the kitties are so funny. Petunia and Corey seem to be getting along better. He doesn't hiss at her anymore and will run around and chase each other, but her buddy is still Casper. Posted a photo on FB yesterday when I got home from work. I have a clothes basket in the hallway and she was running around chasing herself or maybe Corey and when she jumped in the basket, she must have hit the side because she flipped it and it fell over her so she was trapped inside. So funny!

My spot is healing up, but I still put Rescue Gel on it and cover with a band aid. I have some Clobex (topical steroid) for my eczema and also I use Eucerin cream on my spots after I shower and before I towel off. They both stop the itch and help dry up the spots.

Glad you had a little break last week from all your running around.

Butterflies all hatched before the Winter set it. I've cleaning out the flower beds and the hutch getting ready for a new season, but need to rethink how I'm going to work it. I had so many last year which I was happy about, but it was so much work and I don't want to devote that much time to it this year. I will be happy to have some, but not the hundreds that I had last year. I need to go to the store and figure out plants to buy this year.
