Hi all, quick after-work check in.

I leave in a few minutes for the gym (ahem - that I joined back in March). Yep. Never went.

Tonight I meet with a staffer who will evaluate me on all of the machines and make a workout plan for me. I know, I know. It will be good for me LOL. At least I can finally tell my therapist that I actually STARTED.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

I'm so glad to hear many of you watch the Olympics... you've got me covered (since I don't watch them at all).

Darlene, it's so good to see you! Continued prayers and encouragement heading your way and kudos for the start at the gym!

Barb, I'm envious of all the fun stores you have near you! I want to road trip, too. Alas, no time to do that right now... but I want to.

Maggie, your 30-year-old body is fabulous and I'm sure the test results will agree!

Maxine, yuk! Sorry about the weather and you needing to be out in it!

Kelly, I'm sure you're enjoying your trip!

Shelly, I'm glad your mom enjoyed her trip, too! How nice that she could do that. And look at you... my card-making hero!

Lynn, I hope you and your DH are doing well!

Waving to everyone else!

Well, ladies....... our trip was good. Now I'm home for just over a week. I do have 3 meetings during that time, but they are all here local, so that's good. I also need to make about 25 cards before we leave on vacation. I have 9 days. EEK!

Today is off to a good start... one load of linens washed, dried, and put away. Supper's in the Crockpot (I know, I don't usually cook on Wednesdays, but decided to make an exception this week since we've been gone two days.... and DH will leave tomorrow for two days.)

He will get home just in time Friday for us to travel up the road about 30 minutes to see ELVIS!!! I'm super excited about that. In fact, if he gets delayed, Brock and I will probably go without him.

Today I have work to do here at the house, tend to a couple of "business" calls... and work on some cards, too. What's everybody else up to?

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

Darlene- so nice to see you dropping in. Think of you often and keep you in prayers!

Hi Lynn, what are your favorite events when watching the Olympics?

Kelly- safe travels!

Maxine- your weather posts make me realize so soon we will have that darn weather.... : (

So sorry about your Aunt. I hope that she will have an easy passing. I remember a few years ago when my Dad's last sibling (sister) passed. It was strange to think that we were now the "older" generation.

Have a nice and safe trip with your mom.

The back comes and goes. I just have to be careful what I do. I'm still waiting to hear from the Orthopedist about scheduling the EMG. I've called 3 times in the last 2 weeks and have not gotten one reply. I'm thinking that I may go to the office on Monday when I'm off and find out what is going on. Glad you have some meds that will help you.

Dang it was so hot out today. I just came in from working on the butterflies. I put a bunch of plants in the hutch this morning and came home to find them eaten down to the stalks. I called the nursery from work to see how their supply was. I'm going to have to make a quick trip in the morning before I take off for Utah.

Between the Zika virus mosquitos and the deluge of rains we've been having, I'll be EXTRA glad to get out of Miami (more so than usual!)

Maggie - I'm jealous - 30 year old! I hope your blood tests all come out well.

Lynn - I love LOVE the Olympics and have watched on sporatically this year (loved the water polo between the USA and Spain today) due to time restraints. Hope you are feeling better.

Darlene - always a joy to see you stop in, and yes, prayers are always yours!

Shell - how wonderful you get to spend time with your mom ♥ You have really been card making up a storm!

Waving to Maxine, Kel, Kristi, Barb, Jeanette ........ hope I am not missing anyone. We return on Sunday so it will be awhile before I'm able to check in unless I can pop onto FB ♥

Hugs to all!
Hope you have a great trip Kelly. I'll be gone until Sunday also and I"m not planning to take my laptop with me. I don't think I'll have that much time to use it. I will have my kindle and smartphone, so that should keep me in touch somewhat.

Unfortunately, my bad cholesterol was a little elevated. I'm not really surprised because I quit eating as much oatmeal as I had been eating before, so I need to step up watching my diet and get more exercise. He said he would recheck it in 6 weeks.

Hi there - yes I am still in the land of the living, and no, we did not get any snow, but it was cold enough - the weekend was bitter! This week has been dry and sunny, and started with a -4.3 oC (24.2 oF) frost on Monday - at least the washing gets dry as there is a breeze.

It been great to see Darlene here - I was aware that the anniversary of Amanda's fall was this month Darlene - hugs and prayers.

Shelly you really are rocking the cards - it's been wonderful to watch as you have blogged them

Jeanette good to see you popping in again, and that your travels were safe.

Barb you too are one busy lady - I am amazed at how much you accomplish

Kelly I trust all goes well for you on the trip - enjoy it! So special to have the family all together for it too.

Maggie well done on the BP - bit of a downer on the cholesterol levels - I have just had a whole series of blood tests done and my cholesterol is good - thankfully. I also eat oats and also use oat bran in my breakfast cereal mix. Safe travel for you too this weekend.

Waving and hugs to Kel and Kristie

Monday we were up to Waikato Hospital (Hamilton) for DH - got a good specialist that gave him choices and control, having laid out the pros and cons of several tests. Waiting now for a CT scan appointment.

Tuesday we were both at the GP - DH has some more lesions to be treated, one of which needs excision. I have yet another sinus infection - or it may just be a continuation of the original.... not a happy camper as I wanted to get out and finish pruning the roses today, but the wind is too cold for my face to handle.

Today it was to the Audiology clinic for DH to have his hearing reassessed... and so it goes at the moment. No stamping, and very little blogging as I am having issues with getting my computer to read the external hard drive.

Sunday evening we had a phone call from DH's brother to say his wife has metastatic Breast cancer - what a shock as the original cancer was years ago (over 10yrs), and the lesion they have found is in her back

Waving to you from down under

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maggie, I didn't realize you're heading to Utah soon... have a great trip!

Maxine, I'm sorry to hear of your SisIL's health situation... and your continuing sickness, too. (((HUGS)))
We have a picnic at lunchtime - our association is having it - and then DH leaves for his out-of-town trip. He'll be home tomorrow evening. I plan to make cards this afternoon and evening. YAY!

Hello dear friends.

Maxine, I'm sorry to be so behind, but want you to know that I will be saying prayers especially for health issues for you and DH. I didn't know!

Maggie, bless you! Still doing little miracles for our Monarchs? <heart>

Lynn, how is DH's health doing? I think of you whenever I try to use my stamp area now - my room is also serving as a laundry (dirty & clean) holding area while I'm moving things around up & down stairs these days.

I don't mean to slight anyone not mentioned specifically above - It's almost my bedtime, lol - my day began shortly after 4 AM today and I'm fading fast.

Peace & hugs to all of you. Remember that even if you dont know it - you touch other lives and make them better.

It's here! It's here!
Aren't you glad???

Barb, you're looking good! (I need a haircut... I should have gone with you.)

Darlene, it's so good to see you again! YAY! Moving things around is quite a chore... I hope it's going well.

Well, I managed to make 11 cards yesterday - my total for the past two days is 15........... 10 more to go in a week. I think I can do it.

Yep, you know what I'll be doing today.

It is here!

It is going to be a fun weekend at our house. Roomie's sister from Chicago is taking the train up along with her grandson Arlyn. I am picking them up mid-day and then we will stop at Miller Park--home of the Brewers--for lunch at Fridays. Tomorrow we are all heading to Old World Wisconsin, a site that recreates working farms and settlements of the European immigrants in the Midwest 1800's. I have not been there for years and it is such a cool place. Aben and Simone, Arlyn's dad and sister are driving up tomorrow afternoon and mom Kathy, is driving over from Madison, as she has been working there the past few weeks at a trial. So, we will have a houseful tomorrow and Sunday!!!!!

Have a Fantastic Friday and a Wonderful Weekend!

Maggie, I think the only thing about me that would resemble a 30 year old would be my little toe! That's great that you got a good report and keep up the good work.
I've been down in the back once again but this time I behaved and just stayed in bed or the recliner. Getting better every day now so I'm not as grumpy about it all. Just have to start behaving a little better I guess.
I don't know if I could ever pick a favorite sport in the Olympics since I love all of it. Not so much the winter sports but love the summer ones. I'd probably have to go with swimming and diving. Only because back in the younger (much younger) days I was in a slew of competitions for those - and yes, even won! I was a water rat I guess and taught swimming, canoeing, sailing, etc. Probably in the water more than I was out.
Sounds like everyone is so busy once again. Shelly, that's great that you got so many cards made! What does everyone do with the cards they make anyway?

Hey Darlene, nothing serious at all going on. The old back cratered several weeks ago, got better, and then out again this week. Ugh! I just don't behave myself and think I'm some type of superwoman sometime and there it goes. LOL! I really think the last year has finally caught up with me taking care of Jim and now my body is screaming to stop and slow down a little. Some days it's really hard to do that and I don't even have a choice in the matter. Slowly but surely, I'm learning. I think this must have been my wake up call.
Hope all is good with you! I read somewhere you were going to the gym! That's great!!!!

Lynn,Sorry about your back-not fun at all. I get it about not recognizing physical limits. It catches up with me too. Like when I shovel snow for 2-3 hours w/o a break. Gads. Then I wonder why I'm sore the next day.

About the gym...I need to force myself. Goal is to go there 3x week. Starting next week hahaha

Ouch, Lynn... and gentle hugs!

ummmmmmmm... Darlene, I don't think anyone should shovel snow for 2-3 hours without a break. I'm just sayin.

Darlene, no need to go to the gym...........just shovel snow! Yikes! I can't even imagine having to do that. We don't ever have to worry about it down this way though thank goodness. Right now, just trying to beat the heat. It was 103 when I looked a few minutes ago. I NEED A SWIMMING POOL!

Oh Lynn - you take care there, y'hear - backs don't like being abused!!

Darlene that is not something I have ever done, shovel snow. I do dig my garden though, but I have learnt to pace myself now - it's either that or my body swears at me!

I have not done much walking this week as the face is still being a pain - literally. I did get out to the studio yesterday and enjoyed myself. Today will be mainly spent on the computer as I have screeds of minutes to type up....

Waving hi to everyone, and hope you all have a good weekend - it's wet here so far, but supposed to be clearing later on.

Default Hi!

It has been a HOT and HUMID week here. Temps in the 90's and very humid. It rained yesterday which cools off the air.

Just got word that my Aunt passed away last night. Funeral Monday in Omaha, wake Sunday evening. Flights are very expensive..... It is 7 hours or so to drive.

Mom is delightful, but it is amazing how little she remembers. And, other times, she remembers things that amaze me! I enjoy having her around- we are very alike in interests (artsy and all, and religious). We are working on a 1000 piece puzzle and she is coloring pages in a coloring book.

Lynn- take care of your back! I was always in the pool as well- and was on a swim team. LOVE to watch the swimmers and the gymnastics. I also love the sand volleyball- what an athlete you have to be to play that! Crazy to see that young kid from Singapore beat Phelps, and crazier to see the picture of them together in Beijing where he was just a wee tot.......

Maxine - brrrrr and who shovels your snow??? I have done that- its alot of work. Cannot do it now, with my back and neck issues.

Waving hello to Darlene : ) Glad to see you dropping in!

Barb- you sure live life!!! Sounds like a great weekend!

Jeanette- enjoy your break at home! Wowza- that is alot of cards to create!

Congrats Kristie for winning over at Mojo Monday!

Waving hello to all. Have a fab weekend!

Shelly

Sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing Shelly. {{{{{Hugs}}}} .

If we get snow here it rarely sits for any length of time, generally it melts as it lands. Thankfully.

Congratulations on your win Kristie.

While I remember - someone asked what do we do with the cards we make - a lot of mine are commissioned, I have one regular customer and several casual ones, and I also sell a few through a shop in town.
Then of course there are the ones I use for our family and friends

I got two made this afternoon - masculine and all!!

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maxine, that's great that you have an outlet for selling your cards... and do commissioned ones, too!

Well, it's Monday.......... AND we are in a flood warning (it's rained pretty constantly the past two days and is to continue to rain today and tomorrow), so it may be a wild Monday. My phone keeps buzzing with all the warnings. Yikes! I hope people around here don't take risks on some of our low-lying back-roads.

I wish I could just stay home, but alas, I must run errands today. We have our new pastor moving in tomorrow (the church my DH pastored before becoming DoM)... and I'm to make sandwiches for the moving crew and pastor's family lunch tomorrow... so a trip to the store is essential, as well as a PO run. Maybe I can time those things between downpours.

What's everybody else up to today?

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

Shelly, hugs and sympathy for you and your family on the passing of your aunt. Glad to hear that you are having a good visit with your mother.

We are also in a hot, hot spell. Not so bad today but "triple H" weather (hazy, hot & humid) returns soon. Last week we had temps in upper 90's, very high humidity making the heat index dangerously high.

Saturday a group of us from church helped our new pastor & family move to their new home. Brutally hot, but we were all careful to hydrate...Glad that's done!

Hoping all of you are doing well, prayers for each of your needs offered.

Hi, I'm finally home. Well, I got home early last evening. Plane landed at 3 yesterday and then when I got to my car I had a flat tire. I was at The Parking Spot location so I asked one of the shuttle drivers to get someone to help me. They sent a woman with a big air compressor who filled up my tire. So I made a trip to Discount Tire this morning and they were able to fix it. I could feel the nail in it yesterday on the bottom of the tire, so I figured they could just plug it. I was surprised that they did it for free.

The trip was really good. My DGD did an amazing job in the show. They all did. It was really fun. The theater is small (in the round), so we could see everything very well. I was so surprised at how well they did the set with such a small space to work in, but they managed. The costume changes were the big thing. I think mostly the actresses that were changing for different scenes. Sometimes they only had 20-30 seconds to make a costume change. The longest she has was 2 minutes. They have costumes and wigs that need to be changed.

Thursday night when we got in we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner.

Friday we had lunch plans with my DGD. We went to a little taco place close by her house and the food was surprisingly good. Then stopped by a frozen yogurt place. So yummy. I had them add hot fudge and raspberries to mine. That night we met my other DGD and her DH for dinner before the show. At Zuppa's. Neither my DD nor I were very hungry since we had had a late lunch.

Saturday we went out
. to see the other DGD's new place they are renting. It is way up in the mountains. In fact they don't have a back yard, it is the mountain. Beautiful view from there. We went by Cafe Rio's on the way and got lunch and took it to their house. I had a pulled pork salad, but it was huge! Very good though. We hung around there watching the Olympics until it was time to leave to go to Sundance to see The Music Man. They also had dinner before the show there - BBQ. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with some slaw and a little potato salad. I was not very hungry then either after that big salad. The show was really good. It is a small outdoor theater and I thought we were going to freeze to death! It got so cold up in the mountains. I had a little jacket, but not enough to really keep me warm. It was an adventure getting up there. First you had to drive up to the top and park, then they had a shuttle that took you down to where you got on this big wagon with seats pulled by a tractor that took you up to where the theater was. Then reverse to go back to your car after the show which took forever since everyone was leaving at the same time. It was another late night.

We left the hotel in the morning at 9 for the airport. Ugh! The flight was terrible. I had a screaming baby in the row behind me and that child screamed and cried the whole trip back.

Waving to you from down under
Maxine, hope you and DH are doing okay after all those doctor visits.

So sorry about your SIL. That is sad. I have a friend whose wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer after going into remission over 5 years ago. It has spread throughout her body now. Their youngest child is 14 (a boy). It's pretty certain that this is going to be the end stage. I feel so bad for him and their family.

Maggie, bless you! Still doing little miracles for our Monarchs?

Lynn, how is DH's health doing? I think of you whenever I try to use my stamp area now - my room is also serving as a laundry (dirty & clean) holding area while I'm moving things around up & down stairs these days.

I don't mean to slight anyone not mentioned specifically above - It's almost my bedtime, lol - my day began shortly after 4 AM today and I'm fading fast.

Peace & hugs to all of you. Remember that even if you dont know it - you touch other lives and make them better.
It's a rainy day here. I am hoping that it clears off some so I can do some work outside with my milkweed plants. I wish I could do a miracle for my little creatures today.

I was totally devastated when I came home yesterday. After checking on my outside kitties (who acted like they had never seen me before) I went to check on my caterpillars/butterflies. When I left on Thursday I had transferred at least 15 if not a few more from the stalks that they had eaten down to new plants that I had just gotten that morning from the nursery that I've purchased most of my milkweed from. Well, ALL the caterpillars had died. A few were just dead in the pot or on the bottom of the hutch, but most were hanging from the top of the hutch, just straight down which they don't do. They are usually in the shape of a J. Then there were some that had started the change, but died in the middle of it and a few that were almost done the change, but their chrysalis wasn't complete or malformed. I took the six plants out of the hutch. There were no caterpillars on any of them. I had looked at my garden plants and saw about 7-8 babies, so I had to take a few of the plants that I'm regrowing, clean the aphids off them and put them in the hutch with the babies and hope that they will be okay. This morning I went over to the nursery. They manager was in a staff meeting so I couldn't talk to him, but I told the workers that were around what had happened and gave them my name and phone number, but haven't heard anything from them as yet. I went by the other nursery that I use, but they are closed on Mondays. I have to give those 10 plants a good hard cleaning before using them again.

I still have not heard from the nursery where I bought the plants.

Maggie, I hit the "Like" button, but mostly for all the good parts of your trip. Not the flat tire or screaming baby on the flight. Those call for a "Dislike" button!

Sounds like a wonderful time!

Wow! That's fantastic that you did water sport competitions when you were younger. I took all kinds of lessons and made my way up to Water Safety Instructor, but never really got a chance to use it.

I like the water sports and gymnastics for the Summer Olympics. I also like the skating and skiing in the Winter Olympics and the bobsled and luge racing.

Sorry you're still having back issues. I hope you get that cleared up soon.

Shelly
So sorry about your Aunt Shelly. I know you were expecting it, but it's still a shock and a sad time. I hope you can all celebrate her life today at the funeral service.

Glad that you are able to enjoy being with your mom and that she is still able to enjoy her life with puzzles and crafts.

Cool that you were also a swimmer in your youth.

Congrats Kristie! Amazing!

I have not heard anything from the nursery yet even though ai left my name and phone numbers for the manager. I'm pretty sure it had to be some sort of pesticide since it killed all of my caterpillars. They don't usually get treated plants in and if they do, they will tell you or they will quarantine them for a number of days before selling them. I've actually gotten some that were in quarantine that were fine. They did not say that these were in quarantine or anything so they were supposed to be pesticide free.

I did not sleep all that well while I was gone. I think the first night I may have gotten about 3-4 hours. Work up at 2:15 and could not get back to sleep at all. I don't nap, so I was up all day until after the musical that night which was late. They other 2 nights I slept better, but was awake a couple times.

I went to bed early last night after chatting with a GF and was able to sleep through the night without getting up once. I don't look forward to going back to work tomorrow. I really wish that I could just quit and stay at retire, but I have to get that car paid off first.
