I, too, have heard that this is a dying art. Many LSS's have closed, as well as smaller online stamp stores and companies. I suspect the ones that will be around the longest will be huge conglomerates like SU!

LOL on the "little man" = he's already my height (I was wearing 3" heels!) At just 11, we are eye to eye ........ can't imagine he will have much of my slight stature by the time he's grown up

LYNN! Bless your heart - that sounds painful! Speedy recovery, my friend - I hope you heal nicely and Rambo takes it easy on you at play/romp around time

Our Book Club met up again this week - we met up at The Corner Bakery (not sure if that is local or a chain - but YUM on the salads!) We are reading Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson - not sure it's a book club style book but it's FABULOUS on it's own as a read ........ so far, thumbs up! The problem I have with our book club is that I am a speed reader and plow through a book and can't stop and go chapter by chapter - ugh, it's just excrutiating to pace myself!

Speaking of hilarious, one of the ladies told me about another book (the title is a bit ............ harsh!) but she said she thought of me and 'those cards you make" because there is a section on scrapbookers and paper crafters, LOL! She's like "you ladies are insane ......."

Here it is: Robot Check

SO there you go, we're insane!

Scattering hugs!
LOL on the book. That sounds like a great one. Need to check it out. Maybe for our Book Group. We're reading A Spool of Blue Thread this month. I think it's okay. Trying to figure out just what it's all about.

Wow... won't be long until little man is taller than you are. I remember when my nephew "outgrew" my mom... she said, "Darrell, I look up to you now." His quick-witted response was "Grandma, you should have been looking up to me all along."
Speaking of tall boys, my 17 yo DGS is 6'3" at least! He's a tall bean pole. Taller than anyone else in the family. Not sure where that came from.

Yes Jeanette we are still harvesting beans, peas (last lot picked now) zucchini, tomatoes are just ripening. as are the sweet corn.... I have taken the first fruits off the broccoli, and now the side shoots are growing, and the cabbages are huge!! Will be pick rhubarb today

Hugs to you Lynn - gentle ones I might add! Praying the healing is on track.

Barb you sound one busy lady - hope the inky-ness continues today.

Maggie it's so sad to hear supplies are tightening - I have no local supplier - there are a few art supplies around, but no real stamping/card making/scrapping stuff! The worst is have to send overseas for stuff......... with the low $$ and frieght is is a killer.

I have also been in the studio (hiding there with the air con on) and creating a storm, trying to get ahead before my arm is immobilized, although I am still waiting to hear when surgery will be....

Waving to you all - Kristie and Kel I hope all is well with you...
Even thought I have Michael's and HL near me, I buy most of my stuff online. It's great though that you have people to stamp with. That is what I miss. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people here in H Town that do card making or scrapbooking anymore. No stamp groups and people that I know are not that interested either.

I have done quite a few digital photo books in the last few years--very easy to do for vacations and things like that since all of the pictures are digital anyway. I also make the digital calendars every year. I do have quite a bit of traditional supplies and like to do that too.

Yes, and Aloe Vera. I think that the scar reducer oil has Vit E in it.

Wow! What a long day and mostly sitting. Ugh! I'm tired. My DD & SIL picked me up at 9. We got to the nursing home about 11 and then got everyone together that we needed to get the paperwork done. Got that all done and then went by Subway and picked up sandwiches on the way to my DD's FIL's house where we ate. She helped him to go through bills that he wanted to put online. One of his friends stopped by and we sat and chatted for awhile and then headed over to my niece's place on the Lake. Enjoyed a visit with her and her DH and DS and 2 of their 3 dogs. One dog is not too friendly with strangers so he had to stay locked up in one of the rooms. Left there about 3 and got home to my house about 5:15. We did make a stop on the way up and back for a potty break and to pick up a snack. So glad I don't have to make that trip too often. My DD's MIL did look a lot better than I thought she was going to. Her FIL has lost a lot of weight. This sure has taken a toll on him. We hope that now he doesn't have to be up and down all night that he'll be able to sleep better and eat better. When we left the nursing home, he said he wasn't hungry for lunch, but I told the kids that if he had the food in front of him, he'd eat it and he did eat his whole 6" sandwich.

Now to go get a shower and grab a salad for my dinner.

Default Hello

Happy Sunday to all. I am so happy to say the party we threw for my SIL for her 70th B-day with all of the siblings went very well. There were 7 of us total. They arrived starting at 3:30 and left at 11:00 AM this AM. Hubby put a tenderloin on the grill, and we made sides to go with it....mmmmmm!

I am finally feeling better- the chest coughing cleared up Wednesday and I am way less stuffy today- finally. Hoping everyone of you is staying well in this cold/flu season : )

I try to make Blog rounds each Sunday, so will be hopping tonight to be inspired by all of you : )

If any of you are into Chinese New Year....Michael Strong has a freebie of a monkey for 2016- which is the year of the Monkey.....on his blog. I am just printing them out today, will create sometime this week : )

Maggie- yes, folks are alone. The keep firing all of the help we get- this time I think they know they need a little more help..... Mom is exhausted!
SO sad about BG- they have such nice papers..... So sorry about your daughters MIL....

Barb- the stamp weekend sounds like it was delightful!

Maxine- stay cool !!! I have to say, high humidity makes me feel so awful!!! I do know once the rain comes, it makes the flowers beautiful and the veg's grow AND, it cools down the air..... Is your wrist giving you much trouble (while you are waiting for surgery).

Kelly- fab pics of your son- you must be so proud! Glad the audition went well for him- that is awesome!

Lynn- I missed what you did with your nose...... Hope you have speedy healing. Thats a dang lots of stitches! Was it a MOHS procedure? Yes, so sad about BG. I did not hear about papercrafting going down at Michaels- but did notice how much less papers they had in Joann when I was there about a week ago. I often wonder how the stamp companies can make it....seems to me there are so many choices- online that is .

Waving hello to all- will be by blogs tonight.

Shelly

It's hard to believe the month is just about over. As always, I'm sorry for my absence. Not sure where the time goes

Last weekend we went away to the casino about an hour from home. Mike got me tickets for the Red Sox Winter Weekend for Christmas. We attended a town hall meeting with the team executives, a few different panels with baseball players and I had two meet & greet sessions. It was a random draw sorta thing, had to pick rooms and times ahead of time. I met a current pitcher and the shortstop (who was not very friendly) and then the team manager, the bullpen coach and an alumni team member (Fred Lynn, didn't know who he was until that day lol). It was a fun weekend. We came home to a foot of snow though and had to park at my parents and I stayed there until Mike could clean up here.

I've had foot issues since Christmas and I finally went to see a podiatrist on Monday. The issue is clearing up, but slowly...did a number on it with all the walking I did last weekend. I go back in a few weeks for a checkup, hopefully it will be healed completely by then.

Crafting has fallen by the wayside again but I am changing that starting tomorrow. I joined LOAD216, a layout a day. I am crazy but determined to get this done. I have to start getting these piled up pictures scrapped. I was devastated about Basic Grey, it's my all time favorite company and yes, it seems papercrafting has declined quite a bit. I do get together with my local friends every few months but I am the only dedicated crafter in the group still. The others mostly only do it when we are together, not at home. I am in a few Yahoo groups that are still fairly active but many of my groups have stopped crafting for various reasons. I always say I will do it until my hands won't cooperate anymore. Winters are tougher, have had a few painful nights with the cold so I didn't make my cards that needed done.

I have caught up on the last few pages that I missed. Glad Barb and Darlene were able to get together!

Good Evening--I worked on our taxes today and our Federal is E-filed and our state forms are packaged and ready to go to the post office tomorrow. It is not too bad to do with Turbo Tax as so much of the information is able to be downloaded from last year--just changing the numbers!

We are to get a storm on Tuesday--Ground Hog Day--but it sure has been downgraded since they started talking about it in the middle of the week. First it was over a foot of snow expected, then down to 3-5 inches and now it is less than 3 inches and maybe rain. It did rain for quite a bit this morning and into the afternoon.

I hope you had a good weekend!

Good Morning--Happy February 1st! Even if it is a Monday, I think being in February is better than January.............................

I am heading to Jefferson to pick up the invitations to mail for the Humane Society fund raiser--The Fur Ball-to be held the first Saturday in March. I have spoke of this event in the past and it is so much fun--since I am on the Board, we are the ones to send out the invites. The theme this year is Big Lights-Big City as we are holding in a large manufacturing building that is empty and are decorating like a two story loft for a New York City venue! I am also going out to lunch with the dicector of the shelter that I have known since she was in high school and I was in college!

Have a Fantastic Day!

Hi Stamp Addicts! Not sure how much I can type here. All of a sudden this afternoon my left hand round the base of my thumb started to hurt pretty badly. I don't recall doing anything to it, so not sure what happened. I have a compression glove on it, but not sure how much good that is doing. Kind of hard to type too.

I also need to take my car in for service and a repair. When the weather got nice yesterday I turned the AC on in my car and noticed that there is no air coming out of the vent on my side of the car. It used to work, so not sure what happened to that. Ugh! The cars only 16 months old.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Maxine, I'm ready for spring... so I guess that means autumn has to come to you, doesn't it?

Maggie, what a bummer about the car and your hand, too.

Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

Spring will be early! I heard Phil did not see his shadow (least that's what the radio said, hee hee ... not sure what Phil said exactly!)

Good Morning, Stamp Addicts! Sitting at college today waiting on dd to finish with her advisor and then over to financial aid - her pell grant came through again (this is the oldest - her car is in the shop, the one who did not get 5 million dollars in scholarships so we really hoped it would come through - it did, and then some!) Thank you, Lord! ♥

Maxine, I'm glad you are enjoying the cooler temps - will that do anything for your garden and glorious veggies you have been harvesting?

Maggie, maybe it's time for a check up, my friend! Hope the car gets a good bill of health ......... and I might be losing my mind, but I thought you were having trouble/fixed the problem with your air before - and kept having to take it back over and over and they could'nt find the problem? Maybe it was your old car ........
either that, or I'm OLD and I can't remember anything correctly! probably the latter ..

congrats Shel on your win! Woohoo! I love Bugaboo! I have hundreds of their digis - just wish I had time to play

*scattering love and hugs!*

Happy Tuesday,
Finally a day to relax and chill....... and do phone calls and make appt's

Last night on the way home from work, I checked Gas Buddy (app) and there was gas for 135.9 at a gas station a couple of miles out of the way, but was worth it- going for 160's at most gas stations here : ) Yeah- I saved a few bucks, then accidentally backed into the car behind me (did not see it) - dang. I had to make a police report and feel so bad- a young family with 2 little kids in the back. So, I saved a few bucks but cost me deductible to fix the bumper...... Oh well.....

Thanks- I love Random. org I took some images and DP, etc to Ky so I could do all 7 days of the challenge- not my best work ever to enter the Bugaboo contest, but I had a blast. I have a folder of their images too- and wanted to try to use more unused suplies, so thought it would be a great challenge.

Barb- we got a crazy rain storm here- the wind is howling and the rain is pretty heavy...... Cannot complain, it could be snow : ) Did you get snow? I am lucky- hubby does our taxes. If he were not around, I would have an accountant do them. We have farmland that complicates ours a but.....

I stopped by Kristie's blog today- no troubles loading the page. My computer keeps freezing, but that is not anyone's page..... it is the server I think.

Kelly- yeah for tuition grants etc..... Stephi is applying for grad school right now, all out of state, so hoping she will get some.

Maggie- hope your hand heals quickly and that your car gets fixed quickly!

Kristie- good to keep busy doing a SB page daily. I think the bloging is the worst time consuming part of it!

Maxine- glad you will enjoy cooler temps- means we have warmer weather on the horizon : ) We have not had too bad of a winter this year...... (Only on occasions where I have to drive somewhere is the family joke....)
Do you grow lettuce or cooler weather crops in the garden when it cools down?

Jeanette- glad to see you having some time at home and to chat. How does hubby like his new job so far? And, did your daughter get herself a dog?

Waving hello- hope I did not miss anyone!

Shelly

Maggie, what a bummer about the car and your hand, too.

Yes, but the hand is feeling better today. Instead of that, I woke up at 4 am with a terrible sore throat. Other than that I feel okay, so I think it might just be allergies, but not sure why it hit me so suddenly and hard like this.

I'm going to be taking Paisley in to see the vet tomorrow unless she has another issue tonight. Earlier she threw up, but it was just liquid, but had some blood in it. I called the emergency clinic and they said to keep an eye on her. She doesn't appear to be sick in any other way. If she has another episode, I'll take her over there, otherwise, I'll call my vet at 7 in the morning and get her in to see them. I've been going to do this anyway for her senior wellness check up.

Hope everything went well at school for DD. So, does the grant mean that she'll get her car out of the shop and you'll have one less school run to make every day?

We actually had a nice spring day today although I wasn't out in it except to feed the outside kitties.

That was my old car that had all the A/C problems that they couldn't fix. This one blows lots of cold air, but the vent on my side in the middle of the dashboard is not blowing air. The other 3 are doing just fine. It is time for some service anyway.

Fabulous win Shelly! I linked my last OSAAT card to a bunch of different challenges a week ago Sunday and only a few of them have visited my blog with a comment. What's the point?

Good going on the gas price Shelly. That's about what I paid the other day, but I had points for mine. Usually mine is $1.55

So sorry about the bumper. Sucks.

I didn't have any problems with Kristie's blog loading.

I worked in my stamp room today trying to get some things organized. I had a box of old cards that I made years ago when I first started stamping. OMG!
I went through them and tossed just about all of them. Trying to get my scraps organized too and get everything put away. What a job.

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Shelly, I'm so sorry about the fender bender. That stinks! Yes, my DD did get a dog - part Husky, so he's going to be a big'un when he grows up. Right now he has the cutest little bark.

Maggie, poor Paisley! I hope things are better... and for you, too (sore throats are no fun at all!)

YAY! I'm able to open Kristie's blog today without a problem at all. That was weird yesterday - and I tried again and again off and on all day.

I'm making soup this morning to take to our last luncheon Bible study for this year. (The church canceled one week, due to snow, so we've continued into the first week of February.)

Leaving a trail of (((HUGS))) and Merriment

Good Morning--welcome to Wednesday! The "storm" we were to get yesterday sure was a dud! We did not get any snow at all but we did get some rain and lots of wind. There was snow north and west, up to 10" in some places. Oh well, it snowing a bit today, so maybe they just forecast it too early.............................

Throat is still a bit on the sore side. s t

Paisley had some blood drawn for tests and has 2 different medicines to take. That's going to be fun. None of my kitties are good at taking medicine. She's lost 2+ pounds since last June, so that's not good. Not sure what the problem is so have to wait for the test results to come back which won't be until next week.

That sounds like such a fun theme!! Please share when it's decorated. I would love to see it!

Shelly - So sorry to hear you had a fender bender and while you were trying to save money! Drats! Glad everyone is okay though.

Jeanette - Sorry you were having issues with my blog. It's the only instance I've heard of that happening. Glad it worked fine today.

Maggie - Hope the allergies or whatever is bothering you clears up. I groaned when I read you were having A/C issues as I remember all the trouble you had with your old car! I hope Paisley will be okay, good luck with giving her medicine.

Kelly - Congrats to your DD on her $$ for school!

Monday was not a good day...our close knit little Disney group (the one where I met some people in September) discovered some issues with a member and it was pretty shocking to us all. Some changes were made after that to protect our group. Then I found out a dear online friend from a scrapbooking group has skin cancer on her head and also a mass in her head. Testing is still being done before surgery can be scheduled and treatments decided. I got to meet this friend a few summers ago when she and her husband were passing through town. She has a strong faith that I am hoping will carry her through this and well as all the support she has gotten already.

It is not going to be easy getting through these 29 days of pages. What was I thinking? I do think pushing myself to do it is probably better than wallowing letting everything get to me. Last night Mike and I had a date night. It was a nice few hours out and I got to clear my head a bit.

Late afternoon check in! What a day!! ALL. DAY. LONG. on the road. Oh I just about passed out going to pick up dd/ds .... with traffic, spending all day in the car back and forth ....... whew! I'm going to apply for UBER! hee hee!

DD has her truck back ... whoop! boyfriend took her to pick it up and she wasn't happy about a chunk of her paycheck fixing it, but as we tried to tell the kids often,
"Welcome to Adult!"

Kristi, you are correct! Now she can drive herself again so one less kid I'm sorry to hear about your Disney group, whatever the trouble was ... but I'm sure it will strengthen the bond with the remaining friends and bring you closer! I was in a pregnancy forum with my dd Victoria, then 2 years after all the kids births, we found out one of the ladies was never even pregnant or had a kid (or a house fire, etc!) The massive amount of fraud that ensued was so heartbreaking. We send her things for the pregnancy, collected $$ for her birth, then the fire ........ oh my. You know the saying, once burned .......... but in my heart, we meant well and whatever we lost monetarily, I would have felt even worst had it been real and not to have helped at all - kwim? Rambling ........

Gotta help little man with science ......... well, just supervise, since I'm clueless! He has Math/Science Bowl this Saturday at a nearby college ..... dd is taking the SAT (college) so dh will have to take him and cheer him on (and send mama pictures!)

I will catch up, I hope, tomorrow! *crossing fingers!*

Scattering love and hugs!

Barb, I'd be glad to have the storm fizzle like that.

Poor Paisley... sorry you'll have to give her meds, Maggie!

Kristie, it is heartbreaking when issues arise in groups. I'm sorry you're experiencing that now. And friends who are ill, too. (((HUGS)))

Kelly, Yikes! Please take care of yourself.

Default hi

Hello to all. Wet chilly day- not raining but a mist in the air...... Good day to stay in and get things done..or not : )

Kristie- my husband thinks that was an awesome weekend and knows right away who Hall of Famer Fred Lynn is ...... Bet the snow is beautiful, but it is a pain- has it started melting yet? Sorry about your fraud in your group- crazy! I sent a check and a card to a little girl who was severly burned out East and is the only surviving family member, etc....and my check was altered in the amount box- and the band debited my acct for an extra $100.00 I called in and they fixed it right away, but cannot imagine someone doing that. Wonder WHO would do that and HOW many people had it happen and do not notice. (I would never notice, but hubby watches checks and Visa like a hawk- he catches so much stuff!

Barb- the Fur Ball sound like so much fun! I too would like to see pics of the decorations- sounds really cool : )

Maggie- glad hand is better and hoping your throat improves swiftly! And, don't laugh- I checked all of the blowers when I got in my car today- glad to say they are all working just fine! So sorry about your kitty- so sad! I do not worry about comments from challenge blogs- and that is why I got off a DT- too many people don't do the commenting and no one says anything to them..... I see them comment from other teams, so some teams do watch.... Whatever........ I love winning an occasional challenge, so that is good enough for me.

Jeanette- so did your daughter get her dog as a little puppy? Does she have to run home during the day to take him/her out....awwwwww!

Kelly- what grade is your little guy in this year??? Congrats to him and wishing him the best for this weekend. And. also to your daughter! So, what type of coffee do you make at home?

Waving hello to all

Shelly

Good Morning Fellow Stamp Addicts!

Oh Shelly, that's awful about the check. Just awful!

Yes, DD's Barrow is a puppy. No one wanted him and he would not have survived had someone not taken him... the natives don't place much value on homeless dogs. So she took him. He's a handful right now - all puppy and growing fast. But he is quickly becoming a great companion for her. She actually takes him to the home of one of her fellow teachers during the school day - a family member there watches him... and Barrow gets to play with their two dogs, which is good for him.

Speaking of Friday... I'm heading out of town early tomorrow morning for meeting after meeting, after meeting. Yes, I actually have three different meetings in our state offices over the next 4 days - none on Sunday but it makes no sense to drive home 3 1/2 hours to turn around and go back in about 16 hours... so I'm staying in the city. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... might need to go to Michael's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's................ oh, and Chipotle and Starbucks, too!

I will be home late Monday night and back in the threads on Tuesday. Have a great weekend!
