Kelly, I am hoping Tony's visit with the doctor goes well and he can find a way to improve the results.

I love my Gemini Junior and would recommend it to anyone. If you have watched the video, you know I will love it even more when I cut a self-healing mat to fit it!

Hope your Facebook session goes great today, Jeanette!!

OMG Kelly poor Tony. Keep us posted as to what the Dr says. Praying it's just one of those "Its going to look bad before it gets better" things.

Lynn I will for sure watch the video. Since I saw you are going out for self healing mats it sounds like it's similar to what I've been using in my Cuttlebug. I got tired of buying cutting plates and I am now using self healing mats for it. I LOVE IT!!! But I will watch video to make sure I get the right stuff. My plates look like poop too! Ok not real poop but you know what I mean.

Jeanette how is it that I knew nothing on your live stuff on FB? I'm going to have to see if I can find it and check it out.

Susan, so tell me about this self-healing mat for your cuttlebug. Can a similar thing be used on the Big Shot?

Yes Jeanette it works in both my machines though I must admit some of the fancier dies like Anna Griffin work better in the Cuttlebug. I did a blog post on it and you can see it here: https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?bl...0;src=postname
Let me know if the link doesn't work and I'll PM you. I have been using this for over a year now and LOVE it.

Ohhhh okay, I knew about the self healing mats - I don't want to quote the wrong YouTubers, but do remember them mentioning it previously. I kept my old one just in case for that purpose!

You know, assuming one day I will get one. ONE DAY. lol

Strange but I'm no computer wiz...lol. Anyway here is the front and back of the box.

Hopefully these showed up. I'm on my phone and not the computer. I have had mine over a year. I'll see if I can get my post sent a different way.

Good Morning. What a night.............woke up to go potty, stretched and pulled a lower back musle. Figures! Yesterday Nick seemed a bit "Iffy". Not sure if he's just having an off day or what. I hate this having to be on constant pins and needles. He was in such high spirits for 11 days after surgery so it seemed so promising. I mean in actuality they did not replace the shunt. It was just blown out. Kind of like having your pipes Rotor Routed, remove the clog and pipes drain again. I pray he doesnt keep going backwards. So far he has re-started deeply rubbing his eyes, gagged himself once, keeping his head down more often and seems a bit dopier. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Jeanette glad you were able to get into the blog and see the pics. Have fun exploring. I have not yet tried cutting and using my own mats, but eventually I will give it a try. For now I'm loving the system I'm using.

Kelly hows Tony's hand?

Lynn let me know if you actually try the self healing mats and what you used to cut them.

Shelly hope all is well.

Hello friends!

Did you see me yawn? It wasn't a yawn. It was a silent scream - no Bux today! The line was Way WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long. I didn't feel like ordering ahead because that would have meant getting out of my car, LOL. And that was a NO - I was ........ quite the fright. Didn't even brush my hair and twisted it up in a messy bun!

Meh.

Oh Susan, my biggest hugs are yours! I'm praying for you and that you can stand up right and do all the things you do! And Nick (((( hugs )))) You need a break.

I did love your review on your blog! I would love to invest in all of those things - maybe one day! I also saw on YouTube that you can cut up a cutting mat (think of the cheaper ones like the recollections Michaels brand) down to size and use those.

I have a brand new Cuttlebug (and another new in box) and my plates from December are already warped! What. Up. With. That!

Lynn, have fun shopping!

Thanks ladies on Tony .......... truthfully, I am not happy with his hand at all. I think it doesn't look right. I don't think he stitched it well, and I don't think it healed well. He's going to see his primary today - and see what she says. There's NO way to restitch it at this point and it actually healed raised up (think of a crack in the sidewalk from a root - pushed up!) and he said he doesn't mind "not pretty" (truth. He married me, lol!) What i mind is that he works in a nasty hospital and there are things he cannot get exposed to, so he has to keep it under wraps!

On the Alice news ...... the green peas were a HIT!!! A smashing success! (I do love me some peas, so she's Oma's fan right now!) My daughter is making all her own baby food - baby bullet, all organic, whole foods for now. With her milk allergy, and what appears maybe a sensitivity to wheat and oatmeal, she's going the organic route for now. My kitchen looked like professional establishment with all the pots and strainers and jars! Tomorrow is squash and, after 3 days, pears!

Okay, off to attempt to do some work! I'm doing some articles and notes for da job and have to keep up ...... and hopefully, make some cards!

Taking a minute to breathe. We have been at the hospt all day in the ER. CRAZY!! They told us about 11am that he was being admitted and he's been on the surgical schedule since noon and we are STILL in the ER. Waiting for a room. This is nuts. Ok here's the problem. Shunt line is once again blocked. They did a tap to relieve some pressure which made Nick in a better mood. They are going to try repositioning the shunt line tomorrow. Surgery is about 7:30 am. I'm sure they'll eventually get this right. Just so frustrating watching him go through this.
Well gotta get back up there and consider doing the long drive home. Tomorrow might be rough driving the hour back to the hospt since another winter storm is suppose to hit with snow and icey conditions. Figures!

Kelly...you are a beauty who are you trying to kid. I bet as you walked down the aisle he thought you were the most beautiful woman in the world. And BTW men love battle scars which is probably why he doesn't mind the way his hand looks. Awwww Poor Alice.......PEAS. This Ama would rather give her sweet potatoes. LOL HATE PEAS! heeheehee I can imagine your kitchen filled with cooking stuff for baby. Mine looked the same way. Its so much better for the little ones.

Talk later

Praying and praying that this time everything works. And keeps on working! And praying for safety as you go back and forth.

OH Susan I signed on to send a quick email and PM and see this ..... oh so sad. You are just burning the candle at both ends - and will be on bended knee for you and for Nick.

From the roads to the ice to the weather, the doctors who know and love Nick, to you both that are so lovingly doting on your sweet and special boy, I'll be thinking good thoughts and rooting for you all ♥

Much love, Ama!

Good Morning Paper-Loving Inky Friends!

I'm praying, praying, and praying some more! Praying for Nick's surgery to go smoothly this morning and to have lasting effects, not short-term ones like the last surgery. Praying for Nick... that he'll know those who are doing things that might hurt to him are really trying their very best to help him to feel better. Praying for safety for Susan/DH and others who go to/fro while weather conditions are less than ideal. Susan, know that we gals - your Fabulous Four Friends - are keeping you in our thoughts as you walk this unwanted path.

Kelly - I didn't mean to ignore your post when I posted last night. I'm sorry if it felt that way. I just rushed through here and left the comment (from my phone, which I never do). Then headed off to PM Susan.

That's scary about Tony's hand! It doesn't sound good, the way you described it. I hope the medical professional can find a way to make it better, even though re-stitching is not an option. Is it real painful? Praying for answers/solutions for Tony's injury!

Shelly, I hope you rested well! Did you get a lot of snow overnight? I think they said Chicagoland was supposed to get it.

Lynn, I am sure you were a blessing at church yesterday! Did you try out your self-healing mat? I hope you loved it!

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My prayers this morning are that you, Susan, and your husband have made it safely through the snow and icy roads to Nick's side and that the surgeons are able to make a lasting repair that will spare Nick the agony and confusion of going through this repeatedly! What a nightmare for you all!

I will be praying all morning along with Kelly, Shelly, and Jeanette, I know!!

Sending warm hugs and love, Susan!!

I have an update from Susan... Nick's surgery was a long one, but he's now out of surgery. Still in recovery, I'm guessing, because she said "he will eventually be going to ICU". His surgery started at 7:30 this morning and didn't end until 10:50 but the doctors said he did great, with very little bleeding.

Keep praying for Nick as he recovers, for the on-going benefit of this surgery (the one two weeks ago lasted such a short time), and for Susan and her husband as they lovingly care for him. Plus so much more, too! I assured Susan that we love her and are praying.

Thanks for the update Jeanette- prayers! Hope they replaced the shunt altogether!

Kelly- I still have not read back thoroughly, but wanted to tell you- when my neck surgery was done, the stitch job was awful- jagged and uneven. I was at a Lacrosse game- a neighbor was there watching her son too- she is a Physical Therapist. She told me you can gently stroke your finger over the incision during the day and it will move the skin ...what- i have never heard of it- but surely enough, it seems to have moved the jagged edge of the skin and it now lays flat. The scar is visible still but looks WAY better than the initial stitch job!

Be back later tonight!

Shelly

Good evening ladies. Here is the latest update from Susan...

She is heading home now (thought she might get a Bux on the way home, too - I knew you'd think that's a good plan, Kelly). She said the weather isn't as bad as they'd said it would be so that is a good thing.

Her husband is going to try to feed Nick dinner tonight, since the nurse said he can have soft foods. He was thirsty - and drank two juice containers today.

He'll have scans done tomorrow to see how things are looking and she said they even talked about a possible release tomorrow but she's hoping they will keep him at least until Friday to see he's doing okay. She wants him in good shape when he goes home.

He has five incisions. Yikes... that seems a lot to me!

Here are her words to all of you - "Thanks for all the prayers again. You guys make me feel so loved."

Let's keep praying!!!

Good Morning Paper-Loving Inky Friends!

It's going to be one of those days, I fear. LOL! Woke up to no internet. Have not one, not two, but three meetings today and two of them are online meetings, so I was really sweating the internet glitch. Fortunately it's up again now. I sure hope it stays that way. First online meeting is at noon; the second one is at 6:30. But first, I have a meeting here in town this morning.

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Afternoon Ladies... two meetings are finished. One more to go. And supper is smelling good (soup in the crockpot).

I have an update from Susan!

She says Nick is doing really good. The doctor said the scans don't look bad. Because of the extent of the surgery - all they had to do - there is a 10% chance of an infection starting within the first 48 hours. So they are keeping him in the hospital for observation, but I think he might get to go home tomorrow, if I read Susan's message correctly. They will move him out of ICU today.

Susan says they will repeat the scan tomorrow.

Remember he had five incisions. She says two of those have "butterfly" closures so no stitches there to be removed. There are two incisions in the neck area, with stitches, I think. I'm not sure what the 5th one is.

She doesn't anticipate any other updates today, as they are mostly monitoring Nick for the potential of infection.

Keep praying!

Good Morning Paper-Loving Inky Friends!

I'll be home alone much of the day - DH and Brock are making their trip to Love Packages (about 3 hours away) to deliver the outdated/donated literature from our churches. They do this about every 4-5 months. Brock loves going, partly because his dad lets him choose what restaurant they will eat in.

I think I'll play with ink - plus I have an appointment for a haircut.

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Home alone!! Oh, the trouble you could get into, Jeanette! Or you could get in MORE trouble at the beauty salon!! Have a great day.

I am off to attend a quilt show in La Grange with three of my quilting friends. I wish I had taken quilting instruction from my grandmother when she tried to get me interested! By the time I was old enough and wise enough to be interested, she was gone. I will be the only non-quilter on the trip!

Loving your Unity cards, Shelly!! And yours too, of course, Jeanette!

Kelly, did you end of giving up on the lever card? When I read that you were having trouble with it, I started working on it much earlier than usual. I don't like to spend that much time and effort of a card. I had to trash two before I got one halfway lined up properly. I am not interested in making another. There are much simpler ways to get the same effect.

Susan, I am praying for your family. Hope Nick is back safely in your arms and you both get some much needed time to rest and heal.

Wishing you all a peaceful weekend!

Our church is having a huge celebration on Sunday. We are finally going to be back in our sanctuary for the first time since Hurricane Harvey. All the repairs have been made and our church brought back to its former beauty.

Oh how fun to go on a quilting road trip, Lynn! Enjoy the time with your friends... maybe they will inspire you to take on a new hobby (to go along with the one you already have, not to replace it).

Your celebration Sunday will be a joy, I'm sure!

Thank you for your sweet words!

Good Morning Paper-Loving Inky Friends!

WELCOME HOME, Susan, Nick and DH! I hope the evening/night went well! (((HUGS)))

FYI - We have an all-day missions training event today (here locally) so I'm not sure if I'll be back on SCS today or not. Then tomorrow I'll head out-of-town for Board Committee meetings. I won't be home until Tuesday evening. So unless I pop in here later today, I'll see you again on Wednesday.

Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are HOME!!! What a rollercoaster! This has been the shortest hospt stay since this whole thing started back in December. 1st stay...13 days, 2nd stay...9 days, 3rd stay (current)...4 days. This time they actually listened to me instead of saying "Well lets just make sure and check this this and this and maybe that first". Anyway I won't go into detail since I know Jeanette has been keeping you guys updated. But here's the home scoop. Nick is happy to be home and has been pretty good about leaving his incisions alone. 2 of them are in the belly area but are pretty tiny and only needed butterfly tape to close. They were down there to remove some of the old broken apart tubing from 20 yrs ago and to reposition the new tube. 2 incisions in the neck needed a few stitchs each but they are dissolving ones. Those incisions were also used for removing some old tubing and repositioning the new tube. 1 huge incision in his head on the side. This is where the shunt pump is located. That took 7 staples to close. And since that area has been opened twice in 2 weeks Dr wants it to heal slow by keeping ointment on it and not removing staples for 3 weeks. Man That is going to stink due to his hair. Speaking of hair...thank goodness he's a boy and wears it super short. lol He is really doing great and I'm sure being home will help his healing since I truely believe you get better faster at home instead of in a germy hospt. Lets hope this is the LAST time we need to go through this. BUT.................if I have to go through this again.................it is such a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that my gals here are on bended knee. The love I have felt these past months has been so comforting. You gals are amazing and I love you all.

Now on to life! Lynn when I saw the word La Grange I almost dropped my teeth! I was like "WHAT???? Lynn's close by???? I need to see her!" Then I realized theres a La Grange in your state too. LOL Hope it was fun. Love quilt shows..so many talented ladies. My neighbor up north at the cabin is an avid quilter. Twice a year she turns her cabin into a quilting retreat for her family and friends. There are usually 10 women there all with machines and fabric. Ok and "Wine" lol. Their work is so awesome. (the wine is for the evening rest in front of a bonfire on the beach).

Jeanette enjoy your meetings...I bet you will peek in here sometime. lol

Kelly sorry about Tony's hand and hopefully it won't look as bad as you think once healed.

Shelly I hope things are going well with you and that you have gotten your Mojo back.

I am going to relax.............watch a movie maybe................and play with paper!!! Found a new fold!!!! So excited to do it and....it's super simple that I think Claire Bear could to it! LOL

Thanks for updating us with all this wonderful news, Susan!! What a relief to have Nick home under your watchful eye. But I am going to keep praying just the same. Know that your name and Nick's will be lifted up each and every day!

LaGrange, Texas was my destination! When we pulled up to the building after 2 hours on the road, the building was completely empty! Not a single car or person in sight. Turns out they had moved it to a new location. We found it easily and enjoyed all the amazing work. It also turns out our tastes are quite different. I loved they bright, contemporary quilts and they preferred the more traditional.

Today will be a day at home making cupcakes for tomorrow's Oscar Party. The girls (dogs) and I are going to my son's house for the celebration. It will be their first night away from home. Hope they behave!! B & A have a cat!!!

Lynn, would you believe yesterday I meant to pop on and ask if you were having the Oscars party this year! I remembered! And ta -da - indeed you are! How absolutely fun!

I did give up on the lever card - and have you beat with 3 in the trash! I have this thing were I just CANNOT put a card into the universe if I dislike it so much and I just couldnt' get it to work. I asked for a pass from F and she said okay, so I went with not passing go and not collecting $200!

Wow on the quilt show - and glad you found it! My daughter is a quilter. She makes the most detailed stitching! She also loved Vera Bradley and always carried the backpack in school, etc ........ now I know it's because of her love of quilts.

SUSAN! Yay on being home and getting settled. Girl, I was a prayin'! God hears how you are loved and how much He loves you - and Nick is a wonderful and lucky boy to have such doting parents. I hope you get a chance to sit a spell!

Beautiful graphic, Jeanette! Reminds me of a children's storybook! Safe travels and I hope you get it all done! And I bet your haircut is snazzy! I'm about to go short. Well my hair! I'm already short! (a whole 5'3" I am!) But to my collarbones. It's time!

Shelly, your unity week has been so gorgeous! I've seen them on FB ..... not enough time to hop around and blog

We have a HUGE set design we are working on - my son's Guys and Dolls play. We are in charge of pipes! Like century old pipes - picture rust and patina and nuts and bold and they must be free standing and moveable! By march 1st! YIKES!

I'm also the card kit recipient in Barb's group here on SCS for March and the theme I chose was A Year of Alice ♥ Her first holidays, birthday, just growing up .... and the first kit arrived today and I'm dropping everything to work on it! I cried!!!

So toodles! <~~ as per Mickey Mouse CLubhouse, Alice's favorite along with Cat in the Hat!

Default Hello

Hi ladies.

First of all- praise God- Nick has been under the watchful eye of his guardian angel and lots of us praying, praying and a little more praying!!! Glad he was in and out lickity split- and I am with you Susan- get him out of the germ infested hospital! LOL Prayers for speedy healing!
I hope your fancy fold is not too difficult, especially if Clair Bear should be able to do it....LOL

Thanks Kelly- it has been a bit tough this past week- my back AND neck are both acting up this entire week, so sitting to create has been absolute misery! I even got up one night and took Lyrica- which I hate!!! But it helped ALOT. I am not sure what God has in my future, but I will take it as he desires : )
Oh, I have some darling images in mind for your kit. And, did I see you say you dislike pink? (What???). LOL I have a huge pile to dive into- of kits that is! Beautiful kits! (thankfully not laundry piles....!)

Lynn- I did take some quilting classes- oh how I love seeing some of the beautiful quilts people create!!! In my first class, I made a quilt that was about 4' x 4' and hand quilted , I gifted it to my sister, and she had it framed! She still has it after 2 moves- such a wonderful compliment! Then I had kids and moved onto smocking.

Jeanette- have a great weekend- fun for Brock to travel with his dad- does he try different restaurants, or does he like to revisit the same one over and over???

We met my BIL and SIL in Sandwich Ill tonight for dinner. For a little town, it was a fabulous meal and a great restaurant! I so love my BIL's wife, and it is funny to see the brothers together 'bonding'. My hubby is the baby- he is always in a positive mood and gets such a kick out of his brother! (his brother gets on tangents and goes on and on)..... But those combined traits are in our kids, and are hysterical to talk about....... which we did......
The restaurant is a train car Roosevelt used in his election bid in 1920, added a building onto it- called Bull Moose Bar and Grille. We ate in the train car- the rest of the place is a bar- tables in that area as well. Delicious food.

Worked with college friends today- going to the Netherlands in July for a bike and barge trip. We will stop in Ireland first, will stay in Dublin, with a side trip to visit Gorey, Wexford first. This is the home of my dads mothers family. A relative is going to show us the family farms and cemetery, and introduce us to other relatives. I am so so so so so very excited!!!

After the Bike and Barge, will end up in Amsterdam, and a Technique Junkies DT member (who I have met in the US once) has offered for us to stay with her a day or two. (Hetty Sanders). I am so looking forward to it, working on this darn back to behave!!!

Off to bed- still sleeping alot- but I seem to be waking up alot during the night.... I think to move as the back hurts..... Behave you!!! LOL

Shelly
