You all are speaking a foreign language to us Texans when you talk about snow and snow issues. Here near the gulf coast, we get all excited to see a flurry or two every 10 to 20 years. In my 65 years of life, we have had one white Christmas. They called it a hundred years snow and it happened on Christmas Eve in 2004. We had about 4 inches on the ground.

Your snow pictures are gorgeous, but when Texans drive in snow, they all end up in the ditch. So happy that you all were able to travel safely.

Shelly, now that the rain has cleared out, you should have plenty of warmth and sunshine for your trip to Texas.

Good luck with the fruit salad, Jeanette. I have to make a salad of some kind for a Thursday Christmas luncheon.

Good Morning Inky Friends!

Lynn, what kind of salad are you making for tomorrow's luncheon. I love salads!

I had a productive day yesterday! I finished the decorations at the office - which basically was one BIG tree and a nativity set, plus putting electricity to a few other trees. And I made all of the favors for Saturday's party (plus a few extras in case someone shows up who didn't RSVP). I also made part of what's needed for the table centerpieces. Whew! I feel like this might all fall in place yet.

Oh I saw the favors! And they are GORGEOUS! Way to go on the decor and making it all purty

LOL, Lynn - about as well as we here in Florida would handle snow, I reckon! How magical you had snow on Christmas eve! We did have white Christmas 2 years ago - albeit in Tennessee We rented a cabin up in the mountains and woke up Christmas morning to snow - made angels, snowmen, went skiing and sledding. The kids were in their glory.

Meanwhile, yesterday .. it was 84!

Sue, that picture of your snow field street ......... SWOON!!! You'd never get me inside if I lived there. I love, love, love (and miss) the winters and snow. Sigh ....

Waving to all!

What a productive day, Jeanette.

I haven't decided between the Hawaiian Pulled Pork Fruit Salad and the Amish Broccoli/Cauliflower Salad found in my Pinterest Salad Folder.

We do go crazy when we see snow, don't we, Kelly? What fun!

We are supposed to get blasted with cold tonight, but we won't see anything like you northern ladies!

Stay warm! And keep checking off those Christmas tasks! My list to so, so long!!

Susan... I'll post a picture to my blog next week... I don't know if anyone attending goes to my blog, but just in case, I don't want to show them yet.

Kelly, I am coming to your house. Your 84 sounds wonderful to me!

Lynn, I'm drooling! I think both salads look/sound awesome... and yes, now I am following your pin board.

OMG.....chilly chilly chilly!!

Totally understand Jeanette...I'll wait until you have it up on your blog. As you know I do the same thing, wait until the event is over then post the gifts I made. Don't want to spoil the surprise.

Think I'm staying inside today and make some baked potatoe soup and some sort of bread. It's a good day for soup!
Still haven't decided what crafts the grandkids will do on Saturday so I guess I better work on that too today. I might have them make those ornaments I did with the rolled papers inside for starters. I have some clear plastic ornaments they could use laying around here somewhere. Since they will be here all day Saturday and then over night I need quite a few to keep them busy. I needed break will be to watch Mary Poppins. I heard its suppose to be on one of the networks that night but I do have the DVD so I think we will watch it commercial free! I love that movie!
Well I'm off to chop veggies! Have a wonderful day!

Susan, soup sounds wonderful... and since I do have to go out today, I think I'll stop by your house for dinner. Sound okay with you?

I had to giggle about Mary Poppins, though. My DD laughs at me because I am one of the few people who doesn't like the character Mary Poppins (I do like the movie though.) I personally think she's a bit too grumpy/gruff and self-centered. And leaving the kids without even telling them goodbye is downright mean.

YAY! I'm heading to Susan's house......

It's okay, my DD doesn't share my views on Mary Poppins either.

Oh please make room for me at Susan's house, too - I LOVE LOVE LOVE Baked Potato Soup!! And bread!

Oh wait - I have to be here to celebrate! My 'baby' is 22 today!! Our oldest - and my firstborn baby girl - turns (quoting Taylor Swift) "Feeling 22!" another year older. She's so driven and SMART and well rounded and flipping talented ......... she sews and quilts and knits and crochets and bakes from SCRATCH and so many things kids these days don't do. She says she was meant to be born in the 50's "June Cleaver" era - LOL!

BUT. Since the girl's favorite is ice cream cake, this mommy is not making her cake from scratch and we will be going to Carvel to bring it home

LOL!

Have a wonderful day, ladies - whatever your plans are! ♥

Hope both of your birthday girls had fabulous days, Kelly!

It is cold here now. May have to find out about that soup Susan is cooking up!

Hope to be productive today and knock out 24 scrapbook pages.

24 scrapbook pages? Oh my Lynn that would be over productive for me! LOL OMG the soup was fabulous!! I think its going to be my go to recipe! Ive made my signature spicy tomatoe soup for years but always flip flopped potatoe soups. Some were ok others totally stunk but this one???? Yep going to be my signature potatoe. My family LOVES soups! With another cold day ahead of us I think we'll do soup again with al the leftovers in fridge. I call it my "Whatcha Got" soup. I always have homemade stock in freezer so I use that and then add all the leftover veggies from fridge, and those small scoops of frozen veggies that we always just leave in the bag because there isn't enough for a side. Then any leftover meats in the fridge. For ewxample we have some L.O. steak and 1 pork chop. Season it all up and you have "Whatcha Got" soup.Heehee did I mention my son stopped by this morning and took the leftover potatoe soup for his lunch? Little sneak...came in while we were still in bed, left a note that the soup sounded good and thanks. Goof.

Well Kelly I hope your daughter enjoyed here birthday! Ahhhhh to be 22!!!!
My Eldest is going to be 37 (YIKES) and my baby will be turning 33 (double YIKES) Sometimes I wonder how this is possible. You BLINK and years go by. Seems like only yesterday my eldest was a scrawney little dude going into the Navy. Now he's not so scrawney, married, 3 kids and a house.

Came up with 2 crafts but Im sure I'll need more for our little sleepover tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get the samles done and I can show you. Also preparing for the snow storm we are suppose to get here this weekend.

Stay safe out there!!!

Okay - Susan, it's official ........ we want your recipe! That's. My. Fave! ♥
It sounds like it came out superb!

And yes! I'm thinking snow! So far, just dust bunnies - that's up with that?!

Lynn - bundle up! I imagine it is a welcome change and great feel to the holidays.

No cake left - sadly! They scooped it up! And didn't leave until after 12:30 last night, lol. I kept checking my watch like 'we have school tomorrow early, and work - yikes!" But she had a wonderful time! And she's heading to Disney on Monday for a week long celebration - LUCKY!

I'm off to get inky and color - fun!!

Scattering hugs

Good Morning Inky Friends!

Hmmmm... Lynn, do you suppose Kelly didn't tell us about the cake because she knew we'd come and there wouldn't be enough cake for everyone if we did? LOL!

Susan, that's fun... Whatcha Got soup! I make "Dump Soup" often.... see, I love Love LOVE to make soup.... so sometimes I just start dumping things together to make soup (no recipe.... just whatever sounds good at the moment). I do have some recipe soups, too though... and like Kelly, I'd love to try yours.

Kelly, hmmmmmmm I could send you some dust bunnies to go with your collection.

Default Hi

Just dropping a line from Tx- we had a smooth flight Thursday- whoa it was freezing in Chicago when we left! Mom did well other than being tired. She gets pretty nervous when she travels- with her Dementia, she does not process well what s going on and any change....... She was much better today.

I hear I am missing out on some snow, and will be back Tuesday night at midnight- just in time for some really freezing weather!

My computer screen got damaged, and it is just getting worse and worse, so I imagine I am going to be without one when I get home until it gets fixed.

Hope you all have a fab weekend!

Shelly

Good Morning Inky Friends!

Susan, thanks for the soup recipe... I'll be trying it soon. Not this week, though... make note of the leftovers comment below.

Shelly, I'm glad your mom is coping fairly well with the travels. I know it's difficult. I remember when my MiL was still able to travel in the earlier stages of alzheimer's it would stress her a great deal. I'm sorry about your computer.... hopefully you'll be able to get it fixed soon.

Well, I survived... and it was a fun party! Not as many people there as we'd hoped for (we had a couple of families not show up) but those that were there had plenty to eat... and we'll be eating leftovers for a good long while. Sheesh! Too much food!

Then yesterday we partied twice. We were invited to a church in the morning that was having a Christmas lunch following the service. It gave us a great opportunity to visit with people and we enjoyed the time with them. Then in the evening we went to another church in our association (we always go to a different church morning and night unless my DH is asked to preach at the same one both services). They were having their cantata... it was WONDERFUL! And of course, there was party food following it. Again, we had a great time visiting with some people there.

Today I have a meeting. And this week has somewhere for us to go/be every day. Yep, it's beginning to feel a lot like the busy Christmas season that ministers have. And we love it!!!

Wow!!!! Chilly Chilly Chilly!!! Shelly it will be quite cold when you get home. I can't even imagine what you are going through with your mom. My parents both left this world with other issues. God is giving you strength I'm sure. Safe travels back home.
Jeanette, glad you had a good time and it sounds like there are alot of leftovers in your future... The soup can wait! lol Lots of cold days ahead of us since winter has just started.
Crafting with the grandkids went well and all the snow sure helped to keep them occupied! I post pics later.
I have a busy day so signing off for now.

Susan, I'm thinking it's time for winter to be over... I do not like cold temperatures.

I'm actually going to make some soup today with some of these leftovers... no recipe, just throwing stuff in the crockpot and seeing how it turns out. LOL!

Good thing my DH is a good sport about mealtime, isn't it?

So warm and toasty in my bed I hated to get up!! LOL Today is an exciting day....a friend that Ive known forever is coming over with her daughter (who now lives in Boston) to tell me all about wedding plans!! Her daughter got engaged last February and they happy couple are now planning an August wedding. My friend is so excite! This is the first of her 6 (yes 6) kids to tie the knot. The only thing I know so far is the wedding will take place where the 2 love birds met which was in collage in the U. P. of Michigan. Seemed a bit odd to me since they live in Boston Mass. and the rest of the family is in Illinois but it's what they want. Can't wait for details. My girlfriend doesnt have any sibling so we have always been known as Aunt Sue and Uncle Jim to her kids. We even have them here at Christmas to join in my familys celebration.
Guess I should straighten up around here and get some of these crafts off the dining room table so we can have our coffee and chit chat!
Enjoy your day!

Hi Susan... I feel like your graphic this morning, too... but for a different reason. I woke a little before 3:00 and couldn't go back to sleep so finally got up at 3:30.

How fun to hear wedding plans today. I hope you have a great day! And no need to straighten up... they are practically family, not guests.

Sounds like you will have a great day, Susan. Catching up with the lives of friends is always exciting and especially so with a wedding to plan! Enjoy every minute of it!

With all those extra hours to your day, I bet you will accomplish a lot, Jeanette! Maybe you can work in an afternoon nap!

Today's plan for me includes attending a Christmas luncheon with friends and coming home to make 38 cookbook scrapbook pages (19 with my favorite recipe of the year and 19 with our year in review page) for my husband's family Christmas celebration this Sunday. Between our two families, our Christmas traditions involve me making 86 scrapbook pages every December. One of these days I am going to get an earlier start on this. Ekkkkkk! At least I will be finished with them all by this weekend for a change. No scrapping all Christmas Eve this year!

Later this week I will have to make a trip into Houston to find some of the gifts on my list that I can't find here.

Have a wonderful day, ladies.

Lynn, wow! That's quite an accomplishment to make that many scrapbook pages each year. I used to make my parents a scrapbooked calendar every year - 13 pages (12 months and a cover page) AND it took me forever.

I hope to forgo a nap today... I really try not to take them. I'm always afraid they will just mess up my sleeping patterns the next night... but sometimes I give in and take one anyway.

Oh my goodness Jeanette I would be totally pooped by now if I got up at 3:30. LOLAnd Lynn are these 38 pages in addition to the 24 you were going to do the other day? I can't imagine needing to get 86 done! I think you need to start much earlier! Maybe you should get up at 3:30 like Jeanette! Heeheehee Well have a productive day!

Yum - thank you for the recipe, Susan! And Lynn, wow - what a project! Sounds like a good time with friends and making memories and good times

It's been an eventful few days here! From Boy Scout 13.7 mile hikes to Eagle Scout ceremonies to field projects to Aristocrats tech rehearsals and lights and sounds and stage work and chorus concert rehearsals and school and jobs and church! Whew! Today I left at 7:20 am and made it home for 20 minutes (dd forgot her folder at home) and then zipped back and made it home by 5:15 pm.

This. mama. is. tired. LOL!

This weekend my boys are camping - my oldest in is Disney World and other theme parks this whole week celebrating her birthday and the other two are in and out, so I just may take myself to a dinner and a movie! I need a treat!

With so many others to think of and do for during this hectic season, a self dinner and movie date sounds awesome, Kelly! I hope you can take the time out and just enjoy!

My turn to be up at 3:00 a.m. this morning. As a result, I am only 24 scrapbook pages short of my 86 page goal by Christmas Eve. I am planning to whip those out this afternoon and be D-O-N-E!!!

Good Morning Inky Friends!

Susan, I'm kind of used to seeing the 3:30 mark... I don't sleep well in the morning... well anything past 3:00. LOL! I go to sleep very well when I first get to bed, but after 3-4 hours of sleep, I'm not good at staying asleep. Fortunately I don't require a lot of sleep.

Lynn, I'm sorry I woke you. Sheesh! I was trying to be quiet. Way to go on the scrapbook pages, though!

Kelly, yes!!! A night out with yourself sounds like a refreshing treat in your busy/hectic life. Truthfully, I might think... nah, don't want to go anywhere else... so I'll stay home in my jammies.... and have whatever for supper. LOL!

I'm sorry I didn't pop in yesterday... it was a FULL day. I left for the city to finish up my Christmas shopping! (Other than a few odds and ends I'll get for stocking stuffers when I buy groceries next week.) I hope you all had a wonderful Wednesday and that today will be a great day, too!

oooooooooooo Leaving a trail of friendly (((HUGS)))

Wow it's -2 with wind chill -14! I'd say it's a bit nippy! Schools are still open here and winter break starts after school tomorrow. Guess there are some final exams going on in the H.S.'s so they don't want to call a "Cold Day" and have the kids miss those exams. For sure they would probably all fail them if they waited until after the 2 week break.
So Lynn are those pages finished???
Kelly a dinner out? Did you get to do it? All busy moms need a break!
Jeanette I was on your blog the other day and can't believe how many posts I actually missed. Not sure how that happened. I've been having a few senior moments I guess. LOL In fact my own blog I forgot to post 1 due to waiting to do spell check and then just plain forgot and still I have 1 more that I wrote but held off until I got pictures taken and of course forgot to take pictures and now I can't find the little buggers! I'm going to look some more today especially since its going to be soooo cold I'm going to stay in so seaching is do-able.

Thought I was all set in the gift department and my Avon lady called to say Paw Patrol item for grandson is back ordered. Normally I'd just say oh well but after a too cute conversation with him yesterday I just have to find something similar. Here's our conversation:
Bryce: Ama I told Santa I want Paw Patrol stuff for Christmas!
Me: Oh my goodness I sure hope he has enough!
Bryce: Wellllll.....If it's something special and not Paw Patrol thats ok.
Me: Awwww...your so sweet
Bryce: Yes I am!

I LOVE AGE 5!! We kind of forget how darn cute our kids were until we get the grandkids and we get the "Do Overs"! Love love love being a grandma!

Well I'm going to go have a cup of tea, relax, stay warm and inside and then tackle looking for that silly card thing and get a picture!

Oh Susan... your little guy is a darling!

I saw your comments on my blog this morning. THANK YOU! And I too have been known to fail to click publish.

Yes, the weather IS definitely not playing nice. I live in central Illinois... where it's currently 14 degrees. Our son lives in southern Wisconsin, where the temperature is -1 degrees right now. Our daughter, who lives in the bush of Alaska... way WAY up north.... is currently enjoying 32 degree weather. (And it's dark in Alaska and daylight here in the lower 48.)

I'll be making a trip to the big city (in my case, that's Houston}to finish up on Christmas shopping on Monday, Jeanette! Then I should be able to say in the rest of the week and concentrate on cooking although we won't need a ton of food. With Christmas falling on Sunday most of our guests won't be here for an extended stay.

Susan, I did not get to the pages yesterday after all. So that task has fallen to today. I will clear off my dining room table in a minute and dive in. I think a trip to Hobby Lobby to find some kind of cute doo dad to dress up each page may be in order with time so short.

That Bryce sounds precious! I know you will find something very special for that little cutie!

We don't own any clothes that would keep us warm in the temperatures both you and Jeanette are experiencing. We would just have to stay indoors until spring and hope the food in the pantry holds out! LOL!

Ladies - a prayer request for my daughter, Chrissy She is currently battling that dreaded stomach bug and has been up since 2:20 am throwing up - I jumped out of bed to hold her hair and cool her down and haven't gone back to bed. She has a fever of 102, not too too bad but not the best - BUT she is allergic to penicillin and all tylenols and ibuprofens! And her birthday is in 5 days

Susan - a true cutie you have there. I love Paw Patrol - no little ones here to watch it, but I've seen it with friends that have little ones (and once when it was stuck on a loop at the pediatrician - so adorable!)

Lynn and Jeanette - can't imagine having to travel to a big city to shop, although I'd give just about anything for 1. peace and quiet and 2. snow!
I'm about 3/4 done but until payday ..... it stays that way

Sending hugs to all!

Saying a prayer for Chrissy and your entire family, Kelly! No time for illness with her birthday and Christmas just around the corner.

December looks like a very expensive month around your house with all the birthdays and Christmas, too!

I don't look forward to the city crowds, but some things just can't be bought in my little town. Plus, it will be nice to have a granddaughter and daughter-in-law to do the city driving!
