Good morning. I
have a sad event to attend this morning - virtually. My really good
friend that I may have mentioned was ill in Utah. She was in the
hospital with a fractured vertebrae, but went into a severe depression
after getting infection and not being able to have family come to visit her. She went downhill fast. Decided to go into
hospice and go home which she did and then about 2 weeks later she
succumbed to sepsis and passed away. She was only 70. I was so lucky
that I had gotten to see her 2 years ago when I went to Utah to visit my
grandchildren. We had a great time catching up after being apart for 17
years. Her memorial service is this morning at 11 CDT and will be on
Zoom. A lot of people here in our Ward are not able to be there in
person.

Good Morning--I had a nice stamp class at Sarah's yesterday and then helped with the deck before storms rolled in about 3. Lots of wind, thunder and lightning, but less than a half inch of rain--and we really need it! I have a couple of errands today including a trip to REI, since they finally have opened. We have a zoom church meeting tonight. I hope you have a sweet day!

I was channeling you this morning Jeanette.
Woke up at 3 and could not get back to sleep. I don't know why. I've
been doing so well for the last several months. It was too late to take
something so I was reading for about an hour and a half and then was
able to go back to sleep for a little while.

So sorry to hear of your friend and her final days Maggie.

It's a reminder of how fragile life can be, especially once you reach a certain age - and there are several of us in this group!!

Life was going to be quieter this week - yeah right! saw the Dr today and he wants an x-ray as I have developed a lump on my chest that I assume is related to the fall I had in march... this evening I am babysitting as DD and SIL are heading up to Hamilton (over an hour away) to visit an elderly friend who fell last week and was admitted to hospital there with a brain bleed...

Had a trip to Auckland with DD on Sunday for a friends 70th birthday celebration, that was a total of 5 hours driving, and the trip home was wet and dark and there was a lot of traffic on the road!

Monday there was shopping and housework, Tuesday I had to have the car into the workshop for it's annual (required) Warrant of Fitness... early in the morning, hopefully the rest of the week is quieter.

Better go and pack the computer up to take with me for this evening to get my DT post up while I am babysitting.

Waving to you all from a rather cold (10 oC - 50 oF) and cloudy day - we started at
0 Oc. (32 oF).... as we are an island nation and our temperatures are generally fairly moderate, so this is cold for us.

Hello Chatty Stampers!

Maxine, you're the go go gal this week. I'm praying things go well with x-ray and it's nothing serious!

Good morning. Maxine, I hope all goes well the the x-ray and easily fixed.

It sounds like things are going well Down Under since you are out and about. It's going to be a while before that happens here.

It is soooooooooooooo not and humid here. I can barely go outside to feed the kitties. Ugh!

Good Morning Inky Friends. I thought a beautiful, calm picture today is better than a slobbering dromedary...................... More progress on the deck yesterday and next work days is Saturday as Rebecca is off to Indiana for a consulting job. That means I get to play in the stamp room the rest of today and all day tomorrow! I hope you too have an Amazing Wednesday!

Maggie--it is going to be hot here for the next 10 days or so--high 80's and low 90's every day. The AC will get a workout for sure.

Maxine--good luck with the x-rays.

Hello friends!

Yes, its' HOT!
Unbearable hot - we are indoors as much as possible. I have been trying to exercise again but since I had a fractured coccyx, it's nearly impossible except for walking and the only time I can do it without passing out from heat stroke it after 8 pm! And then ……. mosquitos. Welcome to Florida!

The lawn guy woke me up at 6:55 am this morning, wanting to make sure the lawn looked great for the 4th of July. First, it's way too early, my friend! Second, 4th of July is going to be IN MY HOUSE …….. and fireworks, fi they have them, from the roof! But thanks - LOL

Barb, I ADORE your graphic! I'm keeping that one to look at - that's my kind of play date!

Waving to all!

How about we trade some of my cold for some of your hot! !

Started today with a frost at -2 oC (28.4 oF), and got to 9 oC mid-afternoon (48.2 oF), but because of the wind chill (the wind was coming straight off new snow on the mountains) there was a 'felt like' note of 5 oC (41 oF)... putting the washing on the line, and getting it in again was painfully cold! At least I got it dry outside for a change .

Waving to you all from a rather chilly Down Under where we are forecast another frost tonight....

Good morning. As much as I hate the heat, I'm not looking forward to winter later.

I actually got time to work in my stamp room. Prepared a couple Christmas cards for the Dirty Dozen Christmas card challenge. I have gotten way behind.

Maxine - I will GLADLY trade for your cold! I'm a cold weather gal through and through - and really stuggle with this south florida heat. Dh knows this. he knows I hate it here and desperately want to move - I picked out 3 retirements spots and he just laughed! I know he wishes he could give it to me - but …….

our kids and Alice are here so it's a nice trade

Waving to everyone!

Hello Chatty Stampers!

We have company coming in today (DS and DiL) for four days. We haven't seen them since Christmas. Needless to say, I'll be enjoying the l-o-n-g weekend! a. lot.

I'll likely not be on SCS again until they've gone home so let me go ahead and say...

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend! I'll see you again on Tuesday!

I too am wishing everyone a safe and calm 4th of July Weekend. No holiday party for us this year, but we are going to a small cook-out tomorrow. I am bringing our traditional Brats, Italians and hash-brown casserole and Claudia is making her special baked beans! We are also dog sitting Jasper for a few days while Jill goes to northern Wisconsin to visit her baby grandson for a few days. Have a Great Weekend!

Good morning. Hope everyone has a safe 4th of July weekend. I am hoping to get together with my DD and family on Sunday. Her birthday was on the 1st, so we will be celebrating that. She has been plagued with allergies this week with that Sahara dust storm that has been hanging over H Town this past week. It is supposed to clear out this weekend.

Have any of you heard of contact tracing? I am almost finished a course on how to do it. It is tracing contacts of those who come in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. I may try to get a part time job with one of the Health Department here to be on a team.

Default Hello

Hello ladies!
Nice day spent with my sister and hubby- at here home-with a pool : ) It was mighty HOT! Well. its not Florida or Texas, so I'd better say- not complaining...LOL

Waving hello to all!

Maggie- here in our county, contact tracing would involve person to person visits, not just phone calls, so I did entertain the thought, but not the right time for me- just put on B/P meds and have asthma, so better stay safe and HOME!

We have been to the dentist, hairdresser for a cut and church- but it is a large church and we are really spread out- and no singing....so feel good about it. Pretty darn safe.
But, I sure miss my friends!

Friday night, we had a prayer group meeting in a friends backyard, priest came.... they were not the best at social distancing, but we did our best! Then home, we set the TV up outside, one neighbor over to join us- and watched Hamilton- with the subtitles on. Oh- it is Fabulous!!! We will watch it again- it is 3 hours long- we put on the subtitles- it is amazing!

Tomorrow, virtual mass then hope to stamp. I have 7 challenges for VSN to finish this week. Company coming in Thursday AM- the grand-baby will be here : ) : ) : ) : ) : )

I started PT for my hip problem and OUCH!!! I have exercises, but so darn sore! I feel pretty confident it is a hip issue and not the back- the PT told me back/spine was jolted and it pulled the hips out of line. He is pretty confident he can get me back- but for the time being, walking only- no bike riding.....

Hope you all have a great day and good weather as well!

Shelly

Good morning. I had a quiet, but nice weekend. I did get to spend some time with the family last night. We had dinner outside in their backyard and played Farkel. That and Yahtzee are the only two games so far that they have that we can play where we are not all seated close to each other around a table.

Hopefully, I have an electrician coming today to restore power to my garage door opener that decided to quit on my the other day.

Shelly, here in Texas with the stay at home order, there is no way to go to someone's house to check up on them in they have COVID-19. The course stook had it all done over the phone. I am also still waiting to hear more from Census 2020 about when they are going ahead with their training for their enumerators.

After last week's cold, this week is wet and wild

Held my card class today - only two here, but we got through two complete cards and another technique on just the front layer of a third card.

What fun Shelly to have your grandson with you - enjoy your time and get lots of cuddles, although no doubt he will be more interested in exploring!!

Hope you can get the electrician in quickly Maggie - isn't it annoying when things stop working properly!

Jeanette you have been very busy tidying in your craft room during lock-down - what a great way to spend your extra time.

Kelly I hope your weekend went well and that what celebrations you did have were enjoyable, and Alice was not afraid of any nearby fireworks.

Looks as though I will be moving out of this house in a matter of months - the house was appraised by an agent today and the suggested asking price is higher than I anticipated ... this is all happening very suddenly after another neighbourhood kerfuffle last week over a noisy dog.... the family feel I am not safe here, so DD and SIL accelerating the extension of their place, but I may be in an apartment for a few months (likely close to a year) before that is finished.

My repairs to the bathroom etc. still need to be finished, although things are picking up now - only one more sheet of Gib board to go in and then the gib stopping and plastering can be done, then the painting... I will be lucky to be able to use the new bathroom for long at all. The agent seemed to think this will sell quickly because of the size and the good condition it is in - it needs new carpet, and the kitchen is 'tired', but other than that all is good, and sound.

So if I suddenly am not around, it will be because I will be sorting and packing and down-sizing... waving to you all from Down Under - and that may soon mean I am 'down under' piles of stuff!!

..............................................

I hope you all had a good weekend (mine was 4 days long and great!) and that the week is going well.

Maggie, I had not heard of the contact tracing, but I'm not surprised there is such a thing. I wish you well in getting on a team. I'm sure you'd be very good at it.

Shelly, I hope the discomfort is not too bad, nor too long... and that the results are worth it. YAY for a grand arrival later this week. How fun!!!

Barb, woo hoo - progressing along with the deck. It's going to be fabulous soon! Sounds like you've been having some good times, too. That's great!

Maxine, WOW! Lots of changes in your future. I hope you're okay - even happy - with what's coming. How long have you lived in present home? I'll be praying all goes smoothly.

Yes, I have been doing a little bit of organization every day for weeks now - months, really. I did take off the past three days - with company here. But I already have a plan for today's [email protected] task... so will get back to it.

Waving to everyone else!

Good morning. The electric issue was an easy fix. Seems that the wires had gotten loose so it didn't take too long to fix it.

Barb, after all the time and care you have taken to get that deck replaced, I'm sure it's going to be a show-stopper when you get it done. A lot of work, but worth it.

Jeanette, glad you had some good times with family.

Shelly, enjoy your time with the grand baby. How long will they be staying? I hope that the PT helps. I've been plagued with deltoid bursitis for years. I started working out with a Biggest Loser DVD that uses light weights for upper body. It has sure helped with the pain from the bursitis. It's still there but much more bearable.

Maxine, I'm sorry to hear that you are having to move out of your home. I don't quite understand that. If you own your home, how could they make you move? If you rent it, why are you having to spend all your money on the renovations? Sorry if that's too personal, but I don't get it. It sounds like you will be moving in with DS and their family into an added on part of their house. That could very well be a good thing. Will you be able to continue with your stamping get togethers?

I'm a little concerned about my sister. She is older than me. She told me last week that one of her DD's and family are going to move in with her. She has a large building behind her house that was her DH's workshop. They use it for large family gatherings. Well, they are going to turn that into a bedroom for DD and SIL and an office for DD since she works from home for United Air. The two children will move into two bedrooms in her house. They had added on the two bedrooms years ago. She said she didn't really know why they were doing this, but from comments and such I'm thinking that they are concerned about her living alone. Her SIL does her shopping for her and they cook for her and bring food to her all the time. One of her other DD's goes and does all her yard work for her. I told both my DD's about this. They had not heard anything about this from the cousin and they are pretty close to her.

Maggie, I do own my own home, hence why I am responsible for the repairs.

It is the ongoing noise issues, and the belligerence of the neighbours that worries my family, and that is why I am moving - also it's a large house and grounds that I do't really need and take up a lot of time to maintain
.This move will free up some capital and enable me to travel if I so choose, as well as being able to replace the car should I need to, have some major dental work done etc. etc.

Your deck sounds as though it will be amazing when you have finished, Barb - photos when it's all done, please
