Hello all. So...just when I started getting over the whole chest/sinus crud, something attacked my stomach and intestines. Holy cow. I sure should get some weight loss out of this. ;)
Oh Jeanette, I am so happy for you! I know how much you've loved those Thailand mission trips! Will you be working with the children from prior years? How special to be reunited with them again.
Bijou is trying to get up on the bed with me. Right now he's walking around on the floor trying to find something to get him up, LOL. I'll let him work on it for a while. When he complains too much I'll give him a lift up. Too funny.
So sorry that you're sick again Darlene. I sure hope it doesn't last very long. So cute that Bijou wants to come up on the bed with you. I take it that he doesn't fly.

Hi everyone - I am exhausitpated - we woke to the alarm at 5:50 this morning and went over to Tauranga for DGS's Grandparent day at his pre-school....
we left there at 3:30 hoping for a quick trip home - WRONG - roadworks, and more roadworks, and more roadworks, including a 25 minute stop at one point. It was hot, we were sitting in the sun and the windows were down, but there was very little breeze - temperature was 26 oC (80 oF)... will be glad to see my bed tonight. Just hope my book doesn't get to exciting so I can't put it down :-)
Jeanette it sound wonderful that you can get to Thailand again
\Darlene - take care and let Bijou nurse you back to full health
Shelly I hope you are coping with work and don't get a relapse
Maggie your garden sounds as though it will be lovely.
Kristie - waving to you out there
No- we are not feeling the earthquakes at all - thankfully :-) They are smaller and less frequent today.

I hope it will be. I went out last night and spent some time watering all the plants and shrubs. Haven't heard from my yard guy about when he's going to come do the planting.:( I'm sure he's having to play catch up after he was on vacation for a week.

LOL, you just might be right, Jeanette - something funny going on when I sign on SCS .. think it's being funny for April Fools!
Good Morning, girls!
Ladies, you forgot to tell me that yesterday was the last day for the Sale-a-bration from SU!! Oh boy! I read about it on someone's blog and thought "that's today?"! LOL
Bijou & Lou have limited flight - controlled descent. The way that their wings are clipped doesn't allow them to get much altitude from ground level. But they can fly safely from about 6-7 feet up, down to ground level, covering about 8-9 feet to do so. If that makes sense. A safe, slow angle down to the ground. Birds love to be up high so this allows them to fly safely down to the floor when they want to play down there.
They play with cat toys, balls, bells, etc. They love TP tubes or paper towel tubes, buttons, dice, old medicine bottles filled with small uncooked pasta (Bij loves the sound it makes when he rolls it along) an old purse of mine seems to be a great hideout. I have to hide the TV remotes though. Bij loves to pick at the rubber buttons. Many have little bits missing.
Happy April all! I forgot to check in yesterday and looks like I missed a lot!
Too all those feeling poorly, hope you are better soon.
Jeanette- how wonderful that you will be going on the Thailand trip. I look forward to hearing more about your mission.
I'm counting down until our Disney trip - 27 days to go and lots of planning going on to make sure we see/do everything we want to do. I also have big plans of scrapping and card making this month. I want to have posts scheduled for when I am gone. If I can achieve that it will be shocking LOL! I always seem to have grand plans when the month starts and then I lose steam. IF the weather warms up, I may be more motivated. We'll see!

Thank you for explaining this, Darlene... I was so clueless. Sooooo... now I have what is probably a silly question to ask. How to they get back up off ground/floor once they are tired of playing down there?
What fun... both Kristie and Kelly get to go to the happiest place on earth! I love Disney! Have fun!!!
Yes, Kristie, I'm super excited about going back to Thailand. This will be my third year. It will also be my last, as this is the last year that a team from Illinois will be going to do this. But that's okay, then I'll watch to see where God will send me next.
Truthfully, I don't suppose it matters where he sends me, since it isn't a sightseeing vacation sort of thing. We work with children for 10+ hours a day while we're there. I love it!!!

Not a silly question at all. They have bird ladders that I keep handy for them. Bijou also uses phone cords or any other climbable item that may be draped over something. They can achieve a little height, probably 10-12 inches from the floor with their wings.
Maggie, I hope the new plan is a good one for you!
So far so good. After all, my doctor is my boss's brother, so I'm kind of like family and he doesn't charge me. Basically though I pay everything up front to $3000 and then insurance pays the rest 100%.

I can't keep track of the days!
I actually made an order last night. Probably my last. Just a few things that I needed and I did get one SAB item.

I kind of figured that they might have clipped wings so they can't fly away. So they can fly down, but not up? Sounds like they can be a lot of fun.

Me, too!! I am bare bones minimum on cardstock and ordered a bunch on packs. I can't wait for that big brown box to arrive! I scooped up to SAB sets I was ordering at 11:30 last night! I'm so glad I was commenting on that lady's blog and saw it, LOL!! Whew!
I also ordered some stamp sets from 123 Stitch. The prices were a steal and too good to pass up even though I need new stamp sets like a hole in the head!! But it WAS my birthday after all .... Hee hee
Dropping in to say hello! We are on page three already.....Yippee!
I made it through work Mon., but slept till almost noon today! Now I am not the least but ready for bed...... Hahahaha I am working tomorrow, then off for a week. Heading to Indiana Friday PM instead of going to Ky then to Indiana.....we would have headed home Sat night after the meet or Sun AM, but will not head to Ky Sat night or Sun AM and will visit the folks and head home from there Mon PM.....
Yeah Jeanette- Thailand will be awesome- so you head North and up in the cooler mountains??? It was SO HOT there in Jan.!!! If I go back, it will be to discover the area up North. So awesome for you- glad you get to go : )
Lynn and Kelly- the three B's sound right up my alley- can I crash your beach party??? I am with you Lynn- not interested in Wine, although I did not grow up drinking it. We did get a little on special occasions though. Oh, fun to see you getting dirty and playing with your Distress colors : )
Kelly- awwww Spring Break always comes and goes too quickly.... glad you got your fill of * Free* coffee today! We got a free main dish at Panda Express tonight- it was buy one get one free. The free one was really spicy, so I am glad I asked hubby to get me something different. I got Chicken with mushrooms and zucchini.
Maggie- so your Doc makes you pay your deductible first??? That is nice the doc is "all in the family" though- prob has you as a VIP in the office : ) Fun that you are already working in the garden.
Maxine- Oh I feel for you stuck in traffic! Do you have high humidity with those temps? I do not mind HOT temps, but as I have gotten older, cannot seem to tolerate humidity.
Darlene- glad you are better! Sounds like one thing or another has been keeping you down, so good to hear you are back up and feeling good enough to work! So cool to hear about your birds. I do not know why, just figured they could fly around- my neighbor lost a bird once- flew right out the door, so I never think about them having clipped wings- so smart though!
Kristi- sounds like a fun trip- do you go often? I have only been to Disney once- we wanted to take the kids back, but they wanted to go to Busch Gardens and Universal Studio's instead...... We did have a blast when we were there though- and the food- one of the restaurants we stayed in had an all you could eat fish dinner with Mussels, etc....my husband and son ate until they could not hold one more thing....it was almost shameful- they are bottomless pits!
My computer is acting up, so am making short stops on it. I am going to have to buy a new one and have been putting it off..... The cord that charges it- well- it has something wrong with the connection and I never know about the charge. Also, the internet connection crashes AND..... after the trip I left the camera card in its slot (I always do) and it got smooshed in....so that is working again, but does not always......
Ahhhhhh Ok, gotta get to bed........ Hope you all have a blessed rest of the week- will check in again later in the week.

LOL! No Shelly, my doctor doesn't make me pay the deductible first, it's our new insurance plan. We had a choice. This plan the company pays for and then we pay the deductible first and then it pays 100% of everything. The other plan is what we had before with a copay, but the total deductible is $4500. And we would have to pay $85 a month for it, so I'm taking the $85 a month and putting it in my savings account like having an HSA. Yesterday my cost was $-0-And since our preventive care is all paid 100% I really won't have much to pay for.
Sorry about the computer. Mine acts up every once in awhile. This morning it gave me the blue screen twice before it actually logged in and I just cleaned it up and scanned it yesterday to look for issues.
That was some Facebook joke you pulled yesterday. You had a lot of people going, but I knew it was a joke because you didn't say anything about it on here. I'm sure you would tell us some great news like that.

I'm a bit delayed getting here this morning - we had a thunderstorm in the area so I had to unplug my computer. Alas, my battery on my laptop is basically gone - it only holds a charge for about 10 minutes. We need the rain, though, so it's good. DH sowed grass seed earlier this week - our yard is mostly gone due to the loss of the huge tree (they ground out the stump) so the rain will help the seed germinate.
Shelly, loved reading your post. Yes, I'm excited about going back to Thailand, and YES it will be Hot!!! It's usually nearly 100 degrees when we're there. But we are in air conditioned space with the children all day long, so it's okay. Remember, this isn't a sightseeing touristy sort of trip. We work long hours. By evening - when we go out for supper and a bit of shopping - it's cooled down a wee bit. That being said, this year we only have the children 5 days instead of 7, so we do get 2 free days that we haven't had the past two years. We'll do some sightseeing, but not sure where/what.
Maggie, I agree! Shelly would surely tell us FIRST! ;)
Good Morning Ladies--I noticed in your title that you may be looking for new members.................... If so, would you have me? I know many of you from other threads and would love to be a part of another blogging group!
I had some FUN this morning - not! After leaving a meeting w/ a friend, and was heading home, sitting a red light to make my left turn and a car next to me (green light) had a HUGE truck pull right into her path. I know she tried to avoid it but the collision still happened. I had to get out of the intersection when my light turned green so I pulled into the shopping center and ran back.
She was an older lady and was just sitting in her car dazed. The truck driver saw her, yelled something at her and waved his arms around and tried to leave but was blocked by (God-cidence) another truck delivering cars. Had it not been there, he would have sped away. She was fine, just shaken up. Her car is totaled, no doubt. I told her she needed to get out of the road, that I was just a witness and bystander and we got safely across 3 lanes of traffic. She called the police and her son. She was so shaken up, saying she had to get her grandson from school :*( I told her take it one step at a time. She needed to make some calls, get a tow truck and make arrangements because she wasn't picking up anyone in that car.
Meanwhile, the man comes over screaming and yelling IN SPANISH that she ran the red. Um. Okay. No she didn't. He doesn't speak a word of English but it wasn't my place to interject and she kept repeating I don't speak Spanish, I don't understand. I didn't want to use my ace card just yet and let him know I'm fluent in Spanish and he's just spewing non truths all over the place. A cop did show up (off duty, not THE COPS that she called for) and he starts telling him that she ran the red, yadda yadda and I finally told her he is not being honest - he said you ran the red. She was like Oh you understand him? Yes! And I said I just wanted to make sure you were okay, the cops are coming and she said please don't go :( I felt so bad for her.
When the police did arrive, he asked who was who and why was I there and I said I was just a witness but its' a good thing I stayed - it became her word against his and I FULLY saw him run that red. Scared this poor lady, totaled her car and the kicker ... yells at HER for it and not even in English. AND he had no insurance! That's against the law here!!! Well played, Karma - well played.
I finally let my ace card show and talked to him and I did talk to him and calmed him down and told him it was an accident. That's all. Everyone is fine. Your truck is okay. Insurance (hers) will pay and you will have to sort it out with the courts later. But no one was hurt, just his ego. Move on. Count your blessings.
And I hugged her and told her to call me if she has any issues. The police took my information and I will by golly show up in court as a witness if need be! She said thank you so much and that tomorrow was her birthday - Bless her heart!!!!
Just rushing through - yes, I'm glad I was there, too but not that I did anything special, just mediated sort of - lol.
My daughter's show was today during school and tomorrow night, Friday night so I will be a little scarce .... I wish her the best but am so nervous for her. She's coming off a MAJOR cold/flu bug and is asthmatic and on the nebulizer. Last night she sounded so bad and today had to sing so she kept it just at the level she needed so not to ruin her voice for the big Friday night show. I run the concession stand tomorrow so anyone some yummy snacks, come on down! ♥
Hi Barb- we do have two openings here. No, we do not vote- you just need to consider whether or not our group fits your blogging 'group' needs. We try to stop in at minimum 1-2 times a week and share something about yourself so we can get to know you- just as if we were all sipping tea- or coffee together......and all try to visit each others blogs a minimum of once a week and leave encouraging comments. That way we get to know and inspire/encourage each other.
If you feel that you can get involved in the chatter and stop by blogs- awesome! Let us know. We do try to do a card swap in the group once a month- not required but we have all been doing it, and we had also been doing a technique of the month- Darlene tells us what the technique is and we have usually the entire month to post something.
Oh Maggie- I have been bad....... I do not know what possessed me to post that..... Ladies, I decided it would be fun to announce that we may be sent to France - as that is where Ray's work headquarters is.....to live for 6 months. I did not think anyone would believe it....but people were so excited.... A couple of friends who know me well knew it was not true- one Anna- posted it on FB and the other called me- her husband saw it and told her when she came home we were moving to France- hahaha Oh my nose grew 3 feet yesterday....... I had two people stop me at work today- they were all contriving reasons they had to come visit us while we were there....
Oh I am off for a week. I am making ATC's for swaps and cards for swaps and a DT card for Easter....lots to get finished tomorrow!
We are heading to Indiana at 5ish Friday- Stephi's running in the club Nationals for Indoor Track. Sunday after b-fast, we will head to my folks house- about 2 1/2 hours and stay till Mon Pm and then head home.
Kelly- how awful! Bless you for stopping and being a witness for that lady- you are her angel today! I hope your daughter feels great and has a wonderful show! I had allergy shots today, and they told me that this is going to be the worst allergy season ever- I said- I have been hearing that for the last couple of years.....so not sure I believe it- we'll see.....
Oh Jeanette- yes, you know I would tell you all first!
Ok- off here tonight - sad news about Ft Hood- I do not know what this world is coming to!!! Over in Asia, everyone thinks the USA is very dangerous!
Woo hoo, Barb has found us!! Shelly summed it up nicely. What can I say? It's a nice group of friends who tolerate my varied ability to participate. LOL (2014 is the year that I get control of my life back, so I am determined to be better!)
Kelly: how fortunate that you were there at just the right time to be an angel for that poor woman during her hour of need! Good thinking about keeping your language advantage a secret!!! Smart cookie that you are! I sure hope that things sort out well for her and nothing worse is in store. What a jerk that guy was!
Shelly: have a great trip, travel safely & enjoy!! (BTW, ladies, check out her blog - her art journal cover and a metallic card she made are incredible!)
Waving to all. We're to get to 50 degrees today - I can finally see brown, mushy lawn between snow piles. LOL
Hee hee
I placed my order last week to make my quarter and got a few more SAB things. I can't wait to see the new catalog. There will be a catalog premiere at a theater 10 minutes from my house but it's the day we leave for Disney. Figures, right?? Buying yourself birthday presents is totally acceptable...will have to check out 123 Stitch. Never heard of it (although that may be a good thing??)
I'm so hoping the Mine Train will be in soft openings when you go so you can tell me about it! I am in several April/May fb trip groups and have been stalking DISboards for news on it. We have watched it being built the last two trips and I will be so bummed if we don't get to ride it this time.
Dropping in to say hello! We are on page three already.....Yippee!
Shelly
We have been going often but will try to stretch out our times between trips after this one. We really need to start doing more work on our house...but vacation is always more fun LOL!
